So chains are a hit, some a miss and for food this location is definitely a miss. First no complaints about the staff, the hostess was super friendly and happy and our waiter took good care of us. The restaurant manager was quick to remove our meal charge and went as far to comp our drinks with nothing but an apology. Food.....our fries were cold and my burger was missing add ons. The explanation was they were working with a new chef who was in training. My response to that is, no excuse for cold food and apparently nobody is double checking the food being put out. Stop for a drink maybe but take a chance with a meal. read more

The food is great and one time a worker there brought gifts for the children and they loved them! They were very kind and are usually very thoughtful in the time they put into the food. It was a very clear way of navigation but I would check where the bathrooms where every now and then. The only thing not great about it is that they sometimes forget to give you something and they are not very accessible with stairs inside but a few ramps and railings. read more

We stopped into Applebee's expecting a quick casual dinner. Instead, we accidentally signed up for a patience endurance test. First, we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Not great, but manageable. Then it took another 15 minutes before we even met our waiter. Drinks? Those took another 10 minutes to arrive. One of us ordered one of the specialty drinks that was supposed to come with a temporary tattoo (apparently part of a promotion), but unfortunately they were out of the tattoo -- which felt like a pretty fitting metaphor for the whole evening: promising idea, missing execution. After that we waited another 30 minutes with no food in sight. At that point we decided it was time to call it. I asked for the check so we could wrap things up... and that was the exact moment our entrees AND appetizers came out together like they had just remembered we existed. We politely declined the food, left $20 for the drinks, and went to Wendy's where we were actually able to eat. always good food at any applebees but this location creates a semi-hostile environment, most of the time I go to this location, the staff are rude and short tempered, food pick up from this location is near impossible- your food will be at least 10 minuets late and you will have to wait in the middle of the walk ways like a fool while the workers push past without an "excuse me". theres little to no hospitality as the majority of the waitstaff are teenage girls or elderly women. managers too busy chatting and laughing with staff to notice dissatisfied customers. no longer accepting doordash orders from this place- i recommend you do the same if you are delivery driver- the town over has an applebees with far better quality service read more

I have just read all of the negative reviews and think that this restaurant deserves some positive feedback. I haven't been in to eat in a while because of my wife's health but we do order delivery quite often. My wife is a steak girl and is never disappointed,I prefer burgers and they are always very good, actually big enough for two meals but that seldom happens,lol. Our food always arrives promptly and hot. If we ever do have an issue they always address it, staff is great. Thanks guys! read more

As a chain restaurant, I expect taste/quality to be decent across-the-board-and it was: each dish looked and tasted amazing. But let's talk about our server, Jordy. We were a group of three, mom dad and three year old toddler. Jordy was prompt, polite, kind, patient, informative, friendly and all-around great. Drinks were replenished in a timely manner, our daughter's meal was put in first and came to us quickly- which, if you are a parent, know is very important. He was prompt and patient and made our experience great, even when I openly told him I loved his pen and was going to steal it. 10/10 service. We were on a trip to New York. It was getting late and we were tired so we wanted a place to have a nice meal and head to our hotel for the night. On this trip I decided to eat healthier which included no meats. The menu selection was huge but there were only a handful of foods to choose from. Choices were salmon or fish and chips as far as non meat items unless we wanted a salad or soup. Three of us ordered the salmon entree which included spinach greens and redskin potatoes. The salmon was the only good thing on the plate. The spinach looked wilted on all 3 of our plates. The redskin potatoes were cold. We decided to eat them but left the spinach greens on the plates. For such a well known chain, we were disappointed in our choices for healthier eating individuals and vegetarians. Many other restaurants offer much better selections. I'd suggest a menu adjustment for patrons who are trying to choose healthier diets. Dessert was delicious. Brownie and ice cream. A great choice to satisfy a sweet tooth and a much better ending to a so-so dinner. The waitress was nice and attentive but we walked out a bit disappointed from the slim selection and wilted spinach and cold potatoes. read more

