I was really disappointed with my experience. I ordered a vanilla latte, but it tasted like almost all milk with very little coffee flavor. I politely asked the barista if they could fix it, but she seemed annoyed. Instead of offering to remake the drink, she just added another shot of espresso. I still had to add sweetener myself and try to fix the drink on my own. We also ordered a breakfast burrito and a breakfast sandwich. The food was okay, but nothing special. Considering how expensive this place is, I expected much better quality and customer service--especially when it came to correcting a coffee order. For the prices they charge, they should be willing to remake a drink that wasn't made correctly. I want to add the guy who took our order was super nice and helpful. read more

I visited recently and was extremely disappointed. While this has always been an order-at-the-counter restaurant, it used to serve meals on real plates with proper silverware, making it feel like a casual restaurant. Now everything is served on eco-friendly paper plates with paper cups and plastic utensils, giving the entire experience the feel of a fast-food establishment. After ordering, they take your name and call it out when your food is ready. Some customers had their food brought to the table while others had to pick it up themselves, so the service felt inconsistent and disorganized. The food itself was just okay, but the portions were poorly balanced. Half the plate was buried under tater tots or potatoes, which seemed completely unnecessary and likely results in a tremendous amount of food being thrown away. The oversized pile of potatoes also overwhelmed the actual meal. The presentation didn't help. Being served on paper plates made the experience feel more like eating at a backyard barbecue or buffet than dining at a restaurant. I have no words to describe the place itself, or the taste of the food, aside from WOW!!! I loved it, and it was our first time ever being there. I had taken my boyfriend out for his birthday and we couldn't decide on what to have for the morning before our plan for the day so we came across this amazing place last minute and we both enjoyed it! Filling, but worth it in my opinion. We want to go back for sure sometime soon! I got the chilaquiles and everything from texture to the spice and all ingredients, meshed well together! Stacked with prosciutto, pesto, garlic mayo, arugula, provolone, and egg... every single bite hits. That pesto + garlic mayo combo?! Absolutely ridiculous--in the best way possible. Do yourself a favor and ask for extra garlic mayo... trust me. Then I tried the gluten-free "almost flourless" lemon cake (pictured) and I was NOT ready. Mind officially blown. A friend lives in the area and since a few of us were meeting, she suggested Butter Cafe and Bakery for breakfast on a Saturday morning. For 8:30 am on a Saturday morning, this place was quite busy and the flow of customers did not stop the entire time we were there. There was plenty of parking in front and to the side of the cafe, as it is at the end of the strip mall. The display case of baked good intrigued me and I was divided between the Banana Bread and another item but after asking the cashier, he also suggested the Banana Bread. Since it was my first visit, I tend to purchase a bit more to enjoy later as I am unsure if I'll get the chance to stop by again. Banana Bread (pass) $5.75 When trying the Banana Bread later that afternoon, it was dry and not very delicious. We bake better Banana Bread at home, so it was not worth the $5.75. All the food and drinks were served on/in disposable containers, which from reviews, it seems like they started doing that since covid and have continued to do so. Service is interesting but overall nothing to complain about. One orders at the counter and they call your order for you to pick-up but with the acoustics in the restaurant, one may not hear their order being called. Sometimes an employee would bring a drink or so around to the customer if they did not hear their order being called, which was nice because it could get quite noisy on the inside. This is most definitely a family-oriented restaurant and I love see people of all ages enjoy time together, especially over breakfast. I've been coming to butter cafe for a while now. I either come to dine in or I'll just DoorDash when I'm feeling lazy. Their crispy potato things are so good and the portions here are huge. My go to meal here is their breakfast burrito. I get the chorizo and sausage. I love their hot sauce, salsa and sour cream that comes with it. It always hits. Never have I had a bad burrito here. I also like their honey matcha. It's so darn delicious and refreshing! When I do dine in the restaurant has great lighting and always so clean. The service is very friendly and attentive. I will be coming here plenty of times as long as they stay open. I know they have another location in Upland, but I live really close by the San Dimas location. Keep up the great work. Get the potatoes!!! These are the best potatoes I have ever had in my life. They were crunchy with a soft center and piled high with my omelette. My kids both got the kids pancake breakfast and the pancakes were nice and fluffy. Every thing is served on disposable dishware and take out utensils. The restaurant has about 12 tables, but not good for large groups. It's pretty packed on weekends, but a table usually opens up fairly quick. 2 adult meals and 2 kids meal ran us about $60. read more

