It has been years since I've known about their seasonal peach donut, I finally got to try it after 8years of missing it! When I bought the peach donut, I was expecting something like the strawberry donut where each piece would be coated well and crisp exterior when you bite. Unfortunately, the peaches fall apart and sort of 'slump' over and does not maintain a crisp fruit texture. While off-putting, the slices themselves are coated with something very pungent, I had a piece in one of my two donuts that felt like there was a sort of 'extract'-level ingredient that made it feel like it was taking away from the peach. As much as I love peaches, this one does not slap as hard as the strawberry. I give this a 5 just for the uniqueness of the donut casing and strawberries. (Also not a fan of the tiger tail, it is said to be the next best item here, but it just lacks flavor throughout the tail) read more

This is my second time here, and I came back to try their seasonal peach donut. Unfortunately, it's not as good as their strawberry, in my opinion. The peach tasted like it was a bit on the older side. It had an aftertaste that was kind of astringent, like it was overripe. I'm unsure if the methods they use to prepare the peaches make that flavor or if that is the intended taste, but after months of waiting, I thought the peach donut was a letdown. Their strawberry donut is absolutely amazing. I've never had anything like it. I thought it would be super sweet because of how it looks, but it isn't. It's super messy to eat, but I couldn't stop until I finished it. After trying it, I even watched the little documentary on how they prep the strawberries. It was very interesting to watch. I also tried their tiger tail, and it was okay. I didn't think it was amazing. Their original glaze was also not bad. I do prefer Primo's Donuts on Sawtelle. Their dough for the original glaze is really good. Service is also very quick. You may think the long line will take a long time, but it goes by quickly. There is a small parking lot in the back. There are also a few trash cans if you plan on eating there and need to throw your trash away. I highly recommend eating the donuts right away. The peach donut was definitely not good the second day. We were passing by on a roadtrip and I requested that we make a quick pit stop because I'd heard about this place on social media. For once, social media didn't disappoint! Was definitely a worthwhile stop! They have a small parking lot, we very easily found a spot and got in a very short line to get our donuts at the time of day we went. Service was very friendly and prompt. We got the strawberry donut and the old fashioned donut. Wow that strawberry donut was delicious. We split it between the two of us and luckily they gave us a fork because this is definitely not a handheld donut! Honestly some of the best strawberries we've tasted in the states. My Tiger Tail was fresh, soft, and delicious. It is almost as long as my forearm. Service was quick and friendly. Depending upon when you go, there may be a crowd lined up for their donuts. The donuts here are priced a tad more than you would pay at other donut shops; HOWEVER, they are all totally worth the extra few cents, as these donuts are DELICIOUS and filling. You MAY feel a little guilty about eating donuts, but one bite of any donut from the Donut Man and that guilt will quickly disappear. Decided to stop at Donut Man because my husband was craving something sweet, and he knows this place has a wide assortment of donuts, including specialty ones. The sweet aroma you smell, when walking up to the window is such an inviting scent. As usual we picked out some of our favorites along with several others. Their donuts are ALWAYS fresh, and perfectly balanced with a texture that's light and airy. The lemon is my favorite, and peanut butter and jelly is my daughter's favorite. After ordering a dozen of donuts, I ordered a Coke Zero. This brings me to the only reason for not giving this place a 5 star. The first sip of my soda tasted as if the ice or soda absorbed all of the donut and grease odors. It did not taste like a Coke Zero. It tasted like a glazed donut. Great (though expensive) donuts, intentionally insulting service. Donut Man has always been too far away to go from our home(s) to just visit there, and there aren't any other businesses in the area to do errands. So it's been a while since we visited. But during our return from Palm Desert back to Long Beach, we took a slight detour to Glendora to pick up their famous donuts during late morning, hoping that it wasn't too busy. There wasn't much of a line, with plenty of surface parking nearby. It's walk-up only, with a small window in the front where you place your order and get your box. The guy manning the window was giving off strange vibes: definitely felt it as I watched him interact with the customers in front of us: telling vs listening. The exit to the line is the same as the entrance, so the previous customers had to squeeze past us. I then waited for the cashier to come back...as he did and before I could speak, he slammed shut the screen on the window in my face and yelled something to the effect of ~I'm busy, will come back in a bit~. The slamming of the door is a practiced bit, and was meant to show everyone who was in charge. He did come back in a bit, but by this time I was nonplussed. I knew what to order (thank goodness), but then he asks 'What kind of strawberry?'...idk. So I pointed to the famous strawberry (as mentioned on the receipt)...no response, but he must have gotten what he wanted. Then his next response was 'You will pay for this AFTER I've boxed up the donuts' as he pointed to the credit card machine. What's funny was that he smiled and joked with his co-workers while he was doing this (just not at the customers)...so this must be the normal here. We got 5 things in total: 2 tiger tails ($3.40 each), 2 strawberry ($6.50), 1 sugar ($2.05). All were excellent donuts , with the whole strawberries being used not being overly sweet this time. The dough used for the donuts reminds me of a very good Chinese donut holes: a bit yeasty, but not as much as a KrispyKreme, and not cakey at all. With a sugar glaze, it very well could be my perfect donut. The donuts are indeed all that, but the possibility of such rude customer interaction (and that the owners are putting him and his attitude out in front instead of in the back where it belongs) negates any inclination to want to return (note to my future self). read more

I've been a fan of Donut Man since the early 2000's. The donuts we're always fresh and tasted like pure donuts. The cake donuts we're soft and the raised donuts had a the textura of a light pillow. The crueller dough was just the right amount of "elasticity" I was there last night and bought all my favorites to share with friends and ice never felt so disappointed. The cake donuts we're dry and flavorless. The raised donuts weren't tender and tasted days old. Everything has the flavor of old oil. Super disappointed after so many years of iconic donuts. Have they changed ownership again? Until they raise the quality I can't recommend them anymore. The service is fine and at least they now take cards for payment, along with cash. read more

