Honestly, if you look at some of my last reviews of BBQ joints, you'd think this one is going to be a stinker. NOPE. Aside from a very boring, cafeteria feel, this place is EPIC. Our waitress was utterly adorable and did an excellent job considering she NEVER STOPPED. From there we had some of the best BBQ ANYWHERE. The brisket was super tender, the ribs were fall off the bone, beans rocked, goood coleslaw - everything was killer. We ordered an extra side of mashed (that was super buttery goodness too) but couldn't get to it because everything else was to die for. And, yes... the cornbread muffins are hot, tasty, and all-you-can-eat-free. We had em for dessert! LOL Ambiance is the only thing lacking. WILL BE BACK. read more

We have been eating at Rocco's for years. They had to close the original location and move to a new spot. Bad news first: there is zero visual appeal. The old location was homey & old-fashioned looking. This is like a big open square room without any cohesive decor. It can't decide if it wants to look modern or like a sports bar, and it just looks unfinished. The good news! Food was consistently even better than at the old location. Ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and fried shrimp were all excellent. Free corn muffins were great. Hushpuppies were very good, as well as the sides: fries, mac & cheese, beans, & mashed potatoes. Sweet tea was perfect. BBQ sauce is good. Great servers. We were pleasantly surprised. A better meal than we expected. Maybe they'll eventually spruce up the decor for an even more enjoyable overall dining experience. If not, the food is still worth coming for. read more

To start, the entrance to the restaurant is awkward. The lot near the door where you have to enter was full so we had to park on the other side. We had to walk all the way around passing two doors where the entrance is blocked. Finally we get in and there was a customer in front of us who had an issue and there was only the hostess/buser helping him. Our server was good and food was served promptly. The food however was terrible. I got the brisket, pulled pork and chicken platter. The chicken was decent. The pulled pork was 50% fat and had an extremely smoky flavor. The brisket was not edible. It was very fatty and tough which is surprising considering it's slow cooked. The food actually lacked seasoning instead depending on the smoke flavor alone. My husband got ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Neither of us could eat the brisket. My husband felt bad for our server having to work there so he left extra on the tip. A little while after we got back to our resort he got sick and was up half the night in the bathroom. Avoid at all costs. Went for lunch today at Rocco's the atmosphere... well there is none. It's just a big open space with a lot of tables so there's no ambience to it. The food... one of our dishes was the queso Philly cheesesteak. It's huge and it's excellent. The side fried potatoes were OK ..wish they were crispier . The second dish we got was the cod sandwich. It was pretty good. The tartar sauce is excellent, but again the sliced fried potatoes could've been crispy. Service... though our waitress is very nice. It was very slow and there wasn't a whole lot of people in the restaurant at the time but the reason for the three stars is because we got the bill they charged us for the free refill that we had on our iced tea and that took away her tip But we're still thinking about coming back one more time. read more

Rocco's was giving classic American family dinner. We sat at the bar on a Sunday evening to catch some Sunday night football. We were able to sit right infront of the big screen tv. The service from the bar tender was top notch from start to finish. They have a good amount of beer on tap. Had to go with some VBCo beers since we were in Williamsburg. They have an extensive menu with a lot of options. Plenty of different apps, salads, BBQ platters, sandwiches and burgers. I went with a pulled pork sandwich that came with fries and added a side salad. The salad was super fresh, all of the ingredients were nice and crispy. The 30thth of July we ordered dinner, from Rocco's, located at 207 By Pass Rd, to be delivered to our home. Time passed as we waited. They finally called us. My Wife took the call. She was told that when the Driver arrived, send her beck with the two meals. She was told the order given was sent to the wrong address. The Wife relayed the message to the Driver, she apologized and left. Today about three in the afternoon, Wife called Rocco's. and requested the same as she had ordered yesterday, since they failed. The answer was" I can't deliver it, but you will have to come and pick it up". She accepted. She told me it wasn't ready when she arrived. There was no apology or compensation for their error. The order was not suitable, for a dog. Neither of us could eat it. It was cold and my rib's were hard lumps of meat, as was the remaining items. Enclose are pictures of our meal. Food: Good 1/2 smoked chicken. The bbq sauce I had with it was good but the chicken was moist and flavorful so did t even need it! Enjoyed the mashed potatoes, fries and corn on the cob as my side. Ordered a full rack of ribs , mashed potato's , coleslaw and a brisket sandwich on Gluten Free bun . Ribs were little charred at the thin end ( normal ) had good flavor and were better when I added extra BBQ sauce . Mashed potatoes were so smooth and just to die for . Coleslaw was not bad , definitely could have had more . Brisket sandwich was very well rounded with the amount of meat and bun combination , very tasty sandwich. The GF bun reminded me of the Udi's bun (may have been ) soft and good Service was the lacking part and it was not busy . Friendly service but not always attentive. As I was sitting at my table, I watched as other wait staff went to their tables numerous times to offer refills and other needs. My waitress did not. You get what you pay for here. Except for the corn bread- they didn't charge for a second plate of those warm carbs. A full rack of St. Louis ribs for thirty bucks ain't bad, but I wouldn't say it was the best either. The skin was a bit tough, but the seasoning was good. Their pulled pork sandwich was okay as well. Had to add more bbq sauce. The vegetable of the day was cooked cabbage and carrots which was delicious. If you like stouts, I highly recommend the Virginia oatmeal stout. read more

