Barbecue is serious business in this town, and it all depends on what style you are looking for. I don't know that I have a style so much as how the meat is prepared and tastes. I wanted to check this place out since it's a reasonable distance from my home. Both times that I have been here, I have had a really good experience. For starters, their menu is great, not just a select few items. They have awesome sides, but right now I am hooked on the Macaroni and Cheese, which is amazing! I've gotten chopped brisket both times I have been here, and the portions are large and delicious. Even without me adding barbecue sauce at my table! The sauce just enhances how good the meat is. Plus, the service is really nice and they are super helpful with answering questions. I also have tried their BBQ sauces, and I liked almost all of them. The variety spans, but try all of them at least once. Trust me, their good! This place is better then a few others in the area that I have been too, and it's worth a trip to dine. Plus, seating is ample with tons of space to move about. Kitchen and serving counter area is extra large, so it's fun to watch the staff cook while you dine in. Overall, I love it here. I arrived at noon with a couple coworkers, walking into the national anthem being played over the speakers, which they do every day at the same time - really cool. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. One of them even came by and served some free "freedom fries" to us! The food is all freshly made and tasty. I ordered a 2 meat sampler - brisket and pulled pork, which comes with a piece of cornbread. I added 2 sides - Mac & cheese and green beans. The brisket can be ordered lean or moist, the latter meaning that it has some marbling in it. I chose the moist, and it was really good. It wasn't too fatty and it had great flavor. The same can be said about the pulled pork. There were 6 different barbecue sauces to choose from at all the tables. My favorite was the smoky mountain sauce, which was sweet and had a smoky flavor to it. The sides were pretty good. Mac & cheese had a firm texture and a crispy panko topping. Not the best mac I've had, but solid. The green beans tasted better than they looked. They were simmered with bacon and onions, and had a little bit of heat to them. The freedom fries I sampled were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside - very good. The cornbread was the weakest part of the meal, since it was quite dry. Went here for the first time after reading reviews. Ordered two kinds of brisket. I thought the sliced was much better that the minced. There was a piece of fat that had to be spit out. We were in town from California for a baseball tournament. We took a crew here for lunch. We let them know we had never been there before and they were so helpful & explained everything to us. Service was excellent from beginning to end. Food was fantastic. Atmosphere great especially since my husband is former military and law enforcement and they really honor both. The manager (Wyatt) even brought our group brownies & strawberry shortcakes to share which was unexpected and above & beyond. The food was amazing but the staff was 2 1/2 hours late, the appetizers for my event went out 30 mins late because the team did not arrive on time for set up. Also I requested the large tanker truck for my event, I was told it would show up when I spoke to them 1 week before. I had pictures planned with the photographer to include the truck. The staff showed up without the truck and told me it was broke down. No one from mission bbq Reached out to me prior to the event to tell me that the tank would not arrive I have tried multiple time to reach out to them and I'm just being ignored at this point. Great, friendly service. Restaurant is decorated with a variety of military and law enforcement items, they donate a portion of sales to a charity that supports such causes. I was on a food mission all of that day. I love the homemade sauces offered here. My absolute favorite is the Memphis Belle BBQ sauce. The sauce was described as sweet and smoky, and this was 100% accurate. It was a perfect balance of both sweet and smoky. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with fries. I love how this restaurant is basic, but in a good way. The sandwich was just bun and pulled chicken. I got to top it with whatever sauce(s) I desired. I definitely went with the Memphis Belle BBQ sauce. Their fries were crispy and lightly seasoned, but of course, I used the Memphis Belle BBQ sauce as a dip. The customer service here is amazing. There was a very little wait. After placing my order, it was only a 2-3 minute turnaround for my order to be up. When they called it out, they stated, order for Mr. Muhammed". I was slightly shocked at the Mr. part; restaurants, primarily coffee shops, announce order for (person's name), but they never include any title. I really wanted to like this place, they do so much for so many. The concept is awesome. And I hope the people that enjoy this place support it tenfold. My experience was mediocre. I would say most of the sides were very bland. The potatoes in my potato salad we're not cooked. The brisket tasted more like roast beef and the bark was extremely salty. The staff was very very friendly, and helpful. But when sitting down at my table, the table was sticky and not wiped off very well. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across Mission BBQ while on business in the area. I had planned on going to the Northville location which is near my home. I only had time for a takeout so I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was ready before I had a chance to put my wallet away after paying. The sandwich is good, but I did not like the Memphis Belle sauce that one of the employees recommended. I did use the sauce sparingly though since I felt that it needed something added to it. I have never been to a restaurant where I have literally been treated like family I recently lost my grandma and her wake was today Veteran's Day. It's nice you can choose which type of brisket you want: lean or fatty. The brisket was decent but nothing special. The ribs were pretty good, it was tender and wasn't dry. Half the time I order ribs somewhere, it's dry and disappointing. The sides were lackluster. The macaroni and cheese was bland and the potato salad was meh. Inside you can choose to dine and or carry out after placing your order. They have a condiment station on the other side of the drinks which is nice. They even have little containers for you to take some sauce with you if you are carrying out. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful which is always nice. So I have mixed feelings about this place because one I enjoyed the vibe in the atmosphere for sure, and I like that they help out veterans. The staff was very friendly when I walked up to place an order since I was looking at the menu for their sides. The lady start explaining the menu to me and I told her that I was vegetarian and she said oh no problem let me show you where the sides are and help you make a decision. That was super nice of her to take time out of her day to help me make a decision what I was going to eat. I will say the mac & cheese was basic. Nothing fancy about it. Nothing that stood out or told me I had to come back for it. The sweet potato mashed though was really good and I definitely enjoyed that a lot. They did give me a free apple dish which was really good. I got Arnold Palmer and it was actually pretty damn good. The staff was friendly the whole time we were there. The only reason I probably won't be coming back is the prices were a little higher than I was expecting and the parking situation around here sucked a lot. It's the same reason why I stopped.
