Highly recommend checking out Mitai Bakery for cute and yummy bento cakes! Katie made the process very easy and was able to beautifully create the custom design I requested, which costed ~$25 via venmo. My partner was amazed, definitely a cute birthday idea. Theres various available cake and frosting flavors you can mix & match with - decided on the Chocolate cake & Vanilla frosting. The combo was good, with about +5 layers of good cake to frosting ratio. My partner was amazed, definitely a cute birthday idea or for other special occassions ~ Check them out on IG @MitaiBakery for inquiries & orders!

I absolutely love Mitai Bakery. I was looking for a cute bento box cake and this place did not disappoint. I've already ordered twice from here now and every time it has been amazing. It is also important to me that there are gluten free options, and this place has macarons and mochi muffins! The baker is quick to reply and fun to work with to get a design and flavor right. The first time I ordered a cake with my cats face on it and it was so cute!! The cakes are also not too sweet which is something I look for. They are designed well and has great texture and taste.

I will definitely be reordering from Mitai Bakery again. Communication was easy and fast and she always responded quickly to my questions. She was so accommodating and the cake I ordered for my friend was even better than I could imagine. My friend loved it so much and the smile that she had when she saw the cake was worth it!

Thank you so very much for the cake! It was exactly what I wanted and ordered. My daughter loved it. The matcha was perfect and delicious.

Custom cake! Vanilla frosting and matcha cake with custom design

I ordered a custom cake design for my friend's birthday! She loved the cake and everyone was so impressed with how it turned out!! It was cute and tasty! Ordering was so easy and it turned out exactly how I wanted it! The baker was so kind to answer all my questions and accommodating for everything! Overall, I would recommend ordering cakes here and I'll definitely be ordering again! :)

chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. Slightly dry but sweetness from frosting/icing balanced it out.

I chose the Rose-Lychee, Thai Tea, and Lemon flavors to match our event theme. While the flavor profiles were a bit on the faint/subtle side, the texture was spot on. They weren't overly sweet, had a perfectly chewy consistency, and my guests really enjoyed them. The delivery service was also seamless; they arrived at my home promptly with no issues at all. If you're looking for an affordable, elegant dessert option for a large gathering, I highly recommend them!

As macaron lovers who have traveled and tasted macarons in Paris, we had high expectations--and Racarons exceeded them all. The quality of these macarons is absolutely incredible. They are truly on par with the world-class macarons from famous Parisian patisseries like Ladurée and Pierre Hermé. The texture is spot-on, with a perfect, delicate crunch on the outside that gives way to a wonderfully chewy and flavorful center. Every single flavor we tried was a masterpiece. Racarons made my daughter's birthday a delicious and memorable event. We are officially loyal customers and will be ordering again very soon.

For starters this location is definitely a more pickup and go location. There is very limited seating and the space is also a lot smaller. But what they lack in space they make up in efficiency. I've never had an issue picking up anything here either through online orders or simply walking in to grab a cake. The staff are always on top of things. Now let's talk about the cakes. If you don't order ahead of time or reserve a cake in advance, then expect the consequences of not planning ahead. The cakes they have on display or the back may not taste the freshest. But in my particular case, I've been fortunate enough that every cake I bought from here was fresh and moist. The staff would even be kind enough to grab one from the back for me without even asking. I bring this up because for bakeries through put is very important on how fresh their products are and this location definitely goes through their inventory constantly. For mother's day they basically ran out of all their cakes so plan ahead for those big occasions. What I also appreciate is they are always able to do a special message for you free of cost, and I always end up tipping extra because you can rarely find this type of service at other cake shops. Because of their flexibility and availability, I will always recommend this location to family, friends and to you as well. Plan ahead and this place won't disappoint. Looking forward to continue coming back here.

Finding parking isn't difficult…read morebut might take a minute on busy days, as it shares a parking lot with the rest of a popular plaza. The store itself is easy to find as well, with a clear label outside. Walking in, it looks half-closed--their cakes are all stored in a large refrigerator, with nothing in the case on the counter. There is a sign proclaiming "takeout only" in slight disarray, and the seating is pushed to the side. That said, the service is friendly and the employees are quick to help you and show you what they have in stock for takeout. I ordered the 4" Berry Berry Light Cake for a birthday, and they were able to write a birthday message on the cake board, which I really appreciated. The cake also tasted very light and the sweetness was subtle, which I really enjoyed. The berry flavor in the sponge was a little too subtle, though. My main concern is that the cake does not fully resemble the picture they advertised online. It is missing the freeze-dried berries on top, and the berry glaze did not reach as far down the cake as was shown in the photo. Because the berry glaze is the main source of the berry flavor, this was a little disappointing. Also, the cake was not finished when I came to pick up the cake (and I was ~5 minutes late). I'm uncertain if this is for freshness or if there is another reason. Overall, I like the spot for the fresh and light cake. It's pleasantly unique compared to your standard sheet cake, and everything is rather cute. However, it may be a better idea to buy the cakes in-person to be 100% sure of what it will look like, though daily stock is definitely more limited than if you place an order online. I hope they reopen their indoor seating soon.

My family and I stopped by Marvel Cake during Mother's Day for a sweet treat on Sunday. This location is in the strip of Downtown Palo Alto and has limited parking (similar to the rest of the stores there, there is a lot of parking, and you will need to get lucky). My mom does like the Marvel Cake in their first location, so we swung by here to try this one out! Location-wise, this is a smaller shop than the original one in West San Jose with limited seating inside. I would say it's not work from home friendly however, I did see a college student next to me on her laptop so maybe I am incorrect here! The interior is nice and light, matching the elegance of the desserts. We ordered three items on the menu: the pillow cake, the bisou, and the blueberry lavender roll. Here are some thoughts: * Pillowcase cake: It may seem like this would be a fluffy cake due to the nature of its shape, but it is a gelatinous Jell-O cake with fruit jam. It was not bad, and tasted refreshing and light. I didn't know if I liked it at first, but ultimately I did come back for seconds and thirds, so this is approved. * Blueberry lavender roll cake: This was not at all what we were expecting. I did not taste any lavender, nor did it have a strong blueberry flavor. I think what threw our party off was the layer of gelatin that surrounded the cake. Texturally, we were not a big fan. * Bisou: This one was our favorite one. I appreciated the nutty crust in the bottom layer of the cake, while the filling was soft and bouncy. It is very sweet, however, but overall, I really enjoyed this one and feel like it would go great with a cup of coffee. What made the experience here a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 was the service we got. We weren't greeted when we came in, which, to be fair, is totally fine, maybe they were busy. However, the person helping us stared at us the whole time and did not really communicate well with us. When I tried to order the cakes for my family, they looked bothered that we were there, and I was not sure if they understood what pastries I was ordering because they did not repeat it back to us at all or confirm anything. When I did place the order, they slowly grabbed the plates and looked visually confused, which again, if they wanted to, I could have repeated it back to them. After they gathered everything, they put it in front of us and rang me up. The whole time, they did not say a word to me at all. Did not reconfirm anything, did not acknowledge we were there, did not say thank you. It was a bit strange, and I had to check with my family if it was me or if that was a really weird experience (it wasn't me).
