I went through the drive- thru. I ordered 2 sushi rolls. The rolls were ok, nothing special. They were expensive at $8 to $9 each. I was disappointed. The service was ok, a little on the slow side. I cannot recommend Miso for sushi rolls. I am from the Oregon Coast where they have excellent sushi. read more

My friend and I went to have a girls lunch and we ate off of the regular menu, our food was very good. This is NOT Japanese food! The flavors are not the taste of Japan at all. The miso soup had no miso. It was just water in a bowl with a slice of mushroom. The fried rice was loaded with soy sauce and oil with a side of (obviously from a can) sliced, mushy carrots. This is an insult to real Japanese cuisine. read more

The manager at the miso was so rude!! i have never had a problem there till tonight. We asked to speak to the owner and they refused! They said they called the owner and they refused to cash in my gift card! The balding manager told us we couldn't cash in the certificate that i got as a gift card.which we got it at that store. He told me that Miso'a is a "mom and pop shop" and self owned. He couldn't provide a phone number to the corporate place. As he said they didn't have a corporate . DO NOT EAT HERE! I called very nicely and said to their customer service representative "Michael" that they had forgotten the general chicken in my order. He exclaimed to me that he was "sorry this happened but grub hub is a sh**ty system and I'm sorry it fu***led you." Who says that to a customer?! TLDR: Food poisoning sucks You're in the same neighborhood as two grocery stores - better off buying sushi from there. It wasn't the worst, but also what can you expect from a sushi place 5 hours from the ocean. Place was clean, staff was friendly, prices were fair. They forgot our second drink and spicy mayo but were nice to fix the mistake. Rolls were warm, which was a bit odd but we were so hungry we chowed down anyway. Unfortunately, my boyfriend got horrible food poisoning and without going into too much detail - it wasn't pretty. We won't be returning, but if you're really craving a California roll and don't mind hanging out with Ralph on the Big White Telephone all night, try this place out. read more

3 stars because this experience was ... weird. So I will start with the good- complimentary miso soup upon arrival was a nice start to our meal. The casual atmosphere was welcoming to parents of young kids who may be afraid to go elsewhere. The sushi and crab rangoons were pretty good and the portions of other entrees were large. And then the weird... the first thing our server said was that she was sorry she is a wreck because she is new and another employee got sick and left her alone. We felt bad and are pretty chill so we told her not to worry about it- we didn't realize that her nervous stress would be all we heard about the whole time. Idk just how new she was because she told us a few weeks ago she dumped a bottle of sauce or something BUT she actually did fine with the exception of a few drink mixups and check splitting issues but with each visit to our table she told us how awful she was and how she probably messed everything up and she would be surprised if she got our order right. The first time it was funny, the 62 times after that were just annoying. Hopefully she gets some support from her coworkers and can get better with time... and ps- 7 of the 10 fortune cookies we got didn't even have fortunes lol read more

Quick, friendly service with nice decor and environment making the experience feel slightly upscale. Meal started with miso aperitif brought as we were greeted by waiter. The sushi was delicious with several pages of variety. Most rolls did feature some kind of calorie-laden sauce as another yelper reviewed but I'm sure they can omit if it offends. This place is amazing it's a little expensive, but for how good everything tastes and how the presentation is it's so worth it. We always start with an appetizer of Crab Rangoon's they are the best, for drinks we get the Iced Green Tea it is the best BUT they don't have it anymore so just regular tea is fine. Now for food, My friend always gets a Bento Box with Orange Chicken, Super California Roll, and Broccoli, I sometimes get the Bento Box but with General Tso Chicken AMAZING, but I usually get the This Is How We Roll, the best sushi roll ever, also my little sister can't have Gluten so they have the Philadelphia Roll which is technically gluten free but make sure it doesn't have the fake crab in it cause that's not gluten free. No, I will not be returning to Miso anytime soon. At first I was excited to learn that Elizabethton was to get a Japanese restaurant ... then I got a look at the menu. Most of the rolls have cream cheese, spicy mayo, "eel sauce", "fantasy sauce" or some such nonsense on them, and they offer lots of additional sauces on the Side Orders menu. Good sushi does not need to be drowned in all that mess ... nor does it need to be deep fried. The only raw fish they offer is tuna on the spicy tuna roll and that is drenched in spicy mayo. I found it odd that they offer crab rangoon, gyoza, eggrolls, and firecracker shrimp. I guess this technically makes Miso a heavily Americanized Japanese-Chinese-Thai Terriyaki-Sushi restaurant-drive thru. Another oddity is that they call their restaurant Miso and do not offer Miso soup! The menu is also confusing with all the substitutions they allow, additional fees, and lunch / dinner versions. So, with all that in mind I decided to give them a try with something very simple. I used the drive-thru and ordered a California roll and a seaweed salad. And both items were warm. The seaweed salad had lost that bright and crisp flavor. It was just a lump of room temperature flavorless green stuff. You couldn't really taste the crab or the avocado in the California roll because it was also warm. It all got mushed together, and there was barely any crunch in the cucumber. If they can't get a simple California roll right, why should I go back to try anything else? read more

First time at Miso but it didn't disappoint. Very nice atmosphere and somewhat clean place. A couple of tables still needed cleaning. The waitress Crystal seemed a little frazzled but took good care of us. I ordered the steak with rice and carrots. When the waitress brought or food she spilled a small amount of my steak. First of all, we were the only people in here with the exception of a couple who was finishing up their meal. There was no crowd. My partner requested for a item, which she forgot. We waited for an abnormally long time for the food (we go to the location in Johnson City, and they are a lot quicker with more customers). As we waited for our food, one of the employees was picking her teeth with a toothpick behind the counter. Upon paying, our total was $27 and some change, but she charged us for $37. Yesterday was my first visit to Miso and I was terribly disappointed. I ordered 2 simple sushi rolls, an avocado roll and a Philly roll. I wasn't allowed to substitute the avocado for cucumber on the Philly roll, but ordered it anyways. Both rolls were inedible as they were warm and falling apart. I ate maybe 3 pieces, but I just couldn't eat the warm sushi. It was the absolute worst sushi I've ever ate and sadly, had better sushi from a buffet. Not only that, my mom's teriyaki chicken was bland and had no taste, but she said she could add enough shrimp sauce to make hers taste better. The waiter informed us that the prices would have been cheaper at their Johnson City location which I found not only unfair, but also unprofessional. The only redeeming quality this place had was after the waiter asked me twice if I wanted a carry-out box for my sushi, both times responding no, the second time I did tell him that I didn't like it at all and the cost was removed from our ticket. At least we didn't have to pay for food I couldn't eat. I won't be giving this place a second chance, despite everyone else's reviews appear positive, our experience wasn't. read more
