Burnt ends a square of cornbread

You will never get bored coming into a mission barbecue because they have so much memorabilia on the walls that I don't think you can see it all in one visit. This is a very patriotic restaurant that gives homage to our service workers of police fire and military. The service is always outstanding. Whenever you go to the register and order your food, they are very accommodating and helpful with your choices. You can't be good southern barbecue and this is one of my favorite places to eat. I've not had any complaints anytime I've been here.

Stopped by with my little brother since I always hear about mission bbq. The people working were so helpful and friendly. The food is priced pretty reasonably. The portions were generous. The cornbread was moist and tasty. The bbq is pretty good too. The sweet potatoes were good, but we were less then enthused by the super seasonal baked cheesy potatoes. They were so similar to a lot of other stuff available, so they were just okay. I personally like the rustic feel of the place, and I always like to support other vets and veteran owned businesses. I will very likely be back since it is a nice, close, and relatively inexpensive barbecue restaurant.

What a great experience... Once we parked we noticed this huge black truck outside flanked with the restaurant's name, the parking lot was immaculate and paid respect to the military. We met family here for the first time to support the business, enjoy some good food and enjoy family!! After everyone decided what we wanted to try, we got in line and ordered and ordered we got our drinks and sat. The gentleman that was our server, kept our table clean, offered to top our drink and was all around helpful! "Service announcement:" For all my Yelpers that have never eaten here before. The meat is smoked, which means you will have a pink smoke ring when you cut or bite into you meat selection. They smoke the meat at a higher degree and longer than required and as a result it comes out with this beautiful pink ring. The meat is very tender and fully cooked. Just so you are aware going in. We didn't know, so now we alll are educated in smoking The food was delicious; baked beans have a little kick & we loved that. The greens have tomatoes in them, fresh and new. The peach cobble, GET IT!! Minced BBQ sandwich had enough meat on it for 2! The had minced chicken as well, brisket, yesss It is definitely a must visit. You will find so much on the menu to oooooh and awww about. I only had one thing that made me shake my head. For an establishment that caters to the military, No discounts were given to the military. "HEADS UP" However, you can join the VIP club that's free, so you can earn with every purchase when you come back. See photo for info Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend this location to everyone!!! 2 5 stars for cleanliness, friendly staff, kind, location, great food with many option

Yes, it's chain barbecue but it's still good. I like the "mission" of Mission BBQ - they fund veterans organizations including the Wounded Warrior program. And on top of that, the barbecue is actually really good. Step up to the counter, order and pay. A few minutes later, your name is called out and hopefully by then you've put your drinks together and found your table. Today's lunch was good. I had a half rack of ribs with cole slaw. They were meaty and cooked perfectly. I tried them with each of their sauces and the Kansas City one was the best. The cole slaw was crispy and not wet. I had one bite of the corn bread (keto diet!) and it is moist. Overall, a good experience and I would return to Mission again. [Review 18088 overall - 1369 in Virginia - 1610 of 2022.]

Born in Kansas and lived in Texas half my life, so BBQ is a big deal! Lol I was so impressed with this location. Food was amazing and service was perfection with a smile and great follow up after I got my food. Location is really clean and it's a great spot. This has been refreshing from the other bbq places I have tried here in Virginia. Great job Mission BBQ

I was quickly greeted and seated... and I noticed they offered a buffet for $12.99, which I find rare to have buffets at BBQ joints, so I decided to take a look at what they were offering and ultimately I chose it. After looking at it, I will say the food looked very "southern style" which isn't very appetizing to look at, but if made right, will taste great. So, I started with a chicken thigh, their chopped pork, and a couple of hush puppies. Those hush puppies were some of the best I've had in a very long time - AMAZING! The chopped pork was smokey and so tasty - I ended up going back for more of this! The chicken was moist, tender, and tasty. I really liked this first portion so much, I went back to try their slaw and a lot more pork, as well as some more of those hush puppies. I have to say - this place is offering a nice deal for this buffet... so, go try it! I'm not able to comment of their other BBQ or smoked meat offerings, as I didn't try anything else. And generally, I'm not fond of NC style BBQ, which this type of chopped pork resembled, but I will say, I was very impressed. The service was very friendly and "down home style" too... They even had some nice police-friendly things on display, which is something I truly appreciate about true, sincere, decent folk! I'd definitely return!

We got a pepperoni pizza, loaded tater tots, mild lemon pepper wings, a beef patty with pepperoni and cheese, and garlic bread bites. They estimated that the order would take 15-20 minutes to make and when we arrived 17 minutes later they told me they needed five more minutes. They were nice enough to bring it out to the car once it was ready. So we wanted pizza and I think that was the best item that we had. The pizza was piping hot with plenty of cheesy goodness. The sauce was slight sweet and the ratio of sauce to cheese was good. The crust was a good thickness and it was light and slightly chewy. Everything else sort of missed the mark. The wings were ok but not very crispy. The stuffed tater tots tasted like a loaded baked potato, which was great but they also weren't crisp on the outside, which was what I was expecting. The garlic bread bites tasted stale. They were overly chewy and the garlic parmesan topping was inconsistently covering them. The beef patty looked like a frozen patty from the grocery store that had been sliced open with pepperoni and cheese stuffed inside. It looked pretty pitiful and wasn't worth $2 extra for the pepperoni and cheese. I would come here again, but next time, I would only get pizza.

Like his namesake, Pepe Lepew, that tantalizing smell from the smokers hit me nearly a block down the street. From the little history on the menu, that was one of the reason's LePough started his barbeque stand when he was stationed at Fort Lee- there were a number of restaurants that called themselves barbeque but didn't have smokers working right outside. They either barbequed their items off location or didn't do "true barbeque". Very casual ramshackle joint, but it could easily fit large groups as I imagine them to have on the weekends. Knew I had to go to a graduation dinner, so I just ordered 3 bones of pork ribs and a container of collard greens. The ribs smelled so good I had to try one right away! Succulent, moist, and falling off the bone! Best ribs I've had in awhile! Total for my snack- $10, very reasonable. LePough's specializes in the Carolina mustard barbeque sauce, but I believe you can ask for a tomato-based one instead. You don't need much, the barbeque is pretty flavorful by itself.
