This was my boyfriend's first time ordering from Mitos, which he placed through DoorDash. He has a shellfish allergy, so he intentionally ordered chicken and steak. Before he began eating, I noticed shrimp in his dish and was able to stop him in time. We politely contacted the restaurant and spoke with a manager, who stated that we should have specified "no shrimp." My boyfriend explained that he ordered chicken and steak specifically because of his allergy and was unaware that he needed to additionally request no shrimp, as shrimp was not part of his order. I then asked the manager if, despite the order being placed through DoorDash, we could bring the food back to have it remade without shrimp due to the allergy, in an effort to reach a resolution. The manager responded, "There is no resolution." This experience was extremely disappointing. Nearly $100 was spent on food that my boyfriend could not safely eat, and the lack of concern or willingness to assist from management was frustrating. Due to this experience and the handling of a serious food allergy, we will not be returning or patronizing this business again. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Mito. Despite frequenting the movie theater in the area, I was not familiar with this restaurant at all. It was truly a hidden gem in plain sight. My guy and I were seated with another couple for our hibachi experience. I had the Filet Mignon & Lobster while he had Chicken. He also ordered Shrimp Tempura. The server offered us a complimentary order of Crab Rangoon as part of their Tuesday special which we accepted. The service began with Onion soup and their house salad. Once the chef came out the show began. He was very entertaining throughout the preparation of the meal. He gave us all shots of sake. The meal was fresh, flavorful and plentiful. I thought it was forgotten that we were celebrating a birthday but while I had stepped away from the table they brought out a dessert complete with a sparkler and sang Happy Birthday. I was able to enjoy my leftover food the next day and it warmed up and tasted just as good as it had the night before. We came back here for my granddaughter's 20th birthday and everything was good as usual. There were 10 of us for hibachi and our chef was fun and the food was tasty. But the main reason I had to submit another review was our server, Vlad. To say he was exceptional would be an understatement. He anticipated every need, came back at just the right times, celebrated my granddaughter's birthday with us, and just went far above and beyond what was necessary. He even tried to turn me down when I gave him an additional tip on top of the 20% they automatically add for the server. But I wouldn't take no for an answer. Where a lot of people barely scrape by in the service industry, and I will forever feel like servers are drastically underpaid for the intense work they do, it was encouraging to see a young man with such passion for his work and I hope, no I know he will go far in whatever he does if he has half that much passion for everything else. read more

I had heard a lot of good things about this place so I decided to try it. I finally went in person with my husband and it was a disaster. The server sat us at the grill and it took them 25 minutes to take our drink order and another 20 to bring us a Pepsi and a sprite. Also I ordered yakisoba noodles and it gave me the runs and I even threw up. This all happened 30 minutes after leaving. Try at your own risk tbh. This new hibachi spot is beautiful. You walk into this open, moody bar and lounge space. Stone walls with orchids on side tables line the walkway to a lighted granite hostess stand. The bar/lounge lighting is low with an intimate vibe. Large TVs are behind the long bar. Lions game was on one TV--perfect for Thursday night. The front section is split with hibachi tables in two large rooms. Open airy and not packed in like most hibachi spots I've been to. You can breathe here. Beyond the lounge are the restrooms and sushi lounge. They also have dedicated hibachi cooking tables for take out orders. It's fun to see the action from the bar area when you're not sitting at a cooking table. Parking is ample as the lot is huge. Location is easy to find right off Dequindre. This large restaurant occupies the entire south side of the building. We most recently sat at the bar and ordered sushi. The sushi chef is incredible. Has been in the business for years and knows his stuff. We ordered a variety of veggie rolls and they were delicious. Also ordered the tofu appetizer, too (yum). They also have cooked dishes, noodle plates, bento boxes at lunch. We have eaten at the hibachi tables on a prior visit and enjoyed seeing Chef Joe cook (and perform his flaming hat trick). They offer veggie and tofu menu items along with every meat and seafood option you can imagine. Truly, something for everyone. Cocktails, wine, sake and beer options are plentiful. I ordered an espresso martini (without the whipped topping). It was not too sweet and balanced. They have Wine Down Wednesdays with half off bottles (bottles under $40). I'll be back for that. Enjoyed our amazing Hibachi meal, Sushi, and delicious cocktails. The wait staff were very professional and attentive. The chefs were entertaining and engaging, which matched the overall relaxed fun vibe in the restaurant. The chefs added some fun touches to the experience, they each had their own special show after everyone's meals were served. Ours juggled some torches that were on fire... lol. They also had sake in a squirt bottle to give guests shots of sake. This place also has a full service sushi bar and a separate full service bar (sports on the tv). I am expecting, and my boyfriend and I were in the mood for hibachi. We looked for a restaurant near our home and discovered "Mito." We decided to order a hibachi combo to go. The host was very pleasant, and we waited approximately 30-40 minutes for our order, which was perfectly acceptable. Upon receiving our food, we noticed they provided only a small cup of yum yum sauce, so I had to purchase more at Kroger, which was conveniently located next to Mito. Once we arrived home and prepared to eat, we were disappointed to find that the chicken and shrimp were overcooked, and the fried rice and noodles, which cost $5, tasted burnt and unpleasant. We were unable to finish the meal. The only enjoyable items were the vegetables, onion soup, and salad. It was a waste of money, and we were disappointed that they served us burnt food. read more

