Best diner food I've had in a long time. Googled diners in Johnstown this was one of the choices and the google reviews were very good. After a night of drinking. Tried it and was very pleased. Great food and a great hometown feel. I got what they called the grand glam much better then other diners with a grand glam on their menu. I Looking forward to the next time I'm in Johnstown to go again. Which I'm hoping it's very soon because I must try more of their food. They are open 24/7. I went at 10 A.M. and they were a little busy but I got my food in a timely manner. Definitely give this diner 5 stars because I can't give them 10+ hometown feel they waitress was nice and was quick to refill my coffee! read more

I will fight anyone in the parking lot if they speak poorly of the MJD. For those who have been there, it's a special place. Sure it looks like a condemned trailer and its signature dish (Mac and gravy) is not filet mignon with Miso-Truffle Butter. But when you have just choked down 12 bud lights, chased it with 2 Irish car bombs and closed the bar down with 6 G&Ts, I defy you to find something more suited to set you up for a productive day. They are also very crafty when it comes to evading child labor laws. The cooks are usually placed through the "Hire a Convict" program but the wait staff run between 13-15 years old. The only thing better than the food is the ambiance. You could be sitting next to a truck driver, a college student home from break or poorly vetted tinder date. My advice is soak it in, the gravy, the conversation, the smell of deep frier oil and broken dreams. It's the MJD baby! read more

A small little diner that doesn't look like much until you go inside. A little cramped with odd decor and choice of TV station, but everyone there is very friendly and treat you like family. The food is spectacular and so are the beverages. I've been there many times and recommend the chicken tenders and grilled cheese. Will definitely come back! read more

This is the perfect hometown diner. We were camping at Caroga Lake and needed a nice diner for breakfast. This was everything I had hoped it would be. I didn't see a single grain of salt or any seasoning on my burger or fries and the mushrooms from the burger were so undercooked they crunched like slimy pickles. Sit at the counter or get a table, if you can get one as the place fills up with drunken revelers for good drunk food. It's your typical greasy spoon. Good service, tasty diner food. The cooking area is just behind the counter and it could have been cleaner.

We thought they were kidding when the young guys at the end of the counter recommended the Mac and gravy. Nope. They weren't. Maybe it was the late night hour, but our party of four loved it!!!! But even better was the main food. The cheeseburger mess plate was stupendous, especially the fries. Cheesesteak? Not so much. My wife ordered the thick cut French toast which was a genuine surprise to find in a small diner but nonetheless an absolute treat when it came! I decided on the house special that was offered .. 2 eggs , toast, ham! I was torn for a little more of a meal so the waitress offfeted an additional pancake to the order which worked in perfect! As my wife and I enjoyed our drinks I noticed our waitress was at the grill preparing our meals while tending to others customers needs! As soon as our food was ready it was served to us hot and well presented! Needless to say .. our food lived up to the effort that was presented and our server was very attentive to anything we needed ! I would recommend this diner to ANYONE looking for a great place to eat and I also heard that they are open 24 hours a day!! This is by far my favorite place for Breakfast. My friends and I always hit this Diner when we come up to go Mining for Herkimer Diamonds up at Diamond Acres. The service is great and everyone is always friendly. A lot of locals go there so it makes me feel like home. The food is always great and you can't beat the price. Went on a Friday night before the bars let out. Food was great and portions are HUGE. Total bill for three was under $30 including tip. It's an old place and looks a little scary from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. Clean but worn. . . As any great diner should be. There are seriously six tables in the whole place, so I'm sure it can get crowded. My only complaint is that there seems to be one waitress for the whole joint, so when it does get busy the service can be a little slow.
