I think we've found a new weekend breakfast haunt. I went here pre-pandemic a couple of times to grab some coffee but never anything else. I think they must have expanded their offerings, because we were able to grab some sandwiches, a bakery item, and a really great cookie butter latte. I got the sparty bagel sandwich which was amazing, and my husband got a waffle breakfast sandwich. He loved the sandwich but for some reason, he couldn't get over how much he loved the tater tots. Easily the best coffee in town. The bagel sandwich is amazing as well! Their sweets are delicious and won't disappoint you.

Went out to get my coffee and donuts before Mass. Its typically QD or Groovy. Switched it up to MR. Underwhelmed for the price. Glazed was pretty dense and frankly did not seem very fresh. For two donuts I get a cardboard box with a sticker on it. I can't claim to be an expert on the financial end of food places but I think it's safe to say they pay pretty high rent where they are. So I'm aware this is primarily a bakery but I did not get any baked goods. Oops. I got the brown butter toffee latte which was hardly sweet--which was great. Our cake was delicious but the service left a lot to be desired. We went in looking for a small (6inch) wedding cake and were told, "You only have six people coming? Well. I guess you'll have leftovers." with an eye roll. And after we picked our flavor, "wow. I think that's the first time anyone has picked that flavor since I've worked here. Weird." Great study spot! I love how large the windows are which brings in so much natural light and the variety of food. There were some vegan options, donuts, breakfast/lunch items, and more. It's definitely different from the previous red cedar cafe, but in a good way. I love how close it is to campus, but it's just far enough away. Still great! They moved to East Lansing early this year or late last year, I can't remember exactly when. But they have a LOT more room. I made my husband take me there for breakfast on Mothers Day. I discovered mitten raised in its okemos site, with the sun shining in and the wonderful smell of baking so many scrumptious baked goods. It was my treat after getting allergy shops. Then I had to wait for the opening at their current location. Katie has done a wonderful job with this transformation. We love their club sandwiches on sourdough bread and a lovely sauce. Katie, the pastry chef and owner, is amazing! She made the most delicious desserts and wedding cake for Adrienne and Mitchell's wedding reception last Saturday. When we sat with her to 'taste test' we knew she was the right baker, not only because her desserts are amazing, but also because she worked to keep within our budget as well as capture the rustic aesthetic that the bride and groom wanted. Super cute shop with lotsa options. Only negative I will say is to not get the ice cream sandwiches! They were premade and the cookie was rock hard frozen. By the time the cookie was starting to thaw, the ice cream was a puddle. Good for donuts and anything you order in the store. But I HIGHLY recommend you avoid ordering a cake to be made. If you do go in person and don't order online. They lost an order for a cake I had placed. I went in a full week later on the day it should've been in and they had no idea what I was talking about. I had even gone in shortly before my order to confirm the online system would work but I chose not to order then because the website has an "inspiration" section for picture links to specific designs. Apparently only one person is in charge of online orders and they were on vacation so my order was completely ignored. Got a refund but still messed up my plans for the wedding party that the cake was for. read more

I'm such a fan of this place! The donuts are always really good and the service is always top notch. In addition to the super fun assortment of donuts, they have pastries and other snacks to choose from as well. If you are super extra picky, get there early or your favorite flavor may be sold out. I will say that even when I've had to "settle", I'm still quite pleased with my selection. I'm happy to see them occupying a larger space and look forward to trying out some of the new additions to the menu! Five stars because why? Yummalicious baked goods, the cookies, the cookies, oh my mouth was SO HAPPY! And the owner is an absolute sweetheart who has named a cookie after each of her two doggies and makes doggie biscuits as well (which my three gobbled up like greedy piggies). There are pictures of her rescued babies on the wall AND she supports animal rescues with donations and sales proceeds! Stopped in to Mitten Raised yesterday to get some samples for our company, as we are looking to use a local bakery for customer gifts. I grabbed a sampling of several things just to take back to the office and let everyone try and get feedback. The overwhelming consensus is that this place is awesome. We tried a scone, brownie, sugar cookie and a donut and I challenge you to stop eating it because you will have very little willpower once you start. I don't like donuts typically but these donuts were amazing and if you are craving a good scone stop whatever you are doing run over here. Also 10 am the atmosphere was quiet and seemed like a great place to sit down and get some work done over a great cup of coffee. I also liked that for being in East Lansing the parking was very accessible and easy to get in and out. I will definitely be telling my friends about this local gem. read more

What a gem of a bakery! Laid back atmosphere, friendly staff (the blue haired girl got such a smile from my two year old daughter) and the baked goods were delicious! I'm not a fan of too much frosting but they seem to have just the right ratio without it being too sweet. And the portion sizes are amazing, we needed boxes to take home leftovers, first bakery I've ever had more than I could eat in one sitting! Plenty of room to stretch out, and my daughter loved the little table with dolls and coloring books while she ate her cookie. We'll be back soon! read more

The workers were extremely rude and dismissive. The cafe wasn't very busy so it's not like they were trying to rush. The worker came and set down our food without saying anything or even looking at us, and I had a question for her. Overall it didn't seem like customer oriented service. Food and coffee at Mitten Raised are great. And the space is very nice. My biggest gripe with it is the workers blast their playlist way too loudly. If you're looking to hang out and get work done, might look for another place - even with my own headphones on the place's music was blasting through, which of course is that much more distracting. Turn it down! A tip to most restaurants and coffee shops: most people coming in are fine if the music is barely audible or - shocking - off. People bring their own music these days if they want to listen. Strikes me that most places play music for the employees, not the customers. read more
