It's absolutely authentic, but with an elevated menu that really delivers. We got the chip trio, but you almost wouldn't need it since they have a full salsa bar, including endless pico de gallo and sour cream. But the chips are thick and crunchy and delicious. I tried the taco de birria de chivo (goat) and was truly blown away. The meat is so tender and seasoned so well, you can taste the allspice in it, which is perfect for goat, and so unique to Mexican food. I also tried the al Pastor and the Carne Asada, both were also to die for. I love how they make the taco have a little bottom and give it three sides, to help us fit all the generous portion that they give. The all-day happy hour margarita for $9 certainly doesn't hurt. The second one arrives before you've had time to argue yourself out of it. I ordered the enchiladas with carne asada and their house mole. If you're expecting one of those intensely complex moles with enough ingredients to fill a pantry, this isn't that. Adelitas' version is comforting, approachable, and deeply homey. It tastes less like a culinary experiment and more like something your abuela has been making for decades. The carne asada was tender, the rice and beans were exactly what they should be, and every bite reminded me why comfort food never goes out of style. Before leaving, I made the smartest decision of the evening. Tres leches to go. I devoured it later at home while Netflix asked if I was still watching.
