Pulled pork sandwich with slaw, Mac n cheese, and sweet potatoes

Stopped by with my little brother since I always hear about mission bbq. The people working were so helpful and friendly. The food is priced pretty reasonably. The portions were generous. The cornbread was moist and tasty. The bbq is pretty good too. The sweet potatoes were good, but we were less then enthused by the super seasonal baked cheesy potatoes. They were so similar to a lot of other stuff available, so they were just okay. I personally like the rustic feel of the place, and I always like to support other vets and veteran owned businesses. I will very likely be back since it is a nice, close, and relatively inexpensive barbecue restaurant.

What a great experience... Once we parked we noticed this huge black truck outside flanked with the restaurant's name, the parking lot was immaculate and paid respect to the military. We met family here for the first time to support the business, enjoy some good food and enjoy family!! After everyone decided what we wanted to try, we got in line and ordered and ordered we got our drinks and sat. The gentleman that was our server, kept our table clean, offered to top our drink and was all around helpful! "Service announcement:" For all my Yelpers that have never eaten here before. The meat is smoked, which means you will have a pink smoke ring when you cut or bite into you meat selection. They smoke the meat at a higher degree and longer than required and as a result it comes out with this beautiful pink ring. The meat is very tender and fully cooked. Just so you are aware going in. We didn't know, so now we alll are educated in smoking The food was delicious; baked beans have a little kick & we loved that. The greens have tomatoes in them, fresh and new. The peach cobble, GET IT!! Minced BBQ sandwich had enough meat on it for 2! The had minced chicken as well, brisket, yesss It is definitely a must visit. You will find so much on the menu to oooooh and awww about. I only had one thing that made me shake my head. For an establishment that caters to the military, No discounts were given to the military. "HEADS UP" However, you can join the VIP club that's free, so you can earn with every purchase when you come back. See photo for info Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend this location to everyone!!! 2 5 stars for cleanliness, friendly staff, kind, location, great food with many option

Yes, it's chain barbecue but it's still good. I like the "mission" of Mission BBQ - they fund veterans organizations including the Wounded Warrior program. And on top of that, the barbecue is actually really good. Step up to the counter, order and pay. A few minutes later, your name is called out and hopefully by then you've put your drinks together and found your table. Today's lunch was good. I had a half rack of ribs with cole slaw. They were meaty and cooked perfectly. I tried them with each of their sauces and the Kansas City one was the best. The cole slaw was crispy and not wet. I had one bite of the corn bread (keto diet!) and it is moist. Overall, a good experience and I would return to Mission again. [Review 18088 overall - 1369 in Virginia - 1610 of 2022.]

The bar has a nostalgic look and feel, with really tall sliding doors right in front of it. Service was quite fast, considering they had a big event in their outdoor area that day. Now, about the food... it was good, but I felt the brisket portion was small. I ordered the two-meat combo with brisket and sausage. The sausage was excellent, and the portion was what I expected. I only received two slices of brisket, which were very tender and flavorful--just wish I had more. The cornbread was on the sweeter side but complemented the meal well. The mac and cheese was okay but bland; salt and pepper made a huge difference. I did have an issue with the BBQ sauces. In my opinion, they are served in the wrong bottles. They use inverted squeeze bottles, which require a good amount of pressure to get the sauce out. This works fine for the thicker, sweet BBQ sauce but is terrible for the Carolina-style vinegar-based sauce. Yep, all over the front of my shirt, lol. Aside from that small issue, it was a good experience.

Disappointing service from a rude server at a place we've long enjoyed…read moreWe've been loyal customers here for quite some time, visiting at least twice a month, usually on Friday or Saturday nights when we enjoy the live music. Unfortunately, our last two visits have been marred by the same new server who was consistently rude and dismissive. On our most recent visit, we waited over 10 minutes before she approached our table. My husband ordered a meal (he loves the BBQ), but I cannot eat the smoked food due to stomach issues. I simply ordered a rum and coke with lime. She responded with "Pepsi?" and later repeated back only "Pepsi" when confirming the order, completely ignoring the rum portion even after I emphasized it. When my husband requested sangria -- something the bartender has happily made for us on previous Friday/Saturday visits -- she insisted they don't serve it and that he must have had it on a Sunday. We never visit on Sundays. Later in the evening, we moved closer to the fire pit because it was cool outside. She brought our water over and checked on us a couple of times. We told her we were fine. Toward the end of the night, my husband went to the bar to order another drink (as we've done before when the server isn't readily available). When it came time to close out our tab, the server arrived with the manager (Nolan) in tow. His presence felt awkward and accusatory -- as if we were about to skip out on the bill or posed some kind of problem. When we expressed confusion, he said he was just there to "warm his hands." As longtime, regular customers, we found the overall treatment disrespectful and off-putting. We tried speaking with a manager afterward to share our experience, but it didn't seem to go anywhere. We genuinely wanted to continue supporting this spot for the music and atmosphere, but after two poor experiences in a row with this server and the strange handling at close-out, we will not be returning. There are plenty of other options nearby.

The parking was packed on a weekday around 1PM and when I went inside, they were really busy, but there was plenty of seating at the bar, so I chose that. My server was great! Very friendly and helpful with the menu. She said one of her favs for lunch was their smoked meatloaf, so I chose that. I got it with a side of mac & cheese. It came out pretty quickly and looked and smelled really good. It tasted great! I love a good smoked meatloaf and this one definitely fit the bill! The mac & cheese was decent. The mashed potatoes and gravy that the meatloaf was sitting on were also really good. I have to say, I wasn't too impressed with their spicier BBQ sauce, it didn't seem spicy to me, almost tasted just like the regular BBQ sauce (wonder if someone filled the bottle with the wrong stuff?), but their mustard based sauce was excellent and I used it primarily. Overall, a great visit, I'd definitely return and would recommend stopping in! The other nice thing is they're right on Rt60, so I didn't have to get back on that horrible 64 when done, I took 60 back to 295, which is less stressful than 64 - so it was a win win!!

If you want two slices of brisket (and based on past experience, you don't), it will cost you usurious $8.99. The ribs and the chicken remain the same as last time. Mediocre. But shocking for a BBQ restaurant, you are limited to one small McNuggets-sized container of BBQ sauce. Additional ones are $1.29. This is an embarrassing level of chiseling, especially since the fries are nearly inedible without them. Even with the sauce, they are served cold. The chocolate cupcake I had for dessert was large, pretty, and impressive to look at, but when eaten, it underwhelmed with little flavor or moistness. The bottom line is that the current management at Busch Gardens has decided that, since you are trapped at the park, there is no need to make any effort to make the food service actually something guests look forward to. It is the same cynicism about the park guests that makes parking more expensive than my admission costs.
