I recently visited this sushi spot and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly and attentive, which made us feel welcome right away. The restaurant itself is small but quaint, very clean, and not too busy, which created a relaxed atmosphere. I chose to sit at the sushi bar and also ordered some takeout. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. I ordered the Rocky shrimp as an appetizer, and it came with a cream sauce that tasted rancid. I brought it to the staff's attention, and they were quick to replace it with a new batch, which I appreciated. However, the second serving had the same issue with the sauce tasting off. At that point, I decided not to order anything further. While the service and ambiance were definitely highlights, the issue with the food--especially being served something that seemed spoiled twice--was concerning. I'll start with the bad; we came on a Thursday evening when there seemed to be only one employee working front of house as hostess and waitress to about 5-6 tables. The dining area was not very clean- splotches of food on the wall, dirty menus, and it was muggy inside and not well air conditioned. The good; the one employee there WAS was organized, kind, and apologetic about the wait. She was more than competent and gave us great service, I just felt bad she was alone. The sushi I ordered was simple and tasted good- it was pretty messily made, but I enjoyed it anyway. And the sake selection was very nice! I've visited Mito 3 times and always order for delivery. They never disappoint! Super friendly service when you arrive and prompt to grab your order. They have your basic sushi roll selections, but also have some really cool and delicious original creations with super fun names based on local attractions or areas, like "The Epcot roll" or the "Highway 27 roll." We just moved to the area and are looking for a new sushi spot. Mito had great reviews so we decided to finally give it a try. We came in around 7:45 PM on a Tuesday and there were only two other tables with customers. We were seated quickly and offered beverages. We ordered four specialty rolls, edamame and seaweed salad. The rolls were underwhelming, the pieces were cut rather larger, the edamame was over cooked, and the seaweed salad was room temperature. Once we ordered the service became very slow. We ordered a second beer and didn't get it until much later, which was disappointing since at this time there was only one other guest in the restaurant at this time and two servers. I'd been here before for their lunch special and remember it being a good value, so wanted to try this spot out again. We walked inside and there was no one at the front stand, all we could hear was a woman on her phone in the distance. After waiting a minute or two, she came over (while still on her cell) and walked us over to a table. The menu I received was very sticky inside which was kind of gross but luckily I knew I wanted the sushi lunch special (two rolls off a list of options with miso soup for $11.99) We went around 1:15pm and were the only party inside. The lady on the phone who sat us took our order and proceeded to bring us each other's orders (we had to swap our soups and entrees). Once the meal was over, we had to get the same lady's attention to get our check. Food was overall good (despite my Philly roll ratio of 60% cream cheese to 40% salmon/ avocado) and the value as well, but with the service and sticky menus combo, these won't have me running back any time soon. read more

Huge Rant! Mito Sushi in the Golden Eagle shopping center on 27. Let me preface this by stating that we order from them several times a month...always a large order...We always order the rolls with soy paper wrap because the seaweed makes me sick. Tonight...once again, $130 order. However, they put through the original order charge, then did a charge for the soy paper on one of the rolls (my husband's) and then a third charge for the soy paper on the other roll (mine). Due to the consecutive multiple charges, my bank flagged the third transaction so it didn't go through (unbeknownst to me) We received our order and my roll had seaweed. When I called, the girl stated that the charge didn't go through and she didn't have time to call me. This to me is horrible customer service! Oh by the way.... Used Uber Eats for delivery and was pleasantly surprised the noodles and hibachi were still warm. The noodles and hibachi were overall very bland and could have used salt. Added "yum yum" sauce to the hibachi, which helped. The soup was not flavorful at all. The salad was crisp and fresh. The spicy edamame was good with the appropriate amount of "kick". The goyza was good but didn't come with the spicy chili sauce I paid extra for. The spicy tuna and salmon rolls were ok (nothing spectacular) but only came with one small container of soy sauce. I am perplexed about how this restaurant receives such high marks. Our usual teppanyaki place is Kobe - but I've read many good things about Mito so wanted to give it a try for takeout. What a regrettable mistake. My husband and I ordered the same thing - steak with chicken. It is supposed to come with vegetables and fried rice. Ours, however, came with no discernable veggies whatsoever - but the box was filled with a literal mountain of (bland) fried rice. The rice, I suppose you can call it fried, but it had no veggies or seasoning in it. It was plain white rice with soy sauce drizzled over it. And the veggies? I actually called the restaurant thinking they made a substitution or misunderstood our order. Nope. The manager told me to look under our chicken and steak to find the veggies. OK - I found 2 broccoli florets, 3 slices of carrots, and about 2-3 slices of onion. This is also the first Japanese habachi meal I ever had that didn't incldue the brown ginger sauce, or the white sauce. Also, I dont expect much from salads in a Japanese restaurant, but I do like the ginger dressing. This salad was 100% iceberg lettuce, not even one shred of anything else like red cabbage.. an onion... something? Same with the miso soup, which didn't have any tofu or spring onion in it. Mito, what is up with this? It's like the meal is missing half of the ingredients that should be included. And, for the record - what was included was not good. The chicken is the processed kind (you know, the rubbery kind injected with saline - same as you get at a mass market chain or fast food place. The steak is too chewy, but as I type this, I'll say at least my dog likes it. I have many reviews on Yelp, and none as negative as I am giving Mito. 1 star for the quality of what we had. 1 star for all of the missing ingredients that are pretty standard in a Japanese hibachi dinner, and 1 star for the person I called and laughably told me that my tablespoon of veggies under my meat were the correct portion. read more

