A small hidden gem in Port Chester! My husband, son and I stopped by this lovely Peruvian restaurant for a quick lunch. The service was friendly and attentive, and our food came out quickly. I ordered the pollo saltado, which was flavorful and perfectly cooked, with tender chicken and a delicious savory sauce. It came with white rice, fries at the bottom, sautéed with onions and tomatoes. My husband had the lomo saltado, a classic Peruvian dish, and it was just as impressive. Tender strips of beef that was also sautéed with onions and tomatoes, served with rice and fries. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. It's always nice to find a cozy spot that delivers both great food and warm service. Definitely a little gem in Port Chester that we'd happily visit again! I want to try their red sangria next time. If you don't like your fries soaked with the lomo or pollo juice, ask for them on the side. Papas a la huancaina is a great appetizer because of the delicious cheesey sauce. The best lomo saltado in the area. I've eaten a lot of lomo but Misti's hands down has the best in the area. The fresh made green sauce daily, and a good mix of everything is the proper way to eat this meal. I've had other items on the menu as well, they are all delicious. My company use to order every time there was an upper management meeting. We would order 15 to 20 takeout dishes. The food was always hot and good. Steak was seasoned well. When I went to pick up twice I only waited maybe five mins for them to start bringing it out to me. From what I saw the inside was okay. It wasn't busy yet. Misti's cafe has been a staple of Port Chester NY for many years. When I'm craving Lomo saltado this is the place you must try. Very authentic Peruvian comfort food! Just be mindful a lot of the waiters don't speak much English so it can be a challenge ordering your food so just have patience. I didn't realize till most recently they serve alcohol and have a bar in the back of the restaurant. It tends to get busy during dinner time but they have plenty of tables so you shouldn't have too wait. Absolutely disappointed! ! My family and I have ordered the rotisserie chicken, lomo saltado and pescado saltado. They are salty, dry, and over cooked! The Pescado saltado is not saucy at all.They add too many French fries and tomatoes, YOU only get a couple chunks of salty over breaded fish this is sad ! The rotisserie chicken is dry although the skin is delicious. The lomo saltado: steak is dried out and flavorless. The give u a little bit of meat more potatoes and tomatoes. Such a rip off! By far the worst food experience I have ever had. My family and I have lived near the area for many years and have dined at Misti restaurant since I was a little girl. My father and I decided to try the Cafe and were just extremely disappointed. First off the Papa a la Huancaina was really cold, extremely and I mean EXTREMELY salty and didn't taste like how it should traditionally. We also ordered the Lomo saltado. Years ago it was haven in my mouth but after this take out it taste like hell. Again EXTREMELY salty, dry as hell, lacked pizzazz. It didn't even have tomatoes! Even the rice was too salty. The only reason we ordered there was because it was the only Peruvian restaurant open. I'm not going to lie, my mother and I stopped going a couple years because of how disgusting the food had become. I don't know if the changed owners or chefs but not good at all. Alas, in spite of the tremendous popularity of the restaurant and the authenticity of the food, I am not quite a fan. To be perfectly honest, I don't know if I really enjoyed this variety of Peruvian food (which is quite diverse, and includes fusion Asian cuisine, given the Japanese influences that come from an ethnically Japanese Peruvian population). My wife and I have been eating at Misti for years. We don't live nearby, so it's a trip. We both enjoy the food. It's tasty and relatively inexpensive. One night recently, my wife picked up 2 dishes for dinner from Misti on her way home from work. When we opened the containers, we saw that they had packed the wrong order. When we returned to Misti 2 weeks later, we enjoyed dinner as usual. While talking, we remembered what happened with the wrong order. We mentioned it to the manager just so he would know about the mistake. To my surprise, the young manager did NOT apologize for the mistake. He only responded "Yes, it happens"! He never asked the wait staff what we had while there. He didn't offer anything in compensation for the inconvenience of receiving the WRONG ORDER. This is Simply POOR MANAGEMENT. While the food is good and the staff is Great, the MANAGER HAS A LOT TO LEARN! For the RECORD, we WILL NOT RETURN!!! AND WE WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE AGAIN!!! read more

I hosted a baby shower there on 11/15/14. It was my first experience there and it was wonderful! The hostess was very polite and the waiter, named David, who was assigned to my table was very professional and accurate with every order. The food was excellent and the prices could fit anyone's budget. Now I know where to order food when I don't want to cook! It's worth the trip. read more
