Matt B. grew up right by the Miramar, so we decided to check it out last time we visited Santa Barbara, walking over from his childhood home with our dogs. It was around 5:30 when we got there, still sunny out but early enough to drink freely, and we hit up the beach bar for cocktails with a view. The bar was over past the train tracks that go through the hotel. We had to step across them to get there, and I found this more charming than inconvenient--the Miramar has done pretty well incorporating an active train track into a luxury property. The beach bar was attractive, an open air wood deck, handsomely furnished, overlooking the glittering water. It was already busy when we got there. All of the tables were occupied, so we stood at the bar and watched for an opening. The bar just got more crowded instead, though not with a raucous beach crowd. There were a lot of families with kids and dogs. Our bassets received plenty of pets and compliments, which they enjoyed immensely. We were able to get a first round of cocktails without too much trouble, but by the time we were finished, the bartenders were slammed. We ended up talking to another couple at the bar, and seeing how long it took them to get their drinks, we decided to leave before getting a second round. Not the bartenders' fault--they were friendly and professional and doing their best. The place was just not equipped to handle the sunset beach bar crowd. Our cocktails were okay. I had the Italian mule, made with Cynar, Amaro Montenegro, ginger beer, and lime. It was kind of medicinal and sweet. I should've just gotten the Moscow mule. Matt had the Sea Mist, a light, refreshing drink with Toki Japanese whiskey, Yuzuri yuzu liqueur, citrus marmalade, lemon, simple syrup, and plum bitters. We sipped our cocktails, snacked on some mixed nuts, and soaked in the view. I'd recommend Miramar Beach Bar if you're looking for a lively place to get drinks with an ocean view. Expect slow service at peak hours, though, and maybe don't bother with complicated cocktails. read more

Great little spot at Miramar Resort! We didn't stay at the resort but just stopped by for a quick bite at the Miramar Beach Bar. The weather was beautiful, the view right by the beach was amazing! Listening to the sounds of the waves was just so relaxing. They didn't have a full food menu just appetizers and cocktails. The drinks were perfect, not too weak and not too strong. Had the crab cakes and really liked them, the hummus plate I wish they would of given a few more veggies or chips to go along with it. Service was great! I'd go back again! read more

Something so calming about how picturesque this whole hotel is. I personally loved it and think it's worth it to come by to enjoy purely the atmosphere, as well as the drinks. Came here with a friend around happy hour time while I was visiting her in Montecito. The beach bar is situated right above the sand with amazing views and is just hands down boujeee, but the service was still pretty friendly and attentive. There's different kind of seating options and we were lucky enough to get a comfy couch facing the water. We both ordered an aperol spritz, that had some kind of fruity twist to it (passionfruit?) that I can't remember, and it was refreshing but nonetheless a standard spritz. It came with a little trio of bar snacks that was a nice touch. I completely skipped the olives but the mixed nuts were herb-y and yum, and the pickled veggies were good too. We only had time for one drink before dinner, but this was the ideal spot to catch up and I could've hung out for hours. When I visit her again I definitely want to return for HH and try some of the food I didn't even know they had! There's also the cutest pink Fiat Jolly in front that I honestly regret not getting a photo op with. :) read more

The beach bar is outstanding. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail and some light shareables with the best view of any restaurant in SB/Montecito. When the sun is shining and the wind is calm, you look out on the ocean and feel like you're on a yacht (minus the sea sickness of course). Not to mention the service from all the servers and especially the manager, David, who makes you feel like a member of the family with his warmth and charisma. It does get busy during sunset in warmer months because of that incredible view, so keep that in mind when you plan your visit! The bar is an excellent alternative to a table when it's busy, if you're feeling like having great conversation and sharing laughs with the bartenders Zak, Sarita, Lily, and Jared. This place polishes its low-key, laid-back atmosphere with elite level service and is definitely worth a visit if you get the chance!! read more

I want to leave a review for my bar server at the Upstairs beach bar at the Rosewood resort in Montecito. Heather is her name and she was happy, conversant and personable at the same time very professional. She told me about the Rosewood and how beautiful it is here and what an amazing place to work. It made me think that the Rosewood takes very good care of their employees because she loves it, or they just hire happy well adjusted professionals Either way , I will come back. Unfortunately, another disappointing experience at one of the best hotels in the country. My wife and I love montecito / Santa Barbara area and frequently travel for weekend getaways from LA. The rosewood is an incredible property but with the name comes a nice price. For the location and overall hotel - I have no problem occasionally spending a pretty penny to enjoy a good view with some expensive cocktails and food. However, when doing so, I expect the staff to always be exuberant and super friendly. When anyone is paying $20+ for a drink and $1-2k for a room, you'd think management would require their staff to provide top notch service to their patrons. This was not the case at the beach bar. The shrimp tacos and drinks were phenomenal but our server was extremely aloof and discourteous. Couple of examples of off putting experiences - 1) our waitress insisted on charging us a fee to take the corn off the cob for our Mexican street corn, 2) she brought us guacamole when we asked for chips and salsa and of course got charged for the most expensive guacamole we've paid for in years. 3) she had a scowl and blatantly ignored my wife and I when routinely checking on tables. If you're at the Rosewoood and want to just chill, watch the sunset and have some sushi, it's a fun relaxing place. There are no TVs though so don't expect to watch any sports games. Your main focus should be the relaxing ocean and whoever you are with. All they have for food on the menu is sushi. If you want other types of food, you have to go to the cafe at the pool. read more

