I Love the wheel cakes here! I came and had the buy 4 get 1 free deal. I tried the taro, black sesame, earl grey milk tea wheel pies. It took around 15 minutes for it to be made. So it was quite fresh and smelt so delicious! I also liked that the filling was not too sweet. The shop Was inside shared with two other business like machi machi. Lovely space..

I can't say I was super familiar with Taiwanese wheel pies before arriving at Mister Wheel, but I've enjoyed similar Asian desserts before, so I was excited to check the place out. The shop is located within a mini food court on Yonge Street and wasn't too busy when we showed up. We decided to try a couple of their wheels, the Red Bean and the Custard, and were told the wait would be about 15 minutes. These things are totally worth the wait. The filling in each was just right in terms of sweetness and flavor, while the outside was cooked perfectly and enhanced the whole thing considerably. Consider me a Taiwanese wheel pie fan for life now.

Mister Wheel located inside the Upper East Food Club along Yonge St. near Church Ave in Willowdale services up Taiwanese wheel pies. Originally from Taiwan, this small shop just opened in Toronto where we happened to stumble upon their grand opening weekend. They also have a location in Singapore but I believe that this is their first ever North American location. The kiosk shares a space with other businesses in the food hall where they are located in the back right corner. The menu only has wheel pies, which are made to order, as well as drinks. For the wheel pies, they have unique flavours like custard, red bean, taro, matcha w/ mochi, black sesame, chocolate, earl grey, Thai milk tea, pistachio, and even bacon with potato. The wheel pies are made on a special iron device where the flavours are inside the cake like pie. Since it was their grand opening weekend, they didn't have any drinks available...but if you followed them on social media you can get a free custard wheel pie. This promotion is available from Aug 2 to Aug 14 where 200 free pies are available each day. We ordered at the cashier and she was friendly enough to let us know of the promotion to get another free pie. We purchased 2 pies (and got a 3rd one for free) where it was about a 10 min wait as the pies were made fresh in front of our eyes. There were some tables we could sit and wait at. Once our order was ready staff called out my number and the pies were still hot and fresh in their packaging. I had the pistachio wheel pie which was delicious! The cake like pie was nice and warm while the inside was filled with a pistachio like custard filling which was gooey. My husband mentioned that the custard one he had was delicious as well. Overall, great new addition to the neighbourhood for Taiwanese wheel pies. A perfect snack or dessert (not sweet at all!). Would be curious to try their drinks once they're available!

Came for dessert after lunch. The stall was located inside a mini food court with multiple other stalls and the surrounding was quite cute and quiet. They sell Taiwanese filled pancakes with different flavors/fillings. We ended up getting the black sesame and Thai milk tea filling. They were made to order so we had to wait and they came out piping fresh! The pancakes were stamped with the Toronto skyline and I thought they looked incredible! Now onto the pancakes themselves. Let's just say they definitely look better than they tasted lol. I liked the black sesame flavor more because it had a very strong black sesame flavor and wasn't too sweet. But I am bias since black sesame is my favorite Asian dessert flavor. The Thai milk tea filling was a little too sweet for my liking. But then again Thai milk tea is supposed to be sweet. Unfortunately, the outer shell was a little "chewy" which was disappointing. They were pretty generous with the filling though. Overall: Decent dessert store and definitely enjoyed it. But at 4.49$ each, I thought it was quite pricey and I don't think it's worth it. It was a good one time experience but I probably won't be coming back.

This is the first Mister Wheel in Toronto. Famous in Taiwan they specialize in what could be best described as filled 'pancakes' that are shaped like wheels. Fillings come in a variety of options and when you order it will take up to 15 minutes for the cakes to be prepared, longer if they are busy. Pay attention to the filling description as most contain nuts of some form. The space is located in two storefronts that has been turned into a food court. On our visit, Mister Wheel was the busiest. You can order at the cash or online via a barcode. We chose matcha with mochi and chocolate. The verdict? It was okay. The chocolate filling was reminiscent of pudding and the mochi was a little scarce but the matcha had good flavour. Filling was very generous though, when you bite into it the filling oozes out. This makes a nice little treat if you are in the mood for something sweet but don't want anything big or heavy. I liked the way the cakes were stamped with the Toronto skyline. I'm curious enough to want to try other flavours.

Tried this Taiwanese dessert for the first time and I enjoyed it. It was loaded with filling and not too sweet, but I wish some of the flavours were stronger. Staff were friendly as well. However, it does take time for them to be made since they make it fresh to order.

