Came in for dinner I ordered the black plate special which was the smoked strip steak, baked beans and coleslaw. It come with a side of corn bread. The steak was smoked perfectly a little pink in the middle so still tender. The garlic butter on top was really good. The baked beans were tasty and the coleslaw was creamy. The cornbread was also good. I had lemonade with my dinner. The service was good always friendly. The dining area was clean.

Had a great experience while at Mission BBQ. The staff is very friendly and always offers options to make the meal better. Great spot for veterans/military/first responders. Definitely check it out for catering events as well!

Service was so friendly and they ever delivered our food to our table tonight. The place was spotless and everything was fully stocked and organized. Most importantly the food was delicious.

Had a hankering for some smoked brisket. After reviewing the reviews, decided to finally check it out. Location parking lot is always busy but able to get a close parking spot. Walked and the place is very interesting decor. When you walk up to order the bottled drinks like beer are on ice and available. Ordered 1lb Brisket, half of Yardbird, slab of baby back ribs, Kickn greens and baked beans. Brisket was juicy and tender. You could even taste smoke flavor but not seasoned as I expected. So dipped it Sauce and ate it. Half yard bird was dry. All of it! Rib tasted like the day before. Slightly tasted Baked beans and they were sweet! I could see chunks of brisket in them. My family said they were ok. Kickn Greens were flavorful. Not spicy but good. Cornbread came wrapped in foil. It was moist and really good. Not rushing back.

Moist, delicious smoked brisket with baked beans with brisket in them also!

Went back to Mission because I was craving some smoked brisket, and they had the NERVE to have an espresso rub, smoked ribeye available! The gentleman at the counter quickly got me together and I sat on the clean, cool patio and got BUSY!! SO DELICIOUS !!!

Great BBQ. Great service. I don't think I've ever met a friendly bunch of people. Lots of smiles, multiple people came up to our table to check that our food was good and to converse with us. We brought our little ones and were promptly helped with seating arrangements and coloring pages, which was so sweet. I had the brisket sandwich, corn on the cob, and kickin' collard greens. First BBQ joint where I actually truly enjoyed the collard greens. We were given free banana puddings as first time customers (and it was GOOD banana pudding) as well as some coupons for a free sandwich on our next visit. If you aren't the patriotic type, you might want to order takeout as the restaurant is overwhelmingly decorated with military paraphernalia. But don't let that stop you from enjoying the food!

There's ample parking in the area (both parking lot and street parking). I got the pulled pork, which came with 2 sides. I thought the 1 meat combo is plenty to fill you for lunch or dinner. My favorite side was the Mac and cheese. Plenty of bbq sauces to choose from too. There's small add ons/ up charges in which meat and sides you choose so keep an eye out for that! Thought the price was reasonable still though.

There is likely better barbecue in the area. Each meat varied heavily in quality, so they will be rated individually below. I ordered the Pitmaster's Platter, which included multiple samples of the meats. Meats Beef Brisket (2/5): For some reason, this brisket was extremely dry. There was no moisture between the meat fibers. When doing the brisket bend test over a finger, the brisket barely even moved. The bark had the texture of jerky. I would not recommend this meat option. Pulled Pork (3/5): The pulled pork was moist in some places and dry in others. This meat was extremely average. There were some parts of the pulled pork with a heavy smoke flavor, which I did appreciate. Pulled Chicken (2/5): This was just as dry as the brisket. There were small portions that did have some moisture, but I could not finish the dry portions. Cheddar Jalapeno Sausage (4/5): This meat was the best among the options. Incredibly juicy, heavy on the seasoning, and the cheese was oozing out of the sausage. If I were to come back, I would order this again. Ribs (2/5): Again, just as dry as the other meats. There was no pull, and the meat was tough on the outside. Sides Mac & Cheese (3/5): This macaroni and cheese was nothing special, despite other reviews raving about it. It is a standard mac and cheese with slightly soggy breadcrumbs on top. Coleslaw (5/5): Somehow, this was the best part of the meal. The coleslaw tasted extremely fresh. There was just enough sauce to coat the vegetables without taking away from their quality and crunch. The coleslaw being the best part of the meal says a lot about this establishment. I do not think I will be coming back here again.

