The small French feeling cafe offers a nice menu including pastries, breakfast items and dinners. The yogurt parfait was tasty served with fresh fruit. The bacon and egg platter was somewhat bland but the thick tender bacon saved it. Our server was attentive but seemed not to know the menu thoroughly. The coffee was very good and robust but the general vibe seems cramped. The croque Monsieur had an off taste to it. Definitely glad we tried but perhaps could have made better selections. read more

another stop at cafe deux and this restaurant continues to amaze me!! i got a latte and pumpkin bread. the latte was super smooth, not too bitter, and had a wonderful coffee flavor. they also put the cutest latte art on top! like literally perfect. the pumpkin bread was sooo moist yet also fluffy and had the perfect amount of spice. i was shocked to find out it was gluten free. as a food scientist, i know first hand how hard it is to make a baked good gluten free and moist, but this restaurant does it perfectly. so, on my way out i grabbed some gf cupcakes for a picnic later today! so excited to share them with my friends! service was also kind and attentive read more

Cafe Deux was such a lovely place for a date night and looks like a great place for breakfast. As it was less busy day after Valentine's Day but I would recommend making a reservation as it is limited seating. On to the food, the menu had plenty of gluten free options so my partner had endless decisions to choose from. We started off with the hummus with gluten free sourdough bread and you could tell all of it was freshly made. For the entree, we had Spinach Basil Pesto Rigatoni and the Deux Wagyu burger mind you eating the burger it melted each bite I took. The winner of the night the French Onion Mac and Cheese like whaaaaa, that is on top of my list of best Mac and cheese I ever had. Honorable mention has to go the side salad because the dressing or vinaigrette was delightful and would get it again. Ultimately I don't think you could go wrong in any of the food choices. This place is silly. The food is okay, kinda plain. not good, not bad, just fine. The service was absolutely terrible. Between the disinterest and being annoyed almost when we had questions for them. The prices are insane - like a casual little diner/cafe..no need for an egg on a croissant to be $17...heaven forbid you want a cobb salad..I think it was $35 The vibe is like that show on Apple TV "your friends and neighbors" which is an incredible show. Like a table of neatly coiffed wall street dudes having lunch before jetting off to the hamptons..polo shirt tucked in to khakis (with a pleat, a la 1985...kinda respect it to be honest!). This place needs to update its hours. I MEAN SERIOUSLY. Their website says opening is 7:30 AM, so my wife and I went there. But no. The door signage says 8 AM. OK, so we waited. My partner and I got a weekday brunch here, seemingly one of the only places open before noon on a weekday for brunch in this part of the area. There were only a few other parties in the restaurant. It's quite lovely inside. You do feel transported to France, ever so briefly. I enjoyed my omelette, though I wish the tarragon had been mixed in more. It was super fluffy. The French sisters who opened Café Deux on Halstead Ave. in Harrison give their layback space French flair and elegance. The mini white dog bone basketweave floor tiles, add to the charm. But best of all, is the lighting that's both warm and hugs you in. I'd read about Deux in my Westchester Magazine about a year ago- so I waited for the right time to sit and lounge for breakfast. The quality did not disappoint. Instantly, their 'Soft Scrambled Eggs' with Gruyère, Tarragon and Chives from their menu called me. What I received was an omelette. Not complaining. Their omelette is golden yellow, buttery, soft, almost custardy throughout. I mean- the thing was just luxurious. Their hot cocoa is subtle and was a nice addition to my breakfast. I also ordered their Farmer's Vegetarian Quiche with Mushrooms(fresh by the way), Spinach and Gruyère to go which I ate the following afternoon. Fantastic. Except, the lines of communication crossed between my server and the kitchen and what they understood was that I wanted all my items to go. Why would I sit and get comfortable? Somehow, my server mentioned that if someone is dining in and order a to-go item, everything is packaged in to-go containers. What the ....? Unheard of. So right then and there as I sat in this delightful café, I emptied my omelette from the container and place it on my plate. Do take note though. I really don't mind returning because both my items were richly made. Plus, their version of chocolate truffles had wonderful pops of ooze in the middle. Cafe Deux needs to do a lot better. The service was decidedly mixed. I wouldn't call it horrible, more like, amateurish. The pacing and organization was all wrong. They took so long to take our drink order, that we ordered dinner at the same time. Not only is that wrong, our food actually came before our drinks! That's how long it took the make the drinks. It's wrong from a dining experience and it's wrong from an owners perspective, running a business. The cocktail needs to come BEFORE the meal is served, duh. This is both technically correct, but failing to do so also limits the opportunities to order a second drink. Aren't you trying to sell me booze?? As for the food....all I can say is MEH. The burger wasn't properly cooked at all and oddly, there are two thin patties in the burger, and each appeared to be cooked at different temperatures. Bizarre. It is, however, tiny and a local favorite so if you want to be assured a table make a reservation, especially for Sunday brunch. There's nothing you can order that is disappointing, it's more about whether you are going healthy or getting your French on. Some of our favorites are the avocado toast, soft scrambled eggs and sourdough, and the croque madame. Ambiance is straight out of Paris and the staff are attentive and helpful. I love French food but I also love Caffe Panna, so when I found out this place was serving both, naturally had to try! Since it was our first time here, we had to try the escargot and the cocktails. On our last visit, the parents were totally oblivious of their child taking the meat from the hamburger into his hands and bringing it very close to us. Three of us came here for dinner last week and loved the ambience. The food was great, but the service really tarnished what could have been a great experience...and, it was just our server - everyone else in there was lovely! We had the salmon, the burger, and the mushroom tagliatelle and were all happy with our choices. Unfortunately, I asked for a fresh bun as they slathered my burger in aioli when I had for it plain. Not a big deal but the server whips out her order pad, seeming to find out who made the mistake. She never came to check in how everything was, we had to ask for more water, didn't ask about a second glass of wine, etc. She was just totally aloof. I'd go back and give it another shot - I feel like this could be a hidden gem! Service has the power to make or break a meal...I'd love to see them get this wrinkle ironed out. read more