I got the matcha mango bingsu which came out to just over $20 after tax and tip. What was most disappointing was how little of a matcha taste I got from it. The base was a very sweet milky taste, and I really wish they infused the matcha directly into the shave ice itself. The matcha was just drizzled on top with matcha powder, along with some whipped cream which only diluted the matcha taste further. On the other hand, I will say they are generous with the mango topping, which were very fresh and perfectly ripe. They gave one single mochi cube which I feel they should either give more of or none at all. The environment itself is very noisy. Not sure what it is about the walls but they do not absorb sound well at all. Voices echo and bounce off the walls like crazy, it sounds like everyone is yelling and talking over eachother in there. That aside, the space and decor has a cute vibe and the self-serve water/coffee bar is a nice added touch. If I ever come back here, it would either be out of convenience or to try their drinks/a different dessert. Unfortunately the bingsu falls short in my opinion especially for the price tag. The base should resemble more of the flavour rather than rely on toppings.

Coconut Pandan Cheesecake & Black Sesame Tart -- Worth a Try!…read more Just tried Uncle Tetsu's two newest flavors and honestly both were a solid experience! The Coconut Pandan Cheesecake really stood out to me -- the pandan flavor is incredibly dense and rich, and the texture is great. The only thing is, since it's freshly made, it can be a little too moist by the time you get home. My tip: Bake it for a bit and it firms up nicely. Also, huge props on the green packaging -- it's clear they put real thought into matching the box to each flavor. It makes every new release feel special, which I really appreciate as someone who loves having something new to look forward to! The Black Sesame Tart is a must if you're a tart lover -- the tart shell itself is chef's kiss as always. The black sesame filling is super rich and indulgent, though I personally found it a touch too sweet for my taste. Definitely a treat-yourself moment, so go in knowing that! Overall, great seasonal picks from Uncle Tetsu. If you're curious, go try them before they're gone -- limited flavors don't last long!

The bakery is take out only where it is small. I've been to this particular location of Uncle Tetsu to purchase their tarts and cheesecake several times. Service is always attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Their original cheesecake is great along with their original cheese tart, matcha cheese tart, and more recently their hojicha cheese tart. The space is small but it is not difficult to decide what to order as there are only a limited amount of items on the menu. Overall, a great place to pick up a small snack or dessert to enjoy at home. Definitely will be returning to pick up more desserts in the future!

CAFE N ONE . …read more Cafe n One is probably one of my favourite "new" restaurants that I tried recently. Located on the 2nd floor at Yonge and Finch, Cafe n One is a bright, cute cafe serving Japanese inspired brunch items, drinks, pastas and desserts. . . Classic Breakfast 4/5 Chicken Karaage 3/5 Croffles 5/5 Green Tea Soufflé Pancake 4.3/5 Latte 4.8/5 . . We arrived around 10 minutes after open and there were already a handful of people seated. The drinks and food came out pretty quickly except the soufflé pancakes which takes 25minutes to prepare. My favourite was the croffle. For $10, you get 2 big pieces of croffle which tastes great with either whipped cream or syrup. The chicken karaage was kind of dry on its own, but dipping it in the syrup and eating it with the croffle made it better. If you want a hearty breakfast, the classic breakfast is a solid choice. The soufflé pancake was fluffy and delicious, well worth the wait. I was amazed by the detailed latte art as well. Highly recommend this cafe!

We happened to drop by the day of the massive Iranian protest, and were surprised by how much business it had, and also how soundproof the windows were. - Classic breakfast: lots of food! Pork belly was especially nice -- rich as crispy. - Karaage honey hot cake: Quite a bit of food too, hot fried chicken can't go wrong! - Ice Americano - Iced houjicha latte: didn't really get much houjicha flavour. Prices were reasonable for brunch in the area. The service was fast and efficient, and with a smile. There were a lot of customers that day, and we felt the indoor noise level was a bit loud to have a comfortable conversation. Still... We'd love to come back and try more of the menu.

I genuinely think this place has the most underrated & DELICIOUS gelato in the GTA. This is also coming from someone who has tried the most popular spots downtown & elsewhere. The texture is smooth, creamy, not overly sweet, and made in-house with high quality ingredients you can taste. You can sample max 2 flavors & also buy their products pre-portioned to take home or give as a gift. In my opinion they've got the best TRUE pistachio gelato of you're into that. Some notable flavors I've tried that I highly recommend are yogurt, yuzu cheesecake, blueberry, and asian pear. I also love that they give you a little waffle cone shard if you order a cup.
