Been living in the area 40 years. This place has been a community staple for a long time. The owner is kind of a legend. One time when i was young he came out of the back and gave a friend of mine and me some fresh fried chicken. It was delicious! Little touches like that customers will never forget for years in a town like this. I rarely go here anymore. It seems like they never have anything I want when i come around 10am. The maple bars are gone and it's pretty akward going into a small shop with nothing there I want. I would love to come back more often but now I only go when I am at the tire shop! read more

I detoured out this way on a Friday around 3:00pm in search of donuts after a successful whale watching trip at Moss Landing. To my disappointment, they were closed. Nary an employee to be seen. The Missing hole donuts are really good but over priced in my opinion. My favorite donut is the apple fritters and they run approximately $3.25. Could be higher now. The Service staff is welcoming. I enjoyed the fact that its previous owners were people we knew and the new owners seem to want to continue that tradition by getting to know their regulars. I rarely go there because of price. I'm selective on what my my funds spent. I'm retired and on a fixed budget, it takes nostalgia to pull me in to the shop for an apple fritter. read more

"Good" donuts and food, bagels are below average in all standards, cream cheese is always light layer and melts because of it. They need to make thicker bagels. Cake donuts are very good, good variety, glazed and chocolate is my favorite chocolate glaze out of all the local donut shops. Price per dozen in good. Coffee is good, always clutch. Workers have the least character/ no emotion, not rude but not sprite. Been going for 30 years, so I know it well. Truly a hole in the wall find of absolutely delicious pastries. The owner makes you feel welcome and is extremely proud of his donut pastries - as he should be. Such a cute, nice little shop! We just got done eating tacos next door and wanting to try something here. The man gave us blueberry and chocolate muffins for sample! That was such a nice gesture ! They were also super delicious We ordered a bagel(seasame/toasted) OMG! Soo GOOD! The bagel was fresh, plenty of cream cheese and the way it was toasted was - perfect! Our group stopped by for lunch at Deliciosos Tacos. When we stepped out, we got a huge whiff of pastry goodness. Found out they close early on Saturday, but Dan Dan The Donut Man opened his doors and didn't turn us away. He gave us a box of donuts, some spinach muffins, and bags of bagels out of kindness. They used to deliver to our family business. Always had a good experience and customers really enjoyed their products. Now I stop in from time to time passing through castroville. This morning I was met with friendly staff. They had no more cream filled chocolate bars but the lady (maybe owner?) offered to add cream to one of the bars. Amazing!! I saw they have gotten creative with adding fun toppings. Not really my thing but I'm sure the kiddos love that stuff! Price was very good as well.
