Don't ever see Dr. Spero -- he is short tempered, egotistical, disrespectful, and misogynistic. Office is super disorganized and doesn't remember patients and their history because they split time between 2 offices. When I told Dr Spero I had a root canal based on the advice he gave me last year he became defensive and said I was lying (why would I lie about the medical advice he himself gave me? He did my filling that immediately needed a root canal, so I guess it hurt his ego since he said I should have had the procedure done with him and not an endodontist - which is the opposite of what he told me last year via text message). I have a photo of the text where he told me to see an endotontist, so he is clearly blaming me for his misremembering. The way he was talking to me was making me uncomfortable while I was in the chair, and he even closed the door so others wouldn't listen which made me more uncomfortable and uneasy around him. So as we were talking I politely said I preferred not to do any treatment today, to which he just got up and left the room with no words. As I left the office I told the receptionist that I felt weird vibes, and he came out yelling at me to get out of the office in a childish temper tantrum, saying I was the one who made HIM uncomfortable. I have never had an experience like this with a medical professional. Dr Spero's behavior today showed he doesn't seem able to control his emotions or empathize with patients, which is concerning for someone who is meant to help people. Telling a doctor you are feeling uncomfortable and want to leave is your right as a patient, and shouldn't be taken as a personal affront. As a young woman I told Dr Spero that I felt uncomfortable and asked to leave, and he the older man followed up with DARVO by turning it on me to pretend I was the offender. I only came to this place because of a GroupOn offer for teeth whitening. When I came in, they did x-rays and told me I needed all kinds of other work done. Dr. Spero made it sound really urgent. I ended up doing all the work on the next 2-3 visits. And even then, he said I needed even more done. But the bill was so high that I could barely keep up with the work that was done. After my last visit, my teeth were still in pain. I called a couple weeks later to ask if that was normal, and they said yes. I called another 2 weeks later bc the teeth were still sensitive to flossing and they had no explanation for it. I was upset... thousands of dollars for you to create pain WHERE THERE WASN'T pain before!?!? I didn't post back then because I didn't want to feel like I got ripped off. Came in to get a teeth cleaning, when I was explaining to the doctor why I wanted to do minimal X-RAYS (because of recent uptick in other medical exams and anxiety about over radiation) he came at me with verbal aggression and told me "I can't curse" and to "get out" because I said the other dentist I went to was "always trying to sell me on %^*#" He wouldn't let me get up from the seat until I asked to please move out of my way. This review is for Dr. Koutchek, Krystal and April. Let me start off by saying that I am absolutely terrified of the dentist. I'm sure most people are too but I was so traumatized by an experience I had when I was a teenager/early 20's that I haven't been back to see a dentist in a while. Needless to say my teeth were bad. I mean REALLY bad. I needed a re-treat on a root canal, a couple crowns, fillings and a deep cleaning. So as you can imagine I was not only scared but incredibly embarrassed to see a dentist after so long. So after putting off seeing a dentist for so long and part of one tooth missing, which was so painful I had no choice but to go in. I mean, orajel and Tylenol weren't even taking the edge off anymore. I knew it was time to bite the bullet and find a new dentist. When I walked in I was so nervous. I hadn't been to a dentist in so long I didn't know what to expect. When I was called into the office I told April how bad my teeth were and not to judge me before I even opened my mouth. But she assured me that I was going to be okay and that I would be cared for like family. Since I hadn't seen a dentist in so long I hadn't even thought about dental insurance and coverage. But April was so helpful talking to me about all the different insurances and also told me that if I don't have insurance that the doctor would offer me insurance prices until I could get dental insurance!!! What a relief! I was then seated by the sweetest assistant, Krystal! She then took some xrays of my mouth and talked with me for a short while until Dr. Koutchek came in. And let me say, Dr. Koutchek is the most gentle and kind dentist I've ever met!!! She made me feel so at ease about my current oral situation. She told me that my tooth that was hurting needed a root canal and then a crown but that it was smart of me to come in before it got worse! So we worked out a game plan to get all my work done before the end of next year and allowed me to pay for my crown half that day and half during the crown delivery in 2 weeks!!! My root canal was so smooth and pain free I was surprised she even did anything!!! I couldn't feel a thing!!! What a blessing! And Krystal was so kind and supportive to me! I can't stress how caring and wonderful this office is and how professional they are. All I can say is that the staff here are absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! I went 10 days in pain (on antibiotics, and pain medication) with no relief. He answered my call after hours and scheduled to see me at 8:30am the following morning. His bedside manor and caring about my predicament was so reassuring. He explained everything he was going to do and while he was working on me he talked me all the way through it. Dr Koutcheck, My name is Raul Torres, my daughter Olivia and I were patients of