Checked this place out for Happy Hour and it turned into dinner. We started with 2 and ended with 6 of us enjoying this restaurant. Great experience we had to share it. We sat at the bar and were welcomed by the bartender and the manager. Great folks. Very good food, great drinks, very nice atmosphere with added flare down to the lit drinks all the way to the Oshibori. Clean restaurant and bathrooms. Need to get back to try the Hibachi. Seated with another group we were (initially) acquainted with, we (my group) received excellent (A+) service by the staff and an amazing show by the chef that took care of of our meal. The price *may* draw you elsewhere, but I guarantee you won't have a comparable experience anywhere! The meal was so very fresh and the filet was still delicate the next day! Our service began with a salad and soup... (Fried) Onion Soup [insert chefs kiss]! The food here is incredible and the portions are insane. I literally had hibachi leftovers for three days straight! The sushi is also so good but the best part of all was the miso soup! Yelp has really let me down. Reviews and stars looked good. Sushi here is seriously disgusting. Have never had any as bad. Their cocktails all sounded odd, so I tried to get a plain gin and tonic. The waitress could not understand, showed me her ordering device, I picked a gin. I got gin on the rocks. After pointing out that it was NOT gin and tonic, Bartender came over & was going to send me tonic in a glass to add. I got club soda. Lemon slices instead of limes, which I asked for. Finally sent the whole mess back and got beer, in a bottle, so they couldn't screw it up. The crunchy roll wasn't crunchy, it tasted pasty & had breadcrumbs sprinkled on top. Flavorless. Fireball Roll was covered in a sticky sweet sauce, not eel sauce. Nigiri was ok but fish didn't seem very fresh. Awful purple-ish lighting inside, loud music. What a disappointing, awful dinner. They also add 20% tip automatically to your bill, which normally I wouldn't object to. But now I get it. Plus--Fox News on huge tv all thru dinner!! Put something on tv that won't offend anyone!! HGTV or sports. I won't watch them at home, and certainly don't want to see it all thru dinner out somewhere. We won't go back, ever, and if you want decent sushi, you won't either. I was recently able to try this place and as a vegan they were able to accommodate me without any issues for the entire meal, except dessert. They even made fried rice separately for me that did not include any butter and egg. Pretty amazing! The hibachi even if has an option for tofu and vegetables is not vegan a they use butter while cooking. It's vegetarian for those who want it. Everything I tried was very good and the portion size was huge, I had to take half home. On top of that I tried few drinks and they were good too. Staff was exceptional, very attractive, polite and professional. And we can't forget about the hibachi chef Joe who made and amazing show. So much fun! It's not just about the food, it's also about the experience. The place is huge worth so many hibachi tables you most likely won't have issue with availability. The restaurant even looks good from outside. The service was impeccable. The chefs are always loads of fun to watch and very entertaining. The other guests at our table were so nice we are even following each other on instagram now. We are feeling so pleasantly stuffed. Cocktails, wonderful saad with fresh ginger dressing, onion mushroom broth (not salty), California sushi , rice with chicken and shrimp, red blend wine, chocolate cake with strawberry garnish and a delicious pumpkin spice aperitif. We didn't realize that meant we would get no service for upwards of a half hour. Not even a water glass. Super disappointing. I also ordered a side of vegetables and chicken fried rice to go along with sushi & a cocktail. With the 20% gratuity this restaurant charges when you sit down, my bill came out to $102. Sue, our server was awesome and very attentive. However, Chef Sam was very stingy with the fried rice portions, and I was extremely disappointed to learn that you must pay an additional charge when you want broccoli in your $16 vegetables. I don't mind spending $100 on dinner, but at least give me decent portions especially since rice and broccoli really don't cost very much. I will definitely be going back to Shogun's instead next time. read more

Food was great waitress was wonderful. I was a little upset that there was a 20% service charge which I assume was a tip but then when I asked, they said the waitress got some of it. So I'm supposed to tip 20% as well as another 20% service charge. We gave the hibachi chef $10 as well so that added to the bill also. Love the rice love the food, but don't think I'm gonna go back because I'm not going to pay the restaurant money on top of what I paid for my food. read more
