Dirty condo. Dishonest property manager. I was initially happy with the resolution Cindy gave to my issues with her dirty condo and didn't feel the need to leave her a bad review on Airbnb, but she decided to attack me, so here we are. My husband, friend and I rented Cindy's condo for 4 nights. My friend and I participated in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, 60 mile Walk to End Breast Cancer and the condo was along the route. Perfect. Cindy texted me at 7:30AM the morning I was due to check-in to confirm I was still coming. Weird, but OK. I confirmed. She then asked if I was there for the breast cancer walk and when I said yes, she implied that I was lying (pic of txt attached). When we arrived, we found a simple condo with outdated furnishings. Fine. As we settled in and unpacked, we noticed a layer of dust on all the furniture, stains and splatters on the walls, cabinets, baseboards. Every dish and glass we went to use was dirty. The floor in shower in the primary bathroom was stained. Some pillows on the bed were stained and not only smelled moldy, but had visible mold on them.The floor was so dirty that our feet were black from walking in the condo. Gross. Cindy texted to ask how check-in was and I told her that the condo was in need of a deep clean. Everything was a little grimy/sticky. She apologized, saying that she had a broken foot and didn't inspect the condo before we arrived and offered to have someone come clean it. Between my husband cooking and taking care of us while we were walking 8 hours each day and our dogs being with us, I declined her offer to have someone spend 4 or 5 hours cleaning the place during our brief trip. My husband rewashed towels and blankets, dishes, and cleaned both the bathrooms again to ensure that my friend and I were in a clean comfortable environment. At the end of our stay, I texted some pictures Cindy to let her know that she really needs to talk to her cleaners and do much needed maintenance around the condo because after all the fees it costs $500/night to stay there and it is not worth it for the price. She apologized again and said she appreciated the feedback. She then issued a $500 refund. An amount that she decided was fair based on our experience at the condo, and that I appreciated, though I did not explicitly ask for money back. I thanked her and we continued on our way home. I decided not to leave an Airbnb review because I didn't want to lie and say it was clean and great when it wasn't, nor did I want to hurt her future business since she offered a reasonable solution to the issue and I accepted. There was nothing more to do. I come to find out that she left ME a horrible review on Airbnb and basically accused me of scamming her. She charges a $185 cleaning fee and then asks you to strip all the beds, collect the towels, do the dishes and take out the trash. Since we had to spend hours cleaning the place for it to be comfortable for our stay to begin with, we didn't follow the checkout procedures. Mind you, garbage was collected from around the house and placed in the bin, dishes were in the dishwasher or in the sink, dirty towels were in piles on the floor, so it isn't as though we left the house in complete chaos and mess. We recently stayed in their "Paradise Retreat" rental. It's a furnished 3rd floor condo. To equate it to "luxury" is a bit of a stretch as I've stayed in Airbnb's with the same (or better) amenities. What you're paying for is the convenience of the being right on the beach and the view of the oceanfront location -- which is definitely worth it. I was not the person who booked the place but heard good things about the point of contact and their quick responses. Yay for parking but it is super tight if you're in an SUV or wider vehicle - like you can barely open the car door to get out. The garages also had good beach supplies like boogie boards, beach chairs and some sports equipment. There were some of the interior features were odd to me: 1.) No locks on bathroom and bedroom doors except the master. I probably wouldn't bring this up if it weren't for the fact that we had small, hyper and slightly unruly children staying with us that liked to burst into rooms at inconvenient times like when you're naked. 2.) Beautiful, intricate model ship, placed on a glass shelf in a high traffic area above a shoe bench. Bench meaning to sit on. But try that here and you will knock into the shelf and probably lose your $$$$ deposit when the shelf and ship come down. I found that my family would stand in that area to take off their shoes and sometimes grab onto that shelf for stability. 3.) Comfy leather furniture, yes. But there isn't A/C in the unit and it gets hot especially being on the top floor so you stick to the leather. Each leather piece had a plush blanket on it. I used it to sit on so I wouldn't stick. 4.) As above there isn't A/C. I get it. It would be super expensive to run since the idea is to have windows and doors open and enjoy. But the unit doesn't get great airflow. There are ceiling fans in the bedrooms and master bath but if you are with a large group and get stuck on one of the foam mattresses or are in the other bathroom, you're sweating your butt off. They do provide two bigger fans that push the warm air around. 5. The flies. I guess it's normal to have flies by the beach. But we were not prepared for the amount that greeted us in the unit when we arrived. There wasn't any food around so I wasn't sure why they were there or how they got in. The unit has a multitude of fly swatters for your use. Although I am critical, it was a really good experience. Edit: There's a #6 to the oddities -- The hardware (cabinet and drawer handles). They all match, yay. But they also stick out and the way that they are designed, do hook onto loose clothing if you are leaning into them like in the bathroom. Potentially hazardous to kids' heads & eyes and apparently adult legs, ouch. read more

Cindy was wonderful. She helped me find a place within my budget and called the first day to make sure things were going well. The house we stayed at had a patio overlooking Mission Bay - we loved every minute sitting there in the sun. We had a small issue with the floors, but Cindy said she would take care of that. I will definitely use Mission Vacation again. :) read more

Amazing and wonderful doesn't even begin to describe the outstanding service we received from Cindy before, during and after our stay in Mission Beach. She is always quick to respond to any questions or concerns you may have. Check-in/out instructions were super easy and Cindy made sure to follow-up to make sure we were good with everything. During our week stay as a family of 5, if something came up, I just texted or called Cindy and she responded within minutes, if not seconds. Need more wash cloths or towels, no problem, Cindy will ride her bike over and drop them off. Seriously, if you need anything do not hesitate to contact her during your stay, she is a pleasure and will always be there for you. She really treated us like family. I've never had that type of high-end service from a property management company in the many years we have used VRBO, home away, or any other smaller property management companies. If you are a property owner, HIRE her! If you are a vacationer, RENT from her! She will exceed your expectations as she did ours! Thank you Cindy! We used Mission:Vacation to book our 1 week stay down at Mission Beach. Cindy and her team went above and beyond to accomodate us. Directions, instructions, and correspondence prior to our arrival were timely and effective. The place we rented was outstanding. The pictures of the place make the place look nice, but it was actually better in person! The place was spotless when we walked in. It was stocked with everyhting listed on the website. We had an issue with the parking (someone parked in our spot) and Cindy personally came down to take care of it within 15 minutes of making the call on a Sunday! Seriously, who does that on a Sunday? We have nothing but good things to say about Mission:Vacation and the place we stayed in. We've already told friends that are planning on going down there that this is the way to go. Our daughter loves Sea World (we only went there 5 out of the 7 days...) so I'm sure we'll be back next year and won't even consider calling anyone else. What a wonderful experience we had renting from Mission:Vacation in Mission Beach over the Labor Day weekend. This was our first time renting a condo as we would normally stay at a resort when we go on a vacation. But after this vacation we definitely will be renting properties in the future. I stayed at a great family friendly condo on the Bay side. Cindy was helpful in making sure I got the dates I needed. She was also very easy to get a hold of when we were at the condo. They had everything ready and available you could think off. All you need to bring is your swimwear and your family!! The condo had everything you could want I didn't even have to buy beach toys for my kids the condo had some available. Plus for my toddler they had all the kid channels for her to enjoy during her rest time. I am definitely going back!! read more