Gorgeous views, delicious food and great service! Sauro is the manager and was very welcoming and pleasant. Edgar was our server and did excellent! He recommended the sushi and it was fresh and delicious. There is guest parking for those of us that come for only food and drink. If you want to enjoy great service and a relaxing time then go during the week. The weekends will be slower service and packed with people as most beautiful places with water views. read more

It feels like you are in Abercrombie store. Lots of cute servers , but no service. We ordered 6 items. Two came and one of them wrong and 4 others did not show up at all, while 10 cute servers stood around like they are on vacation. Disappointed again. We had been to The Revere Room Previously and it was a wind tunnel/morgue with bland food. It was a nice day so we decided to go back and try the Beach Bar. Although the ambience was lovely the food was sadly lacking. We ordered the slider which is a single small slider that came with fries for $20. It was unexceptional and flavorless and the fries were borderline McDonald's style. Equally disappointing with the halibut ceviche. A slimy mess it's flavor can't even be described as ceviche like, it was like some old fish you had scraped off the bottom of a shoe worn by a Scally wag from a doomed troller. Our disappointment led us to try and order something else so we can get some type of satisfaction from one of the dishes so we ordered. Next up the shrimp and fish bites. Again, just kind of blah.No flavor and the fish is somehow indescribable as a part of an animal it is more like mush that was squirted out of a tube prior to being fried. The puzzlingly weak sauce that came with the fish was a yogurt base that was trying to be some type of tartar sauce but fell way short Our server was very pleasant and the lemonade was pretty tasty but overall this restaurant as seems to only depend on its location at a ritzy hotel and proximity to the beach to exist. I'm a local and have been here several times since it opened. First, the Upsides: Location is fabulous! Even the train that runs through it is fun and Disneyesque! Yep. That's about it. Downsides: Service is always slow Food is horrible! Absolutely stay away from the hummus! It is served with jaw-breaking thick chips and not pita...it is also doused in heavy chili oil. Okay for adults, but not for kids. Chicken quesadillas are equally inedible. Drinks are good...but hardly worth the price. Overall assessment: Go there for the sunset. Get a cocktail. Don't bother with the food. I love to chat with people and have found that about 80% of the guests are from LA. I've come to think that it's just a place for them to come and be seen. As for us locals....we'll go elsewhere! read more

What a shame that the food and service at this truly beautiful location have gone from good to bad. Service has always been slow but yesterday it took an hour to get food. And the result was not worth waiting for. Am I chopped chopped salad. Really a bowl of lettuce with some strawberry slices and shrimp on top. The new menu leaves off the great ceviches and fish tacos. And why? Those are faster to prepare, and clearly the little airstream kitchen can't prepare burgers and salads quickly. Many kinks need to be ironed out. We moved our party to The Manor House bar after the 3rd Person could not find another person to light the heat lamp. By the time someone came, who I regret not getting his name, because he literally tried Eagle Scoot moves to light the damn thing, my party already retreating to The Manor Bar. I commend you Eagle Scout Man. Literally zero other people gave a shit. The worst thing a service person can do is delegate a task to someone else.... and then not even do that. We waited 45 minutes. We had to ask three different people to take our drink orders.... because "we weren't in their section." This might be acceptable at a truck stop diner, but not here. I've been doing this for 20 years. You can take a drink order, put it in the POS system and keep the table for yourself or transfer the order to whoever the table belongs to AFTER you put the order in. Friends came up from LA for a post-COVID visit and stopped by the beautiful Miramar Resort to enjoy a gorgeous sunny Montecito beach day. We decided to sit up on the Beach Bar and have a round of cocktails. The ambience is casual, comfortable and takes in the cool ocean breeze. The people watching is great, and the waitstaff friendly and attractive. Why only 2 stars? Simply put, the cocktails were too expensive to be as watered down as they were! WTF...$24 for a Margarita that was mostly mix and slushy ice. The black salt drawn artistically on the side looked like the charcoal from an aquarium filter and unless you planned to lick the glass below the rim on the outside, total fail. The Aperol Spritz was more color than taste. The Moscow Mule came in the usual cool copper mug, but had no taste. And actually, the non-Alcohol Pear drink for the designated driver was delicious-- and priced the same as the tasteless weak cocktails. We won't be returning if its a good robust cocktail we are looking for. read more

In a few words, "no value here, just ambiance". We were informed upon arrival that our valet charge at $17 would not be discounted or waived for eating there. My wife had a Mai Tai for $24 from a mix, without traditional dark rum added, which our server acknowledged. Our luncheon, prepared in an adjacent motor coach and not a kitchen, consisted of a "Surfer" burger at $28 which was too large to eat properly and dripping with juice and soggy on the bun and an unappetizing fish taco for $18. In all, this "luncheon" with gratuity was $121 in addition to the $17 valet charge. There is really no dollar value here, just ambiance, which might be acceptable if you only wish to visit and have a brief meal or cocktails. Consider parking outside outside the complex in one of the many spaces, walk in, and enjoy the visually pleasing grounds and ocean view. read more

This property is GORGEOUS but the service at the beach bar is subpar. I was alone in the early evening waiting for a friend who was running late. I was at the bar for 1 hour and not one person asked if I wanted a drink or checked on me after I ordered my own drink at the bar. The only people that assisted me were the bartender and a "busboy" who brought me water and an olive/nut assortment. While I'm sure the service will improve with time, it was an unexpected disappointment at such a beautiful (and expensive) resort. That said, I'll be back and hope to see an improvement. read more