We were in the areas for vacation and craved some BBQ. We saw the restaurant is family owned and stopped by on a Friday night, place was packed! We ordered 2 orders of Rocco's Combo 2 with ribs, chicken, and brisket; each with sides of fries, coleslaw, and beans. We also ordered an appetizer of fried Mac and cheese. I cannot explain how good everything was! The ribs were so well done that when you took a bite you could taste the smoke wood, it was delicious! The chicken was juicy and also had the great smoky taste. Their house BBQ sauce was also on point, the perfect amount of sweet and not overwhelming. Everything from the complementary corn bread to the sweet tea was delicious. Without a doubt we will comeback whenever we are back in the area. We ate here on a recent trip to Williamsburg and stopped in due to its proximity to the Williamsburg visitors center. It was before the dinner rush so we were seated quickly and our waitress was friendly and fast. I ordered the combo 2. I got a 1/3 rack of smoke ribs, 5 large slices of brisket that was so tender, and a chicken quarter. All of the meats were smoked and flavorful. I also got my choice of 2 sides. I chose the smoked beans with pork in them and the potato salad. When we were seated the waitress brought us some corn muffins. The atmosphere was pretty laid back on our arrival but it was starting to get busy and louder as we were leaving. $23 for all that meat and 2 sides you can't beat that deal. The service is usually quick, we received our meals within 10 minutes of ordering. Bathrooms and restaurant are clean. They have a large parking lot and plenty of indoor seating. I'm not sure why there are so many positive reviews on Rocco's. Based on what I was seeing, I thought we'd give them a try. Came in on a weeknight around 8:15 p.m., and they were on a wait. We had to wait around 20 mins for a table due to a large group taking up half of the dining room. I really enjoy bbq from many different regions of the country and wasn't sure of Rocco's style of BBQ? It lacked flavor and identity. Brisket was smoked but lacked flavor. The ribs were charred and didn't exactly exemplify tenderness as they did not fall off the bone. The bbq chicken is your typical novice backyard attempt at bbq. I really wanted to appreciate the food, but too, put it lightly it was terrible. The potato salad had too much mayo and sweet relish, and the southern cabbage was more like a dessert loaded with sugar? Our waitress was a bit slow on the service. She got our orders and they ended up coming out after another families meal that sat after us? Lots of Red Sox decor and Patriots decor here as well. There was a wrap around bar that seemed to have alot of tap to select from. I have probably overmentioned to many cons but here are a few pros of our visit. After an amazing family day at Busch Gardens, we were genuinely excited to dine at Rocco's Smokehouse Grill. The menu looked promising, and we had high hopes for a great meal to close out our evening. Unfortunately, the experience fell short--especially in terms of service. Our server, Chris P., interrupted our daughter mid-sentence while she was ordering to tend to another table, saying he needed to "get their order in." That set the tone. Once our full order was finally placed, it took 38 minutes for our meals to arrive. When five out of six plates were served, we were informed for the first time that they were out of Caesar dressing--what my daughter had originally ordered--so she had to quickly choose something else. She ended up getting her food even later. My own plate--the pulled chicken--was brought out ice cold. I let Chris know, and to his credit, he did replace it within 10 minutes. However, both the original and replacement had pulled pork mixed in, which I don't eat, and I never received the sauce I had specifically asked to be served on the side. Adding to our frustration, we noticed the server for the table next to us was attentive, prompt, and clearly prioritized his guests. He took their order after ours, but their food arrived before ours, and he checked on them several times--unlike our experience. All in all, the service was lackluster and disorganized.
