Stopping by the Carlsbad Premium Outlets is a fun outing for anyone looking to shop a nice set of outlet stores in Carlsbad where the weather is typically lovely outside. There are plenty of stores along with some food options. There are some name brand stores and some stores not tied to name brands. There are deals regularly, especially around times like Black Friday and before and after any holiday. I often take a book and read it outside in a comfortable chair (hopefully out of the sun) while waiting for her to shop. When we went with her parents once, I sat with my father-in-law outside and we eventually stopped by Starbucks for a beverage. There are more than 85 stores and restaurants at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. My wife's favorite is the Ann Taylor Factory Store. There is also a Coach Outlet, Gap Factory, Michael Kors Outlet, and so much more. Some of the restaurant options include a Blaze Pizza, Starbucks (of course!), Jersey Mike's, Ruby's Diner, Rubio's Coastal Grill, Wetzel's Pretzels, Tea Monks, Panda Express, Oasis Tacos, Mot'to Japanese Grill, and Haagen Dazs. There are other restaurants a short drive from the Outlets if more sit-down restaurants are desired. There are plenty of sales, discounts, and deals. Each day, different sales are listed on their website at https://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/carlsbad/deals. There are also military, teacher, and student discounts (all published on their website). Be prepared to share IDs accordingly when taking advantage of the discounts. There is also a free Elite Rewards membership, which you can find out more about at https://plus.simon.com. Each store has its own hours though the general hours at 10 AM to 7 PM from Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 8 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 11 AM to 7 PM on Sunday. Other amenities of the Carlsbad Premium Outlets include accessible parking, ATMs, a baby changing station, bike racks, drinking fountains, EV charging stations, family restrooms, nursing mother's lounge, public restrooms. strollers, wheelchairs, and so much more. You can read more about the Carlsbad Premium Outlets at https://www.premiumoutlets.com.

4 stars The Shoppes…read moreat Carlsbad is a solid indoor mall for North County. Good mix of stores like Macy's, H&M, Vans, and Sephora, plus a nice variety of food at the courtyard. The mini Bazaar on weekends is a cool touch with local vendors and collectibles. Parking is easy and it never feels too packed compared to UTC or Fashion Valley. Movie theater and Dave & Buster's make it good for more than just shopping. Only downside is a few empty storefronts and the food court could use an upgrade. Overall it's clean, family-friendly, and convenient if you're in Carlsbad. Worth a trip if you want to avoid the big mall crowds.

It's been a few years since I've been to The Shoppes at Carlsbad. There's been a lot of changes,…read moreboth good and bad that I've noticed. First the good: amazing renovations have improved the shopping experience. New flooring; sitting areas with power outlets and comfortable chairs; very comfortable outdoor living space with modern conveniences; a PAW-sitive environment for a 4 legged friends; a very clean and well maintained modern shopping area. The restaurants are all centrally located. Lots of parking areas with easy access. The bad: a sad commentary on the shopping climate/culture with an abundance of closed and empty restaurants and stores. The online shopping experience has resulted in brick and mortar businesses to experience more and more contraction of their customer base since the pandemic of COVID-19. At the time of my visit, there were a few number of shoppers in the mall. It saddens me to see the effects of the online shopping economy. I will try to support more businesses in physical stores and retail shops. It's difficult when you compete with the low price points and convenience of next day delivery from online retailers.

When we moved here this mall had been just started and had many areas closed. Now, two years later more and more stores moved in and it developed a nice atmosphere. I like that they are offering a food court, Macy's and JcPenny. A gym is just around the corner and plenty of parking on both sides. The movie theater etc is a nice touch in that area. This mall has great potential, this Christmas 2019 they offered a corner with free characters to meet, hot coco and some local snacks for free. In addition, they have a very pretty Santa on the other side of the mall.

I, for the life of me, cannot figure out how this company got on the "top of the line" list, nationally(that's according to Clark Howard News). I just went again Monday to one closer to my house......no cart! Waited 10 minutes. And watched a lady with 5 flat, easy to carry, light-weight items run back and forth around the check-out location. You see what kind of person I become when I'm TRYING to shop at a CVS store. Well, not to worry North County residents. This is the store to head to.....please leave room for me. I still have a list. BTW to CVS: carts are being taken by the homeless, I get it. Several places have come up with a way to "nip that in the bud". Please think of something too!!!
