Amazing in every way. Huge menu of vegan Mexican food, including empanadas, tacos, freshest homemade tortillas. They have a huge section of gluten-free items, so this is a mecca for people with gluten or dairy allergies. They even have quesadillas made with sunflower cheese that looks and tastes melty in miraculous ways I don't understand. Guac was perfect. All the seitan meats were seasoned with flavorful sauce that permeated all the way through. Nothing on the menu is expensive, especially considering the labor to prepare such complex vegan versions of an already laborious cuisine. I'll definitely return next time I'm passing through town. Listen on the asada burrito alone, this would be a 50/5 rating l o l but had to consider all the other bites and just overall experience. We came by on a weeknight around 6 pm and were able to squeeze into a table. I will say, this is my own fault for not noticing when we sat down, but we chose a table closer to the bathroom and I did not enjoy how it was left open with no sort of division or curtain to close off the area. I didn't enjoy seeing it or smelling the bathroom soap with my meal which was a bummer. The interior is a whole vibe otherwise and the decorations are so vibrant. You can order at the counter or via QR code and we opted for that for ease. We grabbed 2 of the empanadas, the asada burrito w/guacamole added, and 2 tacos (al pastor and frijoles). Listen I will dream about that delicious burrito for ages. The asada was so freakin delicious and the crispy crunchy bits were to die for; I literally fought my husband for the last bites. The tacos were also good and I enjoyed them both but the frijoles won over the al pastor. The empanadas were a miss for us though; the elote one was better than the potato and soyrizo but even then, the texture of the actual empanada was off and I just did not enjoy it. I'm sure they have had more of a crowd given their recent shout out (which is well deserved and should be celebrated!) but it legitimately took over 30 min for us to get any single item of food. We got a limonada which took ~15 min to come out then the food itself hit the table at about ~35 min with one item still missing. I want to give some grace to the extremely hardworking team and it was evident that they had a ton of to go/takeout orders, but maybe they can hit a balance between those and people dining in. They did seem spread very thin across the evening. I literally dreamt about that burrito on a subsequent day sooo you know I will be back. I was also so sad to not have their giant fries with delicious toppings because there was no way we could tackle that with everything we ordered, so definiiitely find me at Mis Tacones again. I came back for brunch and, to my dismay, they were so busy (which says a lot!) that they had already sold out of brunch and were switching over to the lunch menu. I ended up ordering a burrito stuffed with fries, and it was absolutely epic. I am literally craving that burrito right now. (Despite counter ordering, 18% tip is still the minimum stanard option they prompt you for.) We all ordered the Soyrizo & Huevo Desayuno ($18), a brunch plate with soyrizo tofu and potato scramble, refried beans, Mexican rice, a grilled jalapeno, some grilled onion, and a couple of corn tortillas. Very tasty scramble, though the refried beans were a bit oversalted. Huge portion -- very carb-heavy, would've preferred some veggies in here, but that's Mexican cuisine for you. Doesn't really hold a candle to authentic Mexican cuisine you get down in Mexico, but pretty solid for Portland / northern US. The coffees we ordered weren't great quality -- pretty weak and watery. Friend introduced me to this spot and I found it to be absolutely delicious! I'm not vegan, and loved everything. The salsas and cashew cheese dip were fantastic. Went for the alcoholic horchata, but they did have a full coffee bar I believe. They lost electricity in one part of the kitchen which may have affected the Service. One person kept saying something to the effect of, "I will have to trust you" when we told her some side items were missing from the order. It felt off-putting. We went for their Valentines dinner and honestly it was one of the most romantic and beautiful evenings we've ever had. It was decorated to the nines and the decor was made in house. As a vegan who loved Mexican food prior to becoming vegan, I have long lamented the dearth of good vegan Mexican food -- indeed, prior to discovering Mis Tacones, the best vegan tacos I've eaten were beans, guac and a vegan cabbage slaw. Tonight my dreams came true when I ordered -- and promptly devoured -- the vegan carne asada taco. Never have my taste buds danced with such ecstatic bliss as when savoring this bliss of spicy sabrosa-ness! Next I sampled the 3 Hermanos Empanada-- the interior was and cashew crema was delicious...and here is my only critique: the masa-based "pastry" (that enfolds the interior) was too heavy and dense. Now, truth be told my standards are epically high for empanadas, as I come from THE OTHER PORTLAND (Maine) and, as odd as this sounds for such a white-bread state, the best empanadas I've ever eaten (and there is a long list of empanada places I have eaten in NYC and SF) is in Portland Maine (it's called Quiero, and for good reason). So if I could conjure the greatest empanada ever made, it would involve the pastry shell from Quiero in Portland Maine with the interior 3 Hermanos filling from Mis Tacones in PDX. Mic drop, I'm out! Had an enjoyable visit over to Mis Tacones with some friends who were in town who are vegan. We needed an easy brunch spot and this fit the bill. I'll preface by saying that I personally am not vegan. Overall atmosphere is chill and fast casual I would say. Menu can be found at the table but you overall order at the counter which worked fine since it wasn't busy during our visit but I could see slowing things down. The decor is fun and festive with large murals and a lot of color. Food overall was tasty and satisfying. The portions I will say are good, and the general flavors are nice. We split the burrito with asada seitan, which packed a lot of flavor. I appreciated the salsas they had to go with the meals. I wouldn't go as far to say this was better than its meat alternative but it was a solid vegan option. Was disappointed after hearing all of the hype. I love how they use blue corn tortillas, but the taco flavors and stuffings were not as flavorful as expected. The corn empanada just had corn inside and it was a little dry with barely any flavoring. Meanwhile the tacos needed a lot of sauce. I tried one of the asada seitan tacos but unfortunately the seitan had that strange seitan-like flavor. That was my least favorite taco and I had to use a lot of salsa cover up the fake meat flavor. Although there is only a small amount of seating inside, the space is thoughtfully decorated creating a very fun and lively atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and personable. I ordered the Mulita de pollo, which is a gluten-free version of a quesadilla made with a corn tortilla instead of a flour tortilla. It was full of flavor and came with a great portion size. A vibrant spot with fun ambience and energy. We're immediately drawn by the La Chimi and Papas Nachos. Both the description and photos for these sounded/looked amazing. Unfortunately, only one item delivered...The Papas Nachos had a lot of potential with cremay and flavorful sauces, as well as an abundance of Al pastor, but the fries themselves were cold and soggy. A big no-no for me. I barely touched it. In contrast, the La Chimi was piping hot, freshly fried, and crispy on the outside. Love the generous amount of filling and guac in the burrito.