At each table gloves, chopsticks, hand sanitizer, plastic straws, and plastic utensils were provided. Which is such a thoughtful touch. The fried chicken was SUPER juicy and tender with a cornflake fried batter covered in chosen sauces. There were so many flavor options to choose from, which made it fun to decide. The pieces were huge, so the price felt completely worth it. The servers were especially kind and patient with us as first-timers. They took the time to explain the most popular flavors and gave great recommendations, which we really appreciated. The only downside were the sides. The onion rings and fries didn't seem to have any seasoning. So, they tasted a bit plain compared to the bold, flavorful chicken. I'd definitely come back for the chicken alone. If you're craving crispy, juicy fried chicken with tons of flavor options, this is a spot worth trying!

Arkin's is a small carry-out only place that sells sandwiches, dinners, and meat by the pound. The sides are à la carte; except for the dinners. Before we even get to the food, let's talk about the staff. They are some of the sweetest and friendliest people you could ever meet! Even with the place being busy, they didn't rush us to order or to get out of the door. They chatted with us and made us feel welcome - as if we'd been going there for years! And every time we return it's like talking to old friends. It's so very refreshing in the current social climate! Now the food: 'Delicious' is too weak a word to describe it! I got the chicken sandwich, which came with slaw and jalapeño pickles. The sliced chicken breast was broasted and had a nice crispy skin. The seasoning was so good I didn't even want to put sauce on it! The slaw was awesome and I didn't detect mayo, so I was able to enjoy it. I added a side of greens, which were delicious. Not everyone can make greens.... My husband got a brisket sandwich - also with slaw and jalapeño pickles included. He got a side of potato wedges, which were broasted and seasoned to perfection. I almost regretted my greens choice .. almost.... The piece of brisket my husband let me taste was awesome - and I hate brisket; but not Arkin's! We filled our bellies that day and went back the next day to buy a dinner for my dad plus some meat by the pound for us to enjoy over the snowy weekend. Funny, they didn't seem surprised to see us back so soon! LOL. My dad enjoyed his meal too, and we gave him directions to the restaurant. Our other return visits have been equally as pleasant. The quality of the staff and food never disappoint! Very happy to have our expectations exceeded in this case. Great food, great staf

Before I even got to the food, the restaurant itself made a great first impression. The property is incredibly well maintained inside and out. There's a spacious outdoor patio for Michigan summer days, along with plenty of indoor seating ranging from communal tables for larger groups to individual booths if you're flying solo. It's a thoughtfully designed space that feels welcoming no matter why you're there. Now, let's talk about the food. I'll admit something that surprised me. I've been to Detroit probably 50 times, and I honestly can't remember ever hearing about a Detroit-style cheesesteak. Judging by the walls covered in awards and accolades, though, it's clearly something they're known for. The sandwich certainly sounds like a winner on paper: ribeye and sirloin, provolone and Swiss cheeses, roasted mushrooms and peppers, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, sweet pickled jalapeños, aioli, house-made vinaigrette, all served on a freshly baked sesame roll. I mean... what's not to love? Unfortunately, this is where my experience took a turn. The ingredients themselves are good. The flavors are there. The problem is the execution. The ratios are simply off. The freshly baked roll completely dominates the sandwich, overwhelming everything inside it. The steak gets lost between all that bread, and instead of each bite showcasing the beef, cheese, and vegetables working together, the bread becomes the star--and that's not what you want from a cheesesteak. I do want to give credit where it's due. The portions are generous, and I especially appreciated that they take the time to make their own dipping sauces for the fries. Little details like that don't go unnoticed. There are plenty of positives here, and it's easy to see why Detroit 75 Kitchen has earned such a loyal following. But as someone who takes sandwiches seriously, I think this one is technically flawed. A great sandwich is all about balance, and for me, this one never found it. I genuinely wanted to love it. This sandwich lover just couldn't get behind the way it was built.