Donut Man is an institution from 1972 started by Jim and Miyoko Nakano, Japanese Americans seeking to achieve "the American Dream". The shop first started as Foster's Donuts, a franchise, but there was a decision to go independent, and Donut Man was born. My two iconic donut versions include fresh fruit, namely Peach and Strawberry. My favorite is the Peach which has perfectly ripe yellow meat, that melts in your mouth without being gooshy. Summer fragrance of Peach lingers. The glaze is not too sweet and makes the generous peach slices glisten. A round, puffy, golden brown, sugar glazed, holeless donut with a lightly leathery skin is slit open and all this fruit is stuffed inside. The same for their strawberry version. Both of these fresh fruit donuts are only in the summer season. Strawberry in late spring, early summer and peaches in mid summer through early fall. Other seasonal styles like pumpkin frosting are found around Halloween-Thanksgiving. Don't always believe their webpage which was touting cream puffs filled with whipped cream cheese with fruits like blueberries. But when I went to the order window and asked for one, the salesperson looked at me with no clue of what I was talking about. The right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing. Finally - Mr Donut Man! I've been wanting to try the strawberry donut but the idea of waking up early to wait in line never really worked out for me - so when I called tonight to ask if they had the infamous strawberry donut and was told yes - I drove over at 10:30 pm. Best part no line. - The strawberry donut was sooo yummy! It's a a tad pricey at $6.50, but it's on par with a dessert at a restaurant, so not that bad. The iced donut paired perfectly and it really didn't disappoint. - maple donut was also really good! It's a nice fluffy donut with the right amount of maple. Glendora, CA 5 stars for the apple fritter. The massive size of this fritter studded with cinnamon apples and raisins can easily be shared between at least two or more people. They put this fritter in a box the size of a large square cake box. They usually make these at night time. From what I understand the apple fritter is the last donut they make for the night, so sometime between 9PM -12AM. Eating the fritter warm is a treat. read more

It's been recognized as a unique donut place.. they are known for their strawberry filled and peaches filled donuts. Those are pretty big and I think they can be split. Or if you have a big appetite, you can eat it all. I stopped here today and I got a red velvet which I've never had before. It was pretty good. It was kind of dry on the dough part. The cream on top tasted exactly like a pumpkin pie and the donut itself had such a fluffy texture. My husband ordered the old fashioned and really enjoyed his donut as well. I don't consider myself a donut person and never go out of my way to get donuts, but on occasion I will get them from here. Reason being is that their donuts are made with a different base than your average donuts. They have such a light fluffy consistency and freshness you just don't get anywhere else and that's why I like Donut Man so much. It has been a really long time since I came here last, one thing I can confidently say is that it tastes just like it did many years ago--and it's great to see they are still doing really well. This spot also comes with a lot of memories, like coming here in the evenings with my friends back in my high school days, or after church. I arrived just before 12am on. Thursday night. There was still a line of about 6 people at that hour on that day, which shocked me, but they are famous and any time of the day is a good time for donuts and coffee. Noticed a couple of EMTs in line working an overnight shift. I was very happy they are open 24 hours a day. Not many donut stores, or restaurants in general and I was coming home for a concert and needed a pick-me-up. I got the famous strawberry donut, how could I not? And a small coffee. They had just made a fresh tray of them and hadn't even put them in the window yet. It was DIVINE! It looks soooo sweet, but when you bite into it, it totally isn't. Just fresh strawberry flavor busting through with a very light pie-like glaze and a super fluffy donut as the vehicle to carry it. One of my favorite donut experiences ever, I must say. So one part that I didn't expect to be impressed about was the small coffee. I put just a hint of half and half in there and it was so flavorful. It didn't have to be good. The donuts are the star, but it happened to be the perfect medium roast to pair with the donuts. I drank it all the way home and kept getting reimpressed every time I took a sip. I understand I went late at night, which probably meant I got some of the freshest items that they were preparing for the following morning rush, so maybe that is the hack. The cashier was super cool and friendly with me for it being the graveyard shift. They're know especially for their seasonal fresh fruit donuts. I've known about this place for years and actually got donuts at the DTLA Grand Central Market location. My recent visit here would be my first at this location. I was in the area because I was trying to catch the new Superman movie on IMAX and the theater nearby had an IMAX screen. It was a later showing so since this place is open 24 hours, I thought it would be great to stop by and grab some donuts on my way home. Since it was late at night, there was no line. The person taking my order was helpful and was pretty standard in terms of service when going to late night donuts spots like this. I got a fresh strawberry donut among a couple other donuts that looked really good. The donuts are pretty large. I got four and it fit the box they had. They may no have more than 10-20 types of donut but each donut type will have choice of flavors. For example, old fashioned comes with glazed, plain, or chocolate. While we were ordering, many customers started coming in. I truly enjoyed my donut as I love strawberries with glaze. The strawberries are bright red, sweet, juicy, and wholesome. They are so fresh and firm. I must confess that I enjoyed the strawberries more than the donut part itself. I wish I had some whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles, so I can call this my birthday donut. Keep in mind that the strawberry donuts are seasonal, which is a little bit of a bummer. Fresh Strawberry Donut: This is what makes donut man so famous. It truly does not disappoint. There were so many strawberries packed about 7-9 in a donut. Strawberries were about a 1-2 preserved strawberry that had a slight tart and sweetness while being soft but having a fresh texture interior. Donut itself was fluffy and lightly glazed. I appreciate that they packaged the donut by wrapping with wax paper all around the donut, it made the packaging last long so that the glaze didn't make box damp. read more
