The service here was really free eat they are incredibly knowledgeable about dietary and have a range of options. They also display local artists works and are welcoming to all people. Stopped by this past Sunday for a tempeh BLT on rye, and it couldn't have been better! The rye was toasted, and the sandwich was clearly made by someone who cared. This is the 2nd time I've had this sandwich in the past 1-1/2 weeks, and I'd give the first one a 4 to 4.5, this one a 5. I only wish the building didn't have flies both times I was there. We came into town around 5pm looking for some thing for a quick dinner. The store was open and not super busy. We ordered a turkey panini to go. The employee at the register also suggested a raspberry white chocolate chip cookie which sounded delicious. The panini was freshly made and tasted great and the cookie was wonderful. What a gem of a little grocery store! It has excellent vegan options in all categories -- sweets, beverages, tofu, proteins. There's a nice small produce section and of course you can get coffee and sandwiches. Customer service is going to seem "slow" to anyone accustomed to high volume shops in cities where they get their lunch or groceries but they are kind and friendly people and it's ok to slow down and enjoy the vibe. Spent the night across the street at the Wildflower Boutique Hotel. While the inn had coffee in the morning, after my subsequent jog to the wharf and back, I was craving something stronger. This market certainly supplied that kick, with my chai latte putting me into a state of full alert for the rest of the day. Went in there, no one said hello or even acknowledged us when we walked in. We were in there for about 20 minutes, and they didn't walk up to us or anything. They sent one of their employees to stand and just stare at us while we were in one of the aisles and was wasting and following us around but didn't say anything. Arena Market & Cafe is a pleasant find in Point Arena. While the downtown of Point Arena is quite small (blink and you'll miss it), it's nice to have a market as well stocked as Arena Market is. I expected a store with a few fruits, some chips and sodas, and perhaps bag and ice. Instead, while the vegetable and fruit section was small, it was high quality with much of the produce organic and not unreasonably priced. The refrigerated section was even better with a diverse array of small and bigger brands of organic milk, varieties of ice cream, multiple kombucha and organic drinks and several juice varieties. This isn't Whole Foods, but it was much better than I expected. We were also able to pickup a bag of charcoal and choose from among 6 different types of bottled water. Not too shabby. Service was friendly and Arena Market accepts credit cards, including American Express. read more
