    Buffalo wings - OMG perfection
    Sadaf S.

I came to anchor bay to camp with my dog. I was not prepared for the rain for the next 2 hours, so i decided to find a bar and grill. To my pleasant surprise Cove Azul Bar and Grill was only 4 miles from here. Came here with Leo, my dog, and I love the vibes. Super chill and friendly. Has a beautiful view. I ordered the buffalo wings and OMG they were perfect. I'm waiting right now to get hungry again so I can order more food to try all of their deliciousness.

My sister and I went on a camping trip at Stillwater Cove. We decided to take a drive up to the next town over which was Gualala. We wanted a nice seafood restaurant with a view. I asked a local lady for a recommendation. She said to check out Cove. OMG, we had one of the best seafood LUNCH meals. The prices are very affordable compared to the Bay Area. It's a small, cute restaurant located on the second floor with views galore. We decided to dine outside to enjoy the fresh air. Inside was a bit on the warm side. Our server was Sean. He was pleasant and attentive. We ordered: Half dozen of Oysters - 5 Stars Mussels - 5 Stars Cioppino with CRAB (extra $9) - 5 Stars Garlic Bread - 4.5 Stars Everything tasted amazing. The views were spectacular. I'm glad we dined and supported a local business.

Had an absolute blast here! The food was amazing, and the drinks were even better. The staff made the whole experience even more enjoyable super friendly and fun. This place instantly became one of my new favorite spots! Can't wait to come back soon.

What a great experience! Everyone was so friendly, and the food was both delicious and affordable. The views from up on the hill overlooking the ocean were absolutely gorgeous. Great beers too! Fish and chips were just $13, and $43 for all the food you see in the pic--so worth it. Can't wait to go back!

Sat outside bc we had our dog. Service is slow but in this cozy town you have time. Calamari appetizer is good. Tender strips. Fish and chips- fish is good; fries a bit greasy. Salmon and chips is weird. Maybe salmon should not be fried. Nothing about the cooking. You can see the ocean but also right on the highway. Overall good enough and reasonable. Avoid the fries

First time here, and came because my friend recommended it! We sat outside because we had our dogs, and the view is beautiful! It overlooks the water, and you get to breathe in the fresh air. Service was great, and our waiter got a bowl of water for our dogs. We had fried calamari, fish and chips, and the burger with clam chowder. I loved how the calamari were big strips, so you get a lot of the meat. The batter was super crispy and tasty. The same batter is used for the fish and chips, and it was delicious! Again, it was crispy and had just the right amount of salt. The fish itself was soft and melted in my mouth. My hubby doesn't like fish, but he said this was good because he didn't get that fishy taste. Definitely better than the fish and chips I got in bodega bay. Be ready for grease though! The batter is kind of greasy. Clam chowder was great too! Overall a great place to grab a bit and enjoy the view. Would totally come back!

As soon as we walked out to the car, we changed our minds and decided to go back in. The host said "let me see if I can find you a table really quick". Fortunately for us, he was able to seat us right away :) Food was delicious! We were very impressed. We ordered fried calamari and the flat bread to start. The sauces on the calamari were incredible. I ate the clam chowder as my entree -- amazing!! My husband had the salmon special, which he loved. Ambience and view were amazing as well as service. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

I looked at the menu and we're talking hamburgers fish and chips etc. it's a very casual place, not white tablecloth fancy dining at all, very casual. We each ordered fish and chips. $29 each! It comes with French fries and an itsy bitsy 1 oz. container of coleslaw. Period. It comes with two big pieces of fish, but the breading is about 8-in thick. It was very greasy and way overcooked. I was not all impressed with the food. The service was good and the view is a million dollar view with a fresh flower on the table. We only had water to drink, no cocktails, nothing else. nothing special. Out bill came to something like $76. I would not go back there. I could walk around the Pelican Bluff coastal trail for the amazing view.

Overall, I was pretty impressed and satisfied by the quality of the food I got. Pricing isn't cheap, but in line with expectations for seafood in an area with a lot of visitors, though portion sizes do veer on the smaller side. Kimchi Crab Cakes (2.75/5): I wanted to like these more than I did, but unfortunately I just thought the kimchi flavor was pretty lackluster and also tamped down the sweetness of the crab. The crab cakes are mostly crab, which is nice, but I'd skip this one. Grilled Oysters w/ Lemon Garlic Butter (4/5): Fresh oysters grilled to order, what's not to be happy about. The garlic was fresh and the oysters weren't fishy; all around solid option. Clam Chowder (4/5): A nice clam chowder. Nothing crazy and good amount of clams. Exactly what you'd expect. Crab Roll (4.25/5): Definitely my favorite item we tried! Super generous with the amount of crab with a bit of creamy mayo and slices of fresh tomato. The bread looks really pale, but it was actually a satisfying fresh, soft roll.

Well, my concerns went out the door upon having an evening drink at the bar and then dinner. It was so good that I decided we should come for dinner the following night as well. It is good to make a reservation. The restaurant is rustic, "woodsy" and very casually comfortable. The wait staff is awesome. They are friendly, professional and very attentive. Both nights was a delight, and we enjoyed chatting and getting to know them. The first night I had the Pt Reyes oysters. They were fantastic. Firm, succulent and delicious; bathed in a light mignonette and tarragon. Perfect! For my main course I had the Summer Vegetable Pasta. It was equally delicious. The pasta was fresh, al dente and bite size. All of the accompaniments, including artichoke pieces, were spot on and blended perfectly for an excellent meal. I was quite satisfied. The next evening I started with the Smoked Rock Cod Rillettes which came on two crostini and made similar to a tuna fish spread. Quite tasty this local fish was a great way to start the meal. After I chose to have the Pork Tenderloin. It was so tasty, moist and delicious. I had it medium rare and that was just right for me. The sauce with it was a great addition, plus the pickled apple, greens and bacon. YUM! Both truly delicious, enjoyable meals. Having a glass of wine for both dinners was just right and they have a nice selection. As for the bar the mixologist bartender was right on his game. I had a Manhattan on the rocks. It was so smooth and just the right mix. Ed had a Bourbon Sour and was quite content. I would gladly eat here again. It is a bit pricey but the value was definitely there.

Now that we're on the Sonoma coast quite often I wasn't quite ready for a sit down, so I decided to take the chowder to go. According to the hostess, the bar staff would take my to go order. So I probably sat at the bar for I want to think about five minutes before I was even acknowledged that's very disappointing. it really gives you a dismissive feeling when other guests are being intended. I'm not talking about a large group 4 down to two people, and I honestly felt ignored. Any way I waited patiently and was finally asked if I could be helped so I said yeah I wanna place it to go order. I'm kind of driving down the road and I just wanna take it to go. That was no problem. I wandered around the property, which is really lovely while I waited for my chowder. My receipt came to approximately $37 for my to go order of only two servings of chowder. I served it that evening, along with a salad and some filet mignon in the comfort of our own accommodations. While the flavor was whatever I remembered, it was a great flavor. It's rich and it's definitely comfort food. However, the potatoes were all raw basically uncooked not at all what I would expect for a seafood chowder. While the potatoes should be not mushy, these were just nearly raw. After the anticipation of looking forward to enjoying and sharing this dish, I feel pretty disappointed. So I can cross this one off my foodie bucket list. Been there done that was just OK. #coastkitchen