Well.... I decided I wanted an adult beverage from Applebee's on my way home on 7/23/23. So I placed an online order, said it would be ready at 9:06pm. Went in to get my drinks and sandwich, first was told that they were waiting for the French fries to be done. Ok fine, so as the bar tender was bringing over my drinks she spilled them and had to remake them. Also she said that there were way to many people there and walked out of the restaurant to smoke a cigarette and she also went to the parking lot and took a shot of something and threw up in the parking lot. Again my food was supposed to be ready at 9:06pm, I didn't receive anything until 9:40pm. The manager and the to-go person were apologetic and the manager did take some money off the bill. By the time I got to my car I checked my fries and sandwich, which was cold. But I was not about to go back into the establishment. But definitely highly disappointed with everything that occurred especially after working a 12 hour shift at work. Will probably never go back to the one in Johnstown, NY. read more

It's a pretty standard apple bees, located in a strip mall shopping center parking lot. They're cheap and clean and while they're way better kept than the Applebee's you'd find in more urban areas, this is still Applebees. read more

When Applebee's first came to the Johnstown area, it was sadly exciting. It was something new and actually in our county and the food was not too bad. It felt almost like leaving Fulton County by walking in the doors. Now it seems that after a short period of time of being in Fulton County, Applebee's has lost its magic. The food is so so, if you can ever get your steak cooked right, let me know. Even if you know the waitstaff, you might not get your order the way you wanted it. They get really confused if you go there on your birthday: Me- "It is my birthday, I would like the triple chocolate meltdown." Bill the waiter- "But that is not the free birthday dessert." I will say that I have not had a problem with the food. It is pretty much like every other Applebees. They finally do have something other than broccoli for a vegetable, which brings it from a 2-star to a 3-star. The only issue is service. On several occasions I have had great service, but most of the time, I get stuck with people who could care less that you ran out of something to drink 10 minutes ago or never come by to see if things are Ok. The drive-up take-out experience I had was great, though! I called and had the food ready in 10 minutes. As soon as I pulled up, they came right out with my dinner. Honestly I have never had a worse meal I my entire life as I did the other night. There were 6 of us... our bill came to a little over $120 AFTER an entire meal was taken off the bill... as I ordered the quesedilla burger. No PINK... I even told the waitress "Kayla S." No Pink AT ALL.. stressed burnt. And it came out RARE. I do not eat pink beef. Period. So I didn't even take a bite she offered to take it off the bill or remake it. I said no just take it off.... she was extremely rude the entire visit. My son 7 Years old wanted a grilled cheese sandwich. O asked if they could accommodate to his request, as I have multiple other trips here, she tell me no that I would have to order a regular sandwich and they would have to charge me the price kf a regular adult sandwich and take off everything but the cheese... I said fine whatever ss that is what my child wanted. So she vrjngs it out. It is cold. And not a single side. For $12 he got a cold 2 slices of bread and a slice of cheese that he didn't eat because it was COLD! My sister, who was with us as part of our party of six, ordered a couple of the half price appetizers, and an entree for herself and husband who was also a part of our six top.... they received 2 of their apps, and then their meals all came out about 3 minutes apart, and their quesedilla was missing. She asked about it when the waitress came over asking if we needed boxes, pushing us out the door, and my sister asked about the quesedilla... the waitress checked what we sent in as an order in her book, basically accusing her of lying about placing that during ordering, saw she was wring and asked if she wanted it to go,where my sister agreed. So qe got it in a box ready to go... which is whatever, as my sister agreed basically because she wasn't haven haven option and it was getting quite late... it looked awful, and we were charged FUL PRICE, which we were told it was a part of the half price apps, but because the waitress screwed up and didn't put it in before the time was up for the half price apps, we paid full price. So for a six top table we paid a little over $120 and even left a few dollar tip. I wasn't going to leave a dime, my sister left a few dollars against her better judgment, but we will NOT be returning... ABSOLUTE RIDICULOUSNESS. There are quite a few things that I have to say about Apple Bee's so I will list them. Good- 550 calorie dinners are yummy, I recommend the island shrimp and rice dish. The prices are reasonable. They have yummy Lemonade. The wait staff have always been more than pleasant. Bad- Do not go on a night when they have karaoke. Dear God! Your ears will die a little. They always mess up at least one thing when you get the take away food. The atmosphere is tacky (just my opinion). read more