After Disney, my family wanted something good to eat so my sister was craving for some good sushi and found this place. Located roughly 10-15 minutes away from Disney, it was easy to find with a GPS (of course!) and right in the plaza of Publix. It was cold outside (around 34 degrees) and we all wanted some soup. We were seated...right next to a large window and also near the door. Again, it was cold so we can feel the cold air from the the windows and the door (especially when someone opens it). We asked to be seated elsewhere and they kindly brought us to the other side away from the windows and doors (it was empty, so not sure why they didn't seated us here). The decor was nice and had good style. We carefully reviewed the menu and saw some good options. Of course, the prices were higher than the hometown (roughly 30%-50% more and its Orlando). We ordered a few sushi rolls, soups, hibachi, and other special entrees. Specialty sushi rolls: Dancing Dragon, Mito, and Rainbow and then the regular rolls: NY roll and Spicy Tuna. All the sushi rolls were really good and delicious! My sister got the Unagi Don (eel over rice) and that too was delicious. My parents shared the hibachi. There was a little issue with the bill. My sister's Unagi Don includes a miso soup and salad, however, they forgot the salad and charged the clear soup separate (my sister asked earlier if the miso soup can be subbed with the clear soup and the waitress said it was okay). So there shouldn't be any additional charges. Luckily because it was their mistake, they saved themselves by removing all clear soup charges and give us cash back(which was $2 each and we had 3 in total including my sister's soup). So that was a plus that they were able to find a solution quickly. I would recommend this place to others and would come back again. read more

OMG!!! I have FINALLY found a great sushi joint in Central Florida and it is so close to me!!! Guys, this place is the place to go! They just opened up two weeks ago and my roommates have been coming since they opened, and now have invited me to go, and now I understand why they keep coming here. They are conveniently located on US-27, have ample parking, and in a nice and not so populated area, so that means you don't have to wait long to be seated. I will say this, once they become popular I am pretty sure there will be a wait. My friends have said that service was slow in the beginning and that's because they just opened up and they're new. I did not encounter any long waits like my other Yelpers. From the time we sat, placed our orders and the time it came in, the food came out very fast and well presented. I'm astounded by the presentation and time the food came out. The menu is a bit overwhelming but it's because you have a lot of great options to chose from, which I love! They have cheap to affordable sushi rolls. Remember, sushi is not cheap and the sushi here is great and FRESH! I had the dragon, rainbow and avocado roll and it was so fresh. The salmon... omg delicious. As an appetizer we had fried shumai, which was delicious. As a dessert omg the mango mochi! So fresh and good! The owner was our waiter! He is so nice and spent time talking to us about the establishment. All of the furniture came from Japan. The hostess remembered my roommates and so did the manager. Mito is a decent establishment if you need a quick fix on your sushi craving. The dining space is clean and open with tables and booths, or you can opt to eat at the sushi bar. The quality of the sushi was OK. Some challenges I had with the food was that the Ikura (salmon eggs) wasn't that fresh. It tasted old and was slightly discolored. The simple rolls I had were very light on rice and only 6 pieces, normally 8 pieces at other places. I don't feel the value for money was that good. If I happen to be in the area again and have a craving, I'd be willing to visit again. But, I wouldn't go out of my way just to dine here. read more

The soup wasnt what we ordered and the food was decent but no strong flavors. We had to yell "excuse me" atleast 3 separate times when the host stand was directly next to us. Our granddaughters love sushi and make it as often as possible. We their grandparents love to take them out to dinner when they visit. They ate here on their own first. They said it was wonderful, the atmosphere, the service and the food. We were asked to take them here the next time that we were going out to eat. So, we did and they were so right! Very disappointed. The novelty of this new place is not there. The place was packed but I guess that is due to their low priced sushi. The sushi and rolls were ok but the gang ordered hibachi. We ignored the wisdom of the elders and ordered hibachi that was not prepared in-front of us but made inside the kitchen. The meet was definitely stir fried and not prepared on a grill. The noodles felt like cup-o-noodles. The veggies were in par to those Chinese delivered in a cardboard box. They were steamed then soy sauce was added to it.
