On a recent sunny Bham afternoon I happened upon a beautiful, brand new, bright green food truck at Wander Brewing. Being somewhat of an aficionado of the local FT scene, I was surprised that I hadn't heard of this one yet: Mix Masala. Featuring a small-but-mighty menu of classic Indian dishes - like butter chicken, saag panner, pakoras and naan - the smells emanating from this truck were phenomenal. When I saw they had my fave, chicken tikka masala, on the menu I knew I had to order. The owners/staff were so incredibly helpful and friendly (they even said it was okay to take ten billion photos of their truck for my archives), and soon my steaming bowl of tasty goodness arrived while I enjoyed my Wander brew in the beer garden. The tikka masala was perfectly spiced, and the chicken was tender and plentiful. Served with a generous helping of basmati, and including a side of (just one) piece of naan, it satisfied my craving for Indian food and paired surprisingly well with my Uncommon California Common. The tikka sauce was a bit salty for my liking, but not enough to keep me from devouring most of it and taking the rest home to devour later. I didn't know I could have a strong hankering for pakora, but when I saw it on the side of Mix Masala food truck backing in at Stones Throw Brewery I knew I had to have it. Once they were open I ordered pakora as an appetizer and a tikka masala for my main course. The pakora was fantastic. The tikka masala was good. In hindsight I wish I'd ordered saag paneer or chana dal instead, but that will be next time. The owners were friendly and helpful, and when I was told the food would be ready in 6 minutes, they impressed me by having it ready in about 5 minutes and 45 seconds. I will happily buy food from Mix Masala again. read more

We paid $20 for one order of buttered chicken and 1 can of Diet Pepsi. There was hardly any chicken in the order 5 pieces, 3/4 by 1/2 inches A lot of sauce and rice. I ask for zero spice. and, was told all Buttered Chicken was zero spice. However, the spice level was at least a 2. We will probably never order from this food truck again. Thank you read more

A simple, no-frills Indian food truck that concentrates on tasty treats and decent pricing for a food truck. Three entrees and a handful of sides, and a few mix combos make up the entire menu, but trust me, you don't need more. It was a pleasant surprise to find it at Wander one day, and while I don't usually eat Indian food with beer, I figured....why not? We got naan, butter chicken, and saag paneer. The naan is only one piece, which was a little disappointing, but the two entrees had a good amount of meat/paneer, a pretty great sauce, and enough rice to soak it up. The best part is that they are SO NICE. You do have to check back in to get your food (no delivery to your table for now) so you should pay attention, but they're smiling, will chat with you, and are overall pleasant to deal with. They've warmed me up to Indian food with my Shoe Toss, so next time, I will be a repeat customer. read more

Really great and tasty. The portions are very generous. Everything in the menu is pretty good, it just really depends on your mood. They also use eco friendly take out containers which is a plus. The family who operates were all very friendly. Highly recommended! read more

During covid-19 I rarely go outside. However, I decided to treat myself to take out food and a drink at Stones Throw Brewery a while back. Mix Masala had a lot of great options. I got the samosas which paired really well with my beer. I'd highly recommend! Also, social distancing protocols were being followed at the brewery - which made me feel safe. I'm excited to try other menu items next time! Maybe tikka masala? Maybe butter chicken? Hmm..I'll be back. ;) read more

I keep hoping to find good Indian food in Bellingham and was encouraged by what others were saying. But sadly it's actually really awful. The butter chicken tasted like it was in tomato soup. Nothing interesting about it. The chicken, bland chunks of factory canned chicken I suspect. The saag paneer tasted weirdly smokey. Also terrible. I love Indian food. And sadly with the border closed going up to Vancouver for it is not a good option. Please... someone make something tasty. I definitely won't go back here. read more

I don't know about anybody else, but that was the worst butter chicken I've ever had. The sauce had no flavor other than bland tomato sauce, and there were 4 small pieces of chicken. That's something I could've easily made myself for 3 dollars. Felt completely ripped off. read more

Where to begin.... I was walking down the street minding my business and I look to the right and see a food truck with a nice socially distanced line. I wondered what all of the commotion was about so I decided to have a look and then.... BAM!! The aromas of all of the tantalizing species hit me. I had just finished smashing a hamburger but knew I could let pass up trying something here. I immediately got 6 feet behind the next person and decided it's go time. I'm fairly new to Indian food so I decided to go with the greatest hits but I didn't know what that was! I asked the super friendly, masked staff member what Should I try? I think her name was Kirn? She quickly suggested samosas and Tika masala. The portions were generous, the flavors were eye opening and I had leftovers for dinner. I don't fall in love easily but, it happened. I asked gentlemen making the food if he would share his location with me so I always knew where to find them and he politely pointed me their Instagram. @mixmasalabham I'm definitely keeping tabs on them and you should too! I had hoped we were going to find a hidden gem but that was not the case. We walked away being greatly disappointed in our overpriced meal! We ordered the tikka masala and butter chicken. You honestly couldn't tell which was what. While the portions were good it tasted like it was poured out of a can or a frozen meal. We have eaten curry from all different regions of India and this did not represent authentic Indian food. It lacked flavor and spice. I honestly think Trader Joe's frozen meals are better! We also ordered naan bread that was burnt. The samosas were good and would order those again. read more

Food is tasty and at good prices, beats other Indian restaurants in town. The garlic naan are delicious and samosas as well!

The portions are great for the price but I had an issue with the butter chicken. It tasted like tomato soup and the chicken itself was not as juicy as I would of expected. I will credit that a friend had the tiki masla and that tasted pretty good. read more

Great service, amazing tikka masala, and I wasn't a fan of pakora until I tried it here, now I love it! They didn't ask for a spice level on the masala, but it would rate at about a 3-4 on an average 1 through 5 heat scale, which is the perfect amount of heat for me, personally.
