I had a good experience at Miss Donuts & Bagels (La Verne). I ordered the Chocolate Donut ($1.85). It's very fresh, fluffy, and clean. YUM! (Important: There's a $2.50 credit card minimum. Fortunately, there's no added fee for card. If purchasing below, bring cash.) I arrived at Miss Donuts & Bagels (La Verne) on Sunday (around 7:15AM). Parking is simple. There's a small private customer lot that holds about 10 vehicles; there's a sign that says, "1 Hour Customer Parking Only." There's also a nearby public lot and street parking. This location is very close to the University of La Verne. Staff is courteous and helpful. Staff quickly helped me, and Staff answered all my questions. On ambiance, Miss Donuts & Bagels (La Verne) is worn-down and ugly. Fortunately, it didn't feel dirty. The location was not dust, and it felt well-ventilated with the fan. This location also felt cramped with its eight tiny tables. This place does not feel comfortable enough to linger. Overall, Miss Donuts & Bagels (La Verne) is genuinely surprising because their donuts are fairly tasty. The dough tasted fresh, and its fluffy texture is addicting. It's not too sweet either. For about five years, I drove past this place almost every day, and there was always a line of people stretching out the door. That alone told me it had to be good. One day, I finally decided to stop in and see what all the hype was about. I got there right when they opened, so there was literally no one there. I took a look at the menu and ordered an apple fritter and a ham and cheese breakfast bagel. The shop itself is really nice. It's your classic neighborhood donut shop--clean, well-kept, with indoor seating and its own parking lot. Now, let's talk about the bagels... Oh my God--they are SO good! I've been back about three times now, and every visit has been just as delicious as the last. When I say they're not stingy with the eggs, ham, or cheese, I'm not kidding. They really load these bagels up, and every bite is worth it. I'm sorry I didn't post any pictures, but trust me--the photos that are already on here don't lie. Everything I've ordered has been absolutely delicious. This is exactly the kind of neighborhood bagel shop you hope to find. 7:00am in the morning as a new customer. No friendly greetings by the women or the man. Plus, Worst coffee ever!!!! The hot coffee is self served. You pay for a refill too. (Didn't get one but just heads up.) The iced coffee was sooooo sweet. And the worst part was that it smelled like fish inside the shop. Because it was definitely being cooked at that time I went in. You are better off going to Starbucks near the shop. Or even Dunkin Coffee if you want a bargain that actually tastes good. Please don't cook fish at a doughnut shop. It's not a good combination. I left a one star review over a MONTH ago and the owner just now responded with a rude comment instead of a helpful solution for other customers. I work down the street and came during my lunch break around 11:50AM to grab a donut or even a croissant and it was EMPTY as shown in the photo. To top it off, the employee was very rude about it. Therefore, this is not a place I will ever come back to considering very rude people work here as well as a rude owner. The owners argument to my response is that they close in ONE HOUR AND 10 MINUTES so WHY should they make more donuts? Interesting... I see they clearly do not value their customers here as this was not the point at all. Possible solutions: 1. Apologize for not having any donuts left at a donut shop and let the customer know "sorry, we usually run out an hour and 10 minutes before we close so come 2 hours before we close next time" 1. If you know you're going to run out an HOUR before closing time then maybe change your business hours to closing at 12PM. 2. If you do not normally run out at that hour, then why wouldn't you want to make more donuts for your customers? ITS A DONUT SHOP... A group of us got together for the Fourth of July parade in Laverne. The closest thing open was Miss donuts and bagels and there was a line down the street. I think my first impression was they had such a large selection of delicious looking donuts. The staff were completely polite and thorough and attentive. We ordered the breakfast bagel with bacon egg, and cheese and then I ordered a breakfast croissant with bacon, egg, and cheese. I brought it back over to the group and they absolutely loved it. We did get a large orange juice and I think my only critique would be if they did freshly squeezed orange juice. This tasted like tang. But I was pretty impressed by the team. They knew my name and then I stepped out and came back to see if my order was ready and they knew my name and what I ordered. I have been going here for many years. Never had a bad experience until today. My grandson came here this morning. We purchased croissants bagels juice coffee, etc. When my grandson and I approached the cashier to pay another employee came to the already present cashier and quietly said something to her in their language and then she reached over her and removed the bills from the tip jar directly next to me. I asked her if she thought I was going to steal the money? She said "oh no, too full". I have never seen an employee remove tips and stuff them in her pocket during a transaction before. My grandson was quite upset about this also as he also felt this was clearly targeted at us and in front of other customers. I could only imagine if I spoke my English language in front of anyone of a different language and removed tips in front of them.. now that would be viewed quite differently wouldn't it?
