I read all the reviews on Google and on Yelp before ordering from Mision Burrito. So many mixed messages. I need to set the record straight. Steak burrito: Steak was tender and had a great caramelized sear. The rice was cooked and seasoned well. I added guacamole and sour cream. I recommend you do the same. It came with a very fresh side salad. Simple with Romain lettuce and pico. Over all outstanding and in great condition considering we had it delivered. Chips and guacamole: The guacamole is as good as it gets. Seasoned well but not so much that you can't taste the rest of the ingredients. Also it was a generous portion. I read in a few reviews that it was overpriced. I disagree. This guacamole is just as expensive as any guacamole from any of the good Mexican restaurants in this area. Even of you bought the ingredients yourself it's $10+. Then you have to buy chips. The Chips were good but I wanted them to have more salt. But if this is the worst of it then I'll stand by my 5 star review. Order you burrito form Mission Burrito. They are worth it. read more

My family and I have been ordering food from here since I was a little kid. I am now in my 30's and still order from here a few times a year. Portions are always large and never disappoint. Food quality is excellent, and in my opinion, maybe the best value of any take-out/delivery restaurant when it comes to price, quality, and portion. Hard-working, family owned restaurant with attention to detail. On more than one occasion, one of the owners has delivered my meal. Chicken enchilada dinner is delicious. Chicken is moist and well-seasoned, and the tortilla is smothered in Jack cheese. Comes with a fresh salad, beans, and rice. Burritos are also excellent. Whoever took over this place needs to reintroduce seasoning back into the recipes. The food has suddenly become undeniably bland and forgettable. So, to put it right out there, my $14 steak burrito wasn't worth it. I would have bumped this bad boy up to 3 stars if said burrito was like $9 but, $14? This steak better be filet! Not to mention, I don't mean to hate but, delivery was quoted as 35 minutes and came about an hour and fifteen minutes. I personally don't mind but, just a heads up to y'all for reference purposes. Anyway, back to the food. The burrito was large with a fresh salad by it's side but, the burrito itself was nothing amazing. The steak were thin, over cooked, chewy pieces of meat. The beans and rice were definitely not flavorful. The guac was not thick and creamy but, was more of a thin pasty like guac. Overall, everything was pretty bland and definitely didn't satiate. Again, it would have sufficed if this beast was $8-$9 but, $14 is pretty steep in my opinion for Mexican food that wasn't of top ingredients in my opinion. Sadly, wasn't a win in my book. read more

I absolutely HATE writing negative reviews :( Especially when it's in my neighborhood that I want to flourish and have lived in for 20 years. Me and my family ordered from here a few months ago and got steak fajitas and chicken Fajitas. The chicken was fine, but the steak was the cheapest cut of meat full of grizzle. I swear our dog wouldn't eat it and I wish I made that up. We tried again recently thinking "fine.. we will just order the chicken" and try again to support the local spot. We call and ask about the nachos... There are a few different options. The most expensive ($12) offer gives you the addition of meat, but not guacamole, even though the $10 option does. We asked if it came with guacamole ...and the guy said "no " and we asked "why not" and he answered immediately yelling "no! At these prices! You can only have one or the other". And we said we would pay extra for it, but not now after being yelled at while we were already offering a second chance. It was really unpleasant and bad business. This place is my go-to for Tex mex along with the El Chilango truck! The service is lovely and I've never had any issues with either pickup or delivery, but note: it's cash only. The combo platter is easily two meals! The chili burrito is a little spicier than I can handle but sometimes I get it anyway. :) The only vegetarian option I've ever gotten is the Mexican salad and it's huge and tasty with lots of cactus. These guys have been a Hoboken staple for decades. Delivery is fast (faster than most delivery in town) and the food is delicious. Bay and Steak burritos are classics. The chicken tacos and fish tacos are also delicious. In these entrees, you also get rice and beans and a bit of salad to fill things out. The steak in the steak burritos used to be nicely grilled and a higher cut (?), but this year, I think they might be experimenting on the downside or have a different cook grilling the steak - its different from any in the past years. This place was my go to Mexican takeout when they were in Hoboken on 4th St. I was devastated when I realized they left because the new burrito place that took over in that spot isn't half as good. But I'm so happy I found them again. Their steak enchiladas are $14 with LOTS of steak overflowing the fresh corn tortillas. Plus you get rice, beans, salad and all the toppings. Oh and that little cup of hot salsa they give you with your order is amazing! They always get the order right. And, it's never more than 30 mins from ordering to my door so my food arrives still hot. My old roommate in Hoboken pointed me to this nondescript storefront. I know burrito ratings are a very contentious topic with enough east coast/west coast rivalry to start a war, but this is my favorite burrito anywhere. There are no special sauces or crazy toppings. It's simple, fast, and good. There are 4-6 window counter seats facing out on 4th St, and a few fenced-in plastic tables outside when the weather is warm. I liked sitting outside during the summer because it faces a playground that's bustling with activity. I've only ever ordered the "Burrito." With beef. But the food is delicious, fresh and made to order. I have had both the chili burrito and the steak burrito; both are around $11-14 each and they are HUGE! I recommend getting one and splitting it or go with two and have it for lunch the next day. I prefer the steak burrito over the chili; but then again I love red meat and feel that the chili doesn't give me enough. The steak burrito is strip steak grilled to perfection and to your liking. They then stuff the burrito with rice, red or black beans , sour cream, and guac. Very reasonable prices for the food you get. This could easily be two meals worth of food if you aren't ravenous when you go there! This is a hidden gem in the Heights right on Palisade ave, I drove by it so many times before stopping in on a whim. It's almost completely bare on the inside, but don't let that weird you out.