We have been to two different applebees and the difference is like night and day. The one in Glenville NY no complaints, but the one Johnstown ny was very laxed on mask wearing, my husband even asked the hostess why allowed the customer ahead of us in without a mask and got a blank stare and no response from her. Most of the time the bartender was not wearing her mask a few times I looked at her or wearing it with her nose out! Saw a waiter pull his mask down to talk to someone he knows. When we arrived they said a 5 minute wait no problem or we could go to the crowded bar to sit, when I said to the hostess that there is not six feet between people she just shrugged. Our waitress was wearing her mask but it was only staying on her face because of her glasses. There was a dead fly squished on the window at our table and the window sill could use a good cleaning. If you're looking for a place that is local and has good food try this Applebee's. When I'm in the area I usually stop by for some good food and some lemonade. The atmosphere is sports and family oriented. The service was excellent. If you're with a group of friends there are many 2-for-1 specials. The food is hot and the drinks are cold. is it possible to give them 0 stars? our waitress wasn't wearing her mask right at all. her nose wasn't covered the entire time but when she got to a table, she would pull it down under her chin to talk to us. she was leaning down to talk at eye level and leaning over drinks to read the menu with no mask coverage. we were scared to even say anything because we didn't want spit in our food so we had our friend call to make a complaint for not only us but for everyone else she was waiting on and the manager did nothing within the hour and a half we were there. at one point we didn't see our waitress for 10 minutes, she literally disappeared so we assumed she was getting yelled at but nope, she came back with our refills that we asked for 15 minutes prior and her mask was under her chin when she walked out of the kitchen lol. we called after we left and the girl we spoke with said that this girl has been a problem for awhile now with not wearing her mask and they've had multiple complaints about her. if that's true, why is she still working there if this has been an on going problem? the rest of the staff was wearing their mask but it only takes one person. manager at the time: conrad our waitress: carly also, if you're wondering why I'd go out if I'm that worried about it, I'm personally not! My scathing Applebee's review: They asked us if a table in the bar area was okay. After we were seated, we were offered a booster seat not a high chair for a 20 lb toddler. When we got the booster, the strap didn't connect to the other side. It wasn't safe so I didn't use it. I asked for a new table as the high chairs don't reach the table and the hostess told me it wouldn't work for the server. I just shook my head and walked away. The server brought our food and never filled out drinks. The manager would have been nice to talk to, but he talked to the table at the end for 20 minutes and never asked us how we were doing. The baby ate her dinner sitting on my lap,and I ate with one hand. It was ridiculous. I left as soon as I was finished and the clueless waitress didn't even ask she came with the check and only my husband was at the table. read more

Sort of a modern Howard Johnson's but much too much hurry up and waited and WAY too noisy. Distracting TV's everywhere. Is that to keep people's minds off the middle-class food they cold have cooked at home? Classed with similar from freezer to table eaterys like Ruby Tuesday and the Recovery place.......I was there cause someone else wanted to be, otherwise I would have given my $ to a completely local diner, of which there are several around town. We have a great number of decent meals at the Johnstown Applebee's. We rarely eat in the restaurant, but frequently order Carside To Go. Quality is fairly consistent and we are not often disappointed. We do not have a lot of good take out options in the area. But, Applebee's gets the job done. read more

I'm alittle surprised and dissapointed at the comments here.Seemslike people always focus on the negative and dont weight everything out. Ok, Applebees is standard as far as restaurants go but it is a fun, safe atmosphere! The food is average though I usually pick a favorite and stick with it. The fajitas for example are pretty good. I think it depends on the night you visit - I've had good and bad service. Lucky for me, sInce I am from the area, I've learned to pick the waitress that does a better job at attending to their customers. There are different forms of entertainment that comes in throughout the week - Kareoke is what it is..but comon people - its fun. Occassionally they have a magician entertain and hes really great. Trivia night is fun too. My only qualm are the bathroom, i think its the drains - they're clean for the most part but the smell is always kinda dank like sulfur water. read more

Long hair found in potatoes and both the server AND manager insisted on excuses instead of just replacing the meal and going about their day. Very annoying. We didn't make a fuss about it and didn't care when it was found, it happens. But don't sit there and explain to me that everyone has hair. Steak was over cooked and server was having an off day.
