I came here to kill time because the weather was so bad and I was camping. The best view along the coast. There was only one young man managing the whole restaurant (I heard others on the kitchen). He did a great job and I love that this is family owned. I had already eaten so I just got beers and guac. Everything was great. read more

Came in on a Tuesday afternoon very disappointed with the service that we received,we placed our order and got it 30 mins later , there was only 4 tables in the restaurant so it wasn't because they were busy ,after the food was delivered nobody came back on us to see how everything was or if we wanted another beverage,they did stop at the end and place the bill and say thank you. Serving size should be improved The beans were watery looked like a weak attempt to present the plate. Rice was bland, no tortillas with a 23 dollar plate. The Chile replenish was semi tough. Honestly being the only Mexican restaurant in town you have a captive community. Not know the difference in quality and quantity. I mean beans are beans why short the customer? Solid Mexican food. I enjoyed my aguas frescas and enchiladas. The chips and salsa were good too and loved the view of the ocean as well. Service was fine. Prices a little higher than what I am used to in the Bay Area, but not outrageous. read more

Stopped in for a last minute dinner yesterday (Wednesday) around 7:15pm. It wasn't too busy and we were seated at a table for 6 people right away. The vibe was really fun, very bright colors and tables/chairs. The servers were nice and took our orders quickly. The food came out fairly quickly too but we had chips and salsa to keep us happy in the meantime. The guacamole was good. Everyone enjoyed their meals, including me. I had the camarones a la Diabla, it was good. Corn tortillas were fresh and refried beans were tasty. I had no cross contamination (gluten) issues. I would visit again. read more

Probably the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Ordered the steak fajita. The steak was inedible. So much fat had to be trimmed. They only gave us 3 tortillas. Said that is what it comes with. Beans were tasteless. Salsa was flavorless. The food is made with zero love. Scary on the outside but the inside looked festive so gave it a chance. Save your hard earned money. Terrible terrible terrible! How can you make Mexican food taste so bad? Oh and seems they only have one hot sauce bottle for the sauce whole restaurant. They took it back! It's a great place to grab some Mexican comfort food. It has an amazing view of the ocean and the decor is very cool. Best Michelada I've ever had. Service can be a little slow when they are slammed but if you're not in a hurry it doesn't matter. We were there on a Wednesday night. We arrived around 7:00. They close at 8:00. We didn't get dinner until after 8:00. Apparently there were some large groups that came about the same time we did. Once the food came it was very good. Did juliano was excellent and the enchilada suiza and the enchilada roja were very good. But our beer was warm by the time the food arrived and we were next to the last group left in the restaurant. The waitresses were working as hard as they could. I had the most incredible experience with Miramar! The people that own it and work there are very kind and thoughtful, and the food was delicious! I did not dine in but when I went to pick up the food the restaurant ambiance was adorable, lively, and had a great ocean view from the dining room. I needed food for a party of 18 people and they were accommodating in helping me figure that out. And especially nice when I changed my order a few times. They even went above and beyond with adding a few special things to my pickup that really made a difference. I will order from them or come in to dine the next time I am in Gualala. Service was adequate, food was expensive. My wife and I shared a calamari plate and a combo with a Chile relleno a chicken enchilada and a shredded beef taco. The Chile Relleno was amazing the chicken enchilada and shredded beef taco were good. The calamari plate was kind of lackluster, mainly because the portion was small and because they put shrimp in the plate as well instead of calamari. For $19 a plate I would expect more honesty about it. The view was nice and the service was adequate. read more

Great Mexican Food! Recently reopened restaurant location- in the heart of Gualala. We had dinner and breakfast there. Dinner is mostly Mexican specialities and traditional items. I had the carnitas which were very good. Breakfast is pretty much the normal fair with a couple of Mexican variations thrown in but a good place to take kids - pancakes and waffle options. Do make reservations for dinner. The new seating reconfiguration has limited the seating and it was quite crowded Thursday night by 6:30. read more

Dined at this establishment tonight. There have been numerous restaurants at this location since the 1960s - the most difficult time for any restaurant to economically survive in Gualala is during the swing season (when there are no tourists - only locals) - the price point is too high /quality of food too low for what the customer presently receives. Requested water for our table - took 25 minutes after seating to receive it. Recommendations: - Most dishes come with refried beans and spanish rice. There was only a quarter cup of each on each plate. These foods are not expensive. It is recommended that La Miramar have more of each meal plate, otherwise it looks discouraging and cheap. -Have a floor manager/owner there (especially since it's just opened in June), to make sure water makes it to the table in a timely manner, etc. etc... -Suggestion: When servers are filling out their pad with customer meal selections make sure the server knows who gets what at a table. For example, draw a table map on the servers pad with meal selections....otherwise servers and often times customers do not remember who has ordered what... I witnessed at several tables tonight - confusion. This all comes down to training and having a floor manager on site for each service. -Have a restaurant signature: Either make your chips freshly made on site and/or tortillas and advertise this... this is not expensive make/execute....the tortilla chips were old, and the tortillas, flour/corn were uneventful. There were only two tortillas offered per ordered dish, which is discouraging like the mini portions of Spanish rice and refried beans. -The chicken fajitas had reheated chicken strips, not cooked onsite and/or prepared directly from a chicken breast on site. And frankly looked like a Costco product -Absolutely do not feature Costco/Kirkland margarita mix in a plastic bottle on the top shelf behind your bar! This does not elicit a desire to have a freshly concocted libation at a Mexican restaurant. Why not stay home and make your own Kirkland Margarita for third price point? Nice: Decor, clean, new booths - smart seating, young staff were pleasant and full of smiles. If this restaurant is to survive at this location, it really needs to "up it's game," especially during the swing season. I wish La Miramar the very best, but it does need to make thoughtful changes very soon... read more

Do not come to this restaurant if you want good or timely service, flavorful Mexican food, or a friendly atmosphere. We came in and were seated, waited about 15 minutes for our order to be taken, then waited over 40 minutes for our food. When it arrived, both the beans and the sauce on our burrito had a gross skin on them like they'd been sitting under a warmer forever. Nothing had any flavor at all. Just bland. We also ordered guacamole which they told us upon receipt of our food that they did not have, and then they tried to charge us for it. A fun place with a gorgeous view! The inside is bright and colorful and the windows on each wall show off the Pacific Ocean. There is a variety of different marg flavors to choose from, and all are delicious (and sweet!). The staff was also incredibly accommodating.
