Decided to try Houston's Hot Chicken. Really to see whether it better replicated Nashville Hot Chicken better than the other chain with a similar menu - and a location across the street. The menus are almost the same. I ordered tenders with medium hot sauce, fries and a drink - to quench the heat. It came reasonably quick for what I assumed were custom made (very hot temperature-wise) chicken, but a lot of people before me seemed to be waiting awhile. It looked pretty much the same as the other place, with two sauces and two pickles. The fries were a little blah and could use some salt. The chicken itself seemed nearly the same. The heat didn't seem as high. My first time at the other place I needed many glasses of beverage, again with medium heat. Here the heat built and lasted after I was done with a little bit of lip burn. I'd say the sauce in the cups was the only thing better than the competition but it, too, was almost indistinguishable from the other guys. But none of it was extraordinary. Nor did it have the zip and flavor and heat that you'd get with the no kidding Prince's Hot Chicken in Nashville. Also, the drink selection, short of buying the eclectic frozen drinks is a little less than wonderful. Pretty sure the competitor has iced tea which is a better choice than soda for this. One thing I did like was the decor with lots of automotive art including a Lamborghini Miura and a Porsche 911. I'm giving it a 3.4 because everything was fine, it just didn't want to make me come back. The search continues for some real Nashville flavor. read more

Placed order though Uber Eats. They had buy one get one offer and got the 2 Tender Meal for $11.99. Mild and medium spicy for each of the tender, fries and two house sauces. Order was ready within 15 minutes! Super fast so when I walked in, I was able to pick up right away. The chicken tender - absolutely amazing! Tender pieces were huge! I did not expect to get full with just two chicken tenders but as seen in the photo, these chicken tenders are huge! Even with mild/medium spicy, it is pretty spicy. Stopped by just before noon, and the place was already buzzing! Even though the young woman behind the counter was busy, she made eye contact right away and let us know she'd be with us shortly--great first impression. I ordered the Original Hot sandwich with medium spice. My colleagues got the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, the Cheesy Hot Chicken Sandwich (mild), and the Caesar Salad with Habanero Chicken Tenders. Everyone enjoyed their meals and agreed that the spice levels matched their expectations--so trust your instincts when ordering, and you won't be caught off guard. I also tried the Watermelon-Cucumber Lemonade. It tastes like a liquified Jolly Rancher--fun but a bit too sweet for me. I'd definitely come back, but I do have a few critiques. First, it's pricey. My sandwich, fries, and drink came out to just over $20. For a family visit, it could easily top $100, which feels steep for what's essentially fast-casual dining. Second, they don't offer sweet tea or even iced tea--something that would pair perfectly with hot chicken. That's a missed opportunity. Lastly, I'm not a fan of the tip prompt for counter service. They hooked me... went once during a workday and came back 2 more times within the next three weeks. Their crinkle fries are crack seasoned and have a perfect crunch on every fry, their "tenders" are more like "breasts." They have a flight of different sauces. The waffle has like a crunch of sugar in it and they still have the gall to try to give you syrup. Each lemonade is family kool-aid perfect. I've felt so much shame smashing this whole box of food... they don't have any calories posted anywhere and I know why... because if you show up you're not worried about being a gluttonous chicken eating beast for the day. The location is perfect, as soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by not 1 but 2 employees!! I didn't think that even happened anywhere outside of chick-fil a. I have been in search of Michigans Beat Hot chicken sandwich all of my life, while this didn't take over my #1 (Eureka eatery in Monroe, MI) it did any rocket to my #2. If they fix the bun issue (discussed below) it would be a close contender. Fries: crisp and well seasoned. Very delicious. I am not a fry person but I ate all of these Sandwich: I ordered the spicy habanero, it was not hot hot but a great flavor. (I like spice so my not hot hot might burn your mouth). It had very little coleslaw however that is how I like it. I ordered the cheesy chicken sandwich and the cheese was an amazing touch! The bun seemed a little small which made it very messy to eat! Very such a great cut of chicken I would prefer a different bun however it was so so good! 100% recommend. I wasn't going to leave a review. But the manager texted me following up with a survey I took. I am giving two stars because the flavor of my chicken sandwich was okay. And the lemonade was so good. I would go back for that. But overall not likely. Shall I? Yesterday 04/05/25 we tried this place. I have been watching and waiting for it to open. Only to be disappointed. 1. I got the mild spice chicken sandwich and one no spice tender meal for $15.99 and a strawberry hibiscus lemonade ($3.99). I got the coleslaw on the side to avoid sogginess. And a side of house sauce for dipping. Like I said the lemonade was so good. But that's about it. The fries were cold and stale. Like barely edible. The chicken sandwich had decent flavor but it was so soggy that it fell apart. I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. Not cool. The tender wasn't battered enough and it was completely soggy too. The bottom of the chicken tender was bald. And what batter there was tasted undercooked. 2. My poor husband got loaded fries for $13.99. Totally disappointed. He had the same cold stale fries. He said the only saving grace was the juices getting the fries soggy. Same gross chicken with mild heat. 3. We got two chicken kids meals and again same chicken and same fries. It comes with 5 nuggets, fries and a juice box. ($6.99 each so $13.98). The nuggets were missing breading and soggy. My kids wouldn't eat them. They were so bland and again the batter tasted undercooked. It literally tasted like raw wet flour. The fries were stale and cold. I wanted to note there was what appeared to be a child running the fryer. That could explain a lot. So after I completed the survey I got a text from a Bill from Houston Hot Chicken thanking me for my feed back. Also an apology. He then goes on to offer me ONE 2 piece tender meal ($11.99). That is suppose to make up for 4 meals? I didn't even purchase a 2 piece tender meal to start with. I wasn't even going to leave a review until he sent that. It was like a spit in the face. Not cool. Daves Hot Chicken is right by there. Maybe I'll return for a lemonade. But probably not. read more

We ate in last weekend and our food was amazing! Chicken was fresh and the seasoning was spot on! We got Medium. The crinkle fries came slightly seasoned and were delicious. We would have given this place 5 stars but we got some chicken to go for our kids and ordered medium and ended up with chicken that was so spicy they couldn't eat it.
