Heard this place has been around for I think 40-50 years, and when you taste the food you understand how and why. I ordered takeout so I didn't get to enjoy the interior setting, but it the food was ready quick and the price is pretty amazing so service is grade A. Personal pizza? Spectacular! The salad? I ordered a Mr. Jims special that is supposed to have 4 kinds of meat ham ,canadian bacon, cooked salami, and Italian salami. All mine came with was one thin slice of ham and a lot of lettuce. Usually it is a great sub this one was not.I normally would rate Mr. Jims a 5. I think I will give Jersey Mikes a try. read more

I hadn't been here in years as I moved and haven't really been back. Finally made it back and I'm happy that I did. As it always has been, it was clean inside and the atmosphere is comfortable. The staff, even after many years is still as friendly as always. Best part, their cheese sticks and pizza remains the same. My first and last time to try Mr Jim's. I'm surprised at how thin the sandwich is both vertical and horizontal. The flavor is OK. It says it has lettuce, but you can hardly find it. Mister Jim's is truly a staple of Great Bridge! They are located on Battlefield right across from the Great Bridge shopping center. First of all, they have such a huge, broad menu with endless options! They have pizza, burgers, subs, cookies, salads, Philly cheesesteaks, gyros, wings. They have it all. You can't go wrong! I have eaten here so many times and I try to get something new each time, but I do have my favorites. I love the chicken salad sandwich. I get it toasted and add bacon. I love my sandwiches with a bag of sea salt potato chips. Another classic is the southwest egg rolls. These are sooo delicious and very popular. The owner, Lamar, is super nice. I just don't understand how folks think their sandwiches are all that. I started a job with the city recently and have been ordering delivery since doing so, no sandwiches just what I call bar food (southwest egg rolls and lumpia mostly-items made elsewhere and cooked on request) but I was in the mood for something else so I gave them another shot and ordered a pizza steak. Now, imagine my disappointment when I found my pizza steak was 'tender steak' as noted on their menu but steak ums. I have no issues with steak ums but if that's what you're selling, then tell me. Not lead me on with the promise of real, tender steak only to be given steak ums. I feel as if I've been catfished. Shame on y'all. I took the steak ums off and threw it out. If that was what I wanted I could have made that myself. read more

Used to be my go-to for subs but this ish right here.... Had to have them remake it and this what I got. Still trying to figure out where the meat is. You'd think with 15 people appearing to be making orders everything would be ok but it just seems they are just plain rushing and not focusing on quality. You call in to order still have to get a buzzer. If you're busy, say you're busy and don't have people waiting for crap like this! Had the large Cajun chicken....really dry sandwich needed more mayo or something... also toasted too much like way too crispy. Large home cut fries!!!!!! Wow!!!! The best and shared for 2 people, like really good fries. Also had a meatball sandwich... average to above average. High time I update my review here. This review actually covers 2 experiences. One was a dine-in and the other was delivery. One of the luxury's of living in Great Bridge is that Mister Jim's has delivery. It was a cold winter evening back in January when I discovered I was within their delivery zone. After verifying on their website I setup an account, logged in and made the order. I've always had subs here, and was ordering one then, however I came across a deal for a second item and added a pizza to the list. I really didn't know what to expect with their pizza but I figured WTH, I can use it for lunch during the week. About 45 minutes later my deliver arrived and not only did I have an incredible 'Bridge Club' delivered but a rocking pizza that filled the whole box. I had the club sub for dinner and one corner slice of the pepperoni pizza. It was delicious and was so much more than I was expecting. The pizza ended up being lunch for the following two days. The second dine-in experience here was literally the weekend before all the current stay at home started. I was already in the shopping center picking up my starter plants for the garden and decided to get some lunch while I was out. I had a lunch combo with my favorite 'Bridge Club' some chips and iced tea. Ohhhhh.. So good. It's such a wonderful toasted sandwich that really hits the spot. Mister Jim's has been around forever. They opened in 1972, which makes them 48 years old. I've been going since the mid 80's when I was in high school. In those days driving out to Great Bridge from Va Beach seemed like a road trip unto itself. I digress. This place has staying power, and they make epic food. We placed a take out order of 9 subs. We ended up with 6 inches too much of the subs but they were all correct! It was confusing at first, but we got it figured out. I can only speak to the tastiness of my pastrami and rye sub. The rye bread was soft and the Swiss cheese was milky. The portion size was okay. I'm used to pastrami and rye sandwiches to be piled with meat. This one wasn't. The sub asks if you want sweet or hot peppers. I asked for sweet, but I could only find a couple peppers on the whole thing. The ones on it were very tasty. From the rest of my group I heard things like, "This bread is soft" and "there's so many toppings I don't know how to eat this." Be careful with the online ordering. The sandwiches here are VERY good! Worth the trip. The French fries were also great while hot. Tasty with malt vinegar on them. And they have the awesome kind of nugget ice, if I remember correctly. Fresh cookies, too! The seating atmosphere is not to my taste, though. Kinda like a Waffle House without the table service. They have outdoor seating that I'm sure is nice when the weather permits. Amazing service, extremely friendly and patient staff, with all the selections and substitutions. A friend suggested this place, service was outstanding! Now the sandwiches I got were great and ok! The pastrami on rye was great, I throughly enjoyed it and I'm sure I'll get it again! We have ordered from here twice in the last week as we move into our house and get settled. The first time we tried various sandwiches and the second time we did pizza. Both were delicious! The only fault I found was they were a bit slow. The 15 minutes they told us for our pick up ended up being 50 the first time. Not just regular cold cut subs, but they also do Phille Cheesesteak, burgers, salads, pizzas, gyros and chicken wings. It was a little overwhelming at first, so when my eye cause the "Bridge Club" that's what I went with. The gal behind the counter asked if I wanted everything and I told her to make it the usual way. Subs are pretty good, but don't do curbside pick-up. They suck! I called and they hung up on three times. Finally had to go inside because they must've forgotten about me. I'm not even sure the female that answered the phone even heard me on the third call. SMH EDIT: No, she didn't hear me. When I walked in and said I'm here for my curbside pickup. I attempted to order three pizzas through their website logged into my profile and when I checked out and put my debit card information in I was charged $59.95 for three pizzas but my order did not go through. I called the store to check if I was missing some thing and they looked it up and there was no order. Now I understand a hold on my account means they don't have the money, but when talking to the manager they seemed very unconcerned. So basically if I want to order pizza from them I will need to pay an additional $60 to get my order and then wait 3 to 5 days for the other $60 to become available in my account.