I really like the taste of the food here and the staff is really friendly. However, they can't cook an over easy egg for nothing! We've got been here several times and I really enjoy the Loco Moco, but I have resigned myself from knowing that I will never get my eggs cooked correctly. It's eggs over hot rice and covered with hot gravy. Suggesting to barely cook the eggs on the grill and then but on rice and let the hot rice and gravy finish cooking the eggs. Just saying. Even on the avocado toast the eggs came out overcooked. I mention this, hoping that someone from the restaurant will read this and talk to the chef. I REALLY do like the food and I can deal with overcooked eggs but it would be better if they cooked the eggs as ordered or just don't ask anymore how to cook the eggs because they all come out the same. I asked my table neighbor if their eggs came out how they ordered and they said no but because it tastes good like me they don't say anything. Always a plus . This little café is really clean. The seats are comfortable. It has a really cool mellow atmosphere that just invites a nice relaxing time. 5 stars for service. I clicked and re-clicked the stars- 4 or 5, 4 or 5?! I ended at 4 because I'm not judging service alone. Let it be said again though, that service is 5 star. Sometime there's a line, but it's worth the wait. I've been responsible for that line. Twice. Long story short: I placed a seriously convoluted order, on one occasion twice back to back and on another occasion once by itself. Staff was incredibly accommodating. I'm talking, incredibly accommodating with an incredibly convoluted order, for pickup at different times at different dates. Vegetarian review: Tots: good. Crispy, nicely done. Standard tots. Chilaquiles: slightly soggy. It's partially my fault, since I should know better than to order them to-go. The sogginess isn't really the issue- it's the cardboard-papery to-go box that goes gross rather quickly. Yes- they have plastic containers that they use for baked food. The chilaquiles themselves were also just ok. Not great, but ok. The experience is enough to bring me back, try something else, and render judgement again (how terrible does THAT sound? 'Render judgement'.. who I even think I am...). Snickerdoodle: soft and chewy, with just the right amount of sugar and spice. Single gripe: I placed a to-go order that included soda, and it was for pickup in about am hour. I watched them put the soda in cups as I was there and leave them on the counter. What a disappointment. I went today July 31st and was debating what coffe I needed to get since it was my first time at first there was two people who were trying to help me with information regarding a coffee, but when I went to the cashier young lady, what seem to be annoyed because I didn't know what I wanted to get because I'm not familiar with their coffees literally told me if you wanna get a man go sit down you can do that. I was like what with that loan I knew I wasn't gonna come back to this place. You could feel a nasty vibe from her super unprofessional and you can tell she didn't wanna be there. I literally just got my strawberry cookie and left that place. I was gonna have breakfast and coffee but just with her presents and attitude that convince me otherwise maybe if we're gonna have customer service receptionist in the front, it would be nice if I can actually have good customer service. In advance when I apologize for the manager that I have to write this review I know it's not fair for you, but that's not what I'm trying to experience when I go to a coffee shop for the first time perhaps I would encourage changing that cashier at the moment, especially now that you guys are trying to promote your business read more

I'm so happy I finally got to try the food at Butter! This was my first time having breakfast tacos and they were delicious. They were properly filled so you had more substance than tortilla. I also really liked the side salad. Not many places serve salad for breakfast so I applaud Butter. The last item I ordered was a latte which was okay, nothing special but nothing bad to note. There is plenty of seating. I looked around for outlets because I think this would be a great spot to work from but unfortunately could not easily find some. I docked one star because this meal was quite expensive. I understand they use high quality ingredients but it adds up. I don't agree with charging customers $0.75 for milk alternatives when organic milk is used regularly and which probably close in cost. All that said, I will be returning but just not as often! read more

I love coming to Butter! They have a good variety of breakfast entrees, pastries, and Filipino/Hawaiian breakfast. Also creative and tasty coffee drinks, like a cookie milk latte. On this trip we got the coffee cake which has a tasty streusel topping, Oreo cookie (which is like a chocolate chip cookie with Oreo pieces in it), and the kalua pork hash with rice, eggs, and gravy. Everything was tasty! In the past I've had the French toast which comes with a yummy scoop of vanilla cream and fruit. They also have French toast with passionfruit and another one with pandan. I really like the tropical flavors they offer on the menu. You order up at the counter and they'll announce your name when your order is ready. Servers have always been friendly. They have a decent amount of indoor seating and a little bit of outdoor seating. It can get a little busy (like any brunch place) on weekends, but I've never had to wait super long. I just wanted the people at Butter Cafe and Bakery to know that my husband said that his breakfast burrito was the best he's ever had. He talked about it for several days, and told everyone he came in contact with that it was great and "very compact -- there were no air pockets in it." This is very important, apparently. In any case, the breakfast burrito looked great on his plate, but I never got to taste it because he devoured it. Avocado toast was what I ordered, and it, too, was delicious. The toast part was unique. It's challah bread dipped in custard, so basically a piece of French toast. On top is mashed avocado, eggs, arugula and a lemon vinaigrette. You get a choice of side (fruit, tots or home fries), and I got the home fries and they were amazing. Honestly, these fried potatoes were the best part of an already excellent meal. The home fries were perfectly fried, with mealy centers. I'm still thinking about these potatoes. My children shared a kids' pancake breakfast. The kids' pancake breakfast plate is big, even though it's meant for one child. It's three small pancakes, two scrambled eggs and two pieces of bacon or sausage. My oldest child said that his pancake was his favorite thing that he ate while we visited the area, so there you go. Also, FYI: The kids' pancake breakfast is the only kid-related thing on the menu. They have no other kid things. I even tried to order a kid-sized burger, and they told me they don't do that. We were initially a little put off because the prices were a little high. after many years i'm glad to still have this gem around, i know its difficult to keep a business open in this area so im grateful it's still here and thriving! i love trying out their seasonal drinks like their different matchas. the inside is always kept well cleaned and i like how they have their to go trays up front free to grab so you don't have to bother anyone. my only complaint recently would be the customer service of a certain employee, she is tall with dark curly hair and glasses. i haven't had one good interaction with her yet. i get up to the register to order and i never receive a "hi" "hello" "how are you" "what can i get for you today" all i get is a stare, and when she gives me my food she doesn't say anything either not one "here you go" "have a good day", i've also noticed she doesn't greet the customers in front of me either‍ not sure if this is her first job but greeting your customers truly is the bare minimum on a better note, this place has the best fries and tater tots!! super crispy every time! i'm also a fan of their chipotle or spicy ranch? i'm not sure what exactly it's called. and just like every other review i also really like their breakfast burrito, i normally get full off of just half! read more