yours, just recently my daughter visited your office this past Monday. I am writing you this email to explain the issue I had with your office and why we will no longer be returning. On Monday, my ex-wife took my daughter into your office for a routine check-up because I was unable to. After the visit, your office staff misinformed my ex-wife and told her she had to pay for past services that were related to my daughter. She then messaged me afterwards to demand I reimburse her for what she had paid. I called your office to get an explanation and to request they return the funds to my ex wife and that I would handle the balance as I am the one who signed the payment contract with your office and not her. I was told by your office staff they they were unable to do that, they also informed me that they would speak to you and have you call me, which you didn't. I explained to them that this is extremely important and that my ex-wife needs to not be charged and I needed it fixed urgently. This morning I called your office again, and was told you were busy til 8pm with some type of emergency which is why you couldn't call me on Monday but Tuesday passed and still no call. When I came to your office, I told you that the last dentist office we left treated us poorly and we were looking for a office with a more warm family oriented feeling, which is what I thought your office was. However, this is the second time your office has let me down in that department. The first being late last year when I was told all my fillings were to be covered by insurance, only to be told afterwards that insurance would not cover one of the fillings and I would have to pay out of pocket. I found this to be shady even though your office said it was a mistake and not done on purpose. I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt but after this past issue, I can no longer continue taking my daughter or myself to your office. Not only is their office spotless ( I'm a bit of a clean freak) but they're SO gentle. I was always terrified of cleanings and xrays, because past dentists would be so abrasive but Dr. Koutchek and her assistant were both so gentle. It was such a pleasant experience. I went in with a Groupon and even at that discounted rate, it just ended up being a waste of money and even worse, time. This place does not understand the cost of customer acquisitions. They try to hit you with the added charges within minutes of your first visit to make up for their lost revenue from the Groupon (which the reception even mentioned on the phone). They wanted to charge me $35 to email me my own x-rays, they gave me the shortest cleaning of my life (under 10 mins), and then tried to get me to book multiple unnecessary follow up appointments for hundreds of dollars. read more

TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS. We had a dental emergency and they were open on a weekend and "took" our insurance. Conveniently, everything was "down" and they couldn't process our insurance, so took payment as security, then promised a refund when they were reimbursed by insurance. No refund came. When we finally called with EOB in hand, all of a sudden it was us who didn't provide our insurance, every time we called it took several days to "review" our chart, and services we told we wouldn't be billed for we're billed to our insurance (and paid) and they won't refund. They've been paid twice over on the service that we weren't supposed to be billed for at all. So if you have an emergency, you can go here, be treated like the docs best friend, then ripped off. Horrible experience. Absolutely atrocious customer service meets the most half-assed cleaning--by far the worst I've ever had. The dentist was an hour and a half late for my appt, and then was rushed and rough and painful with my teeth & my husband's. You can still see all the plaque on my husband's teeth, after the "cleaning". The dentist spent all of 3 minutes on the entire cleaning. I actually had to get my money back, it was THAT bad. Do NOT waste your time/$ on this place. I'm reporting them to BBB. To reply to this dentist's excuse below, as to why we had to wait over an hour, for each us, when emergency patients come in (which they will) is FIX YOUR SCHEDULE. Find times when you will be on-time to our patients appts, regardless of how you have to shuffle things around and eat late. We got HORRID, extremely light cleaning that took about 120 sec in the hair. Not kidding. They know who the groupons are (and STILL tried to charge my insurance!) and treat them like the doormat. By hubbies cleaning was equally as fast, and we both badly needed a cleaning, so she just did a sh*tty job, plain and simple. You're not going to have retention of patients in your practice if you work this way. People will simply find a BETTER DENTIST. They're everywhere. Can I just talk about how amazing this place is! I was suffering from an impacted wisdom tooth for about a month. I have crappy insurance and everyone I called had a ridiculous waitlist, but not mission dental. My sister called and asked if they could see me because I was in so much pain, and they told her to bring me in as soon as possible. Safe to say two hours after that phone call, I no longer had to worry about that stupid tooth. Their service is impeccable!! Clean, kind, and patient! The dentist who handled my nightmare sang the whole time she worked on me which I found very relaxing. When I was all done she gave me proper instructions for care and sent me on my way. We were so lucky to find Mission dental! My husband came down with massive teeth pain last Saturday. By Sunday he could barely function he was in so much pain. After Googling for dental emergencies I called and Dr. Spero picked right up and told me to send him over. Turns out the Hubs was in really bad shape and ended up needing 4 extractions.
