    BACHAN'S BOWL
    Frederick H.

I'm fairly selective when it comes to my salads, but MIXT hits the mark every time. My favorite's the Bachan's Bowl, especially with a heavy BBQ drizzle. The MIXT Crispy is also a personal favorite when I'm feeling a sandwich instead of a salad because the apple fennel slaw is delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The people that work here are super friendly and helpful, and add to what is an overall comfy atmosphere to enjoy your lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The worse salad ever BACHELOR SALAD
    Ethel D.

This was the worst salad I've ever had. It wasn't even 15 minutes from the restaurant to my house, and by the time I opened it, it was already inedible. The cashier also had trouble ringing me up, which should've been my first red flag. I regret not checking my order before leaving, but I trusted the quality would be there. Unfortunately, it wasn't. I will never eat here again. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision. Check your food before you leave. I tried picking the meat out of it. Omg and she forgot the tomatoes.

The service is here is so kind and the food is so yummy. I love it other than the fact that it's hard to find parking

Unfortunately this was a terrible experience. I ordered the beet salad with grilled chicken and received mostly lettuce, maybe 2-3 tiny pieces of beets, and only two small pieces of chicken. For $24 with a drink, this felt like a rip-off. The salad tasted unwashed and I couldn't eat it. Gross and very disappointing. There is no listed telephone # to call the store!!!

I am not a salad person, but I want to be one. This place helps me think that I can be a salad person. First, the quality of the ingredients at Mixt is top-notch. Everything looks and tastes fresh. The greens were crisp, the vegetables were crunchy, and the dressing amount was perfect. When applying the dressing, they asked you the amount you prefer, which was a nice touch for me. Second, I loved the options. If you prefer a light and refreshing mix of greens with a simple vinaigrette or a hearty bowl packed with a variety of toppings and proteins, the options are available. We ordered the falafel and the bachan bowl. My partner is vegan, so we grabbed the falaf option, which was tasty. I generally do not like fruit in my salad, but I did love the grape in this salad. It was a lighter salad than the warm bowl we also grabbed and loved the pairing with lemon tahini vinaigrette. The Bachan bowl was a warm bowl with rice, which made it feel hearty for me. Additionally, I am a sucker for avocado and edamame. The bowl had bachan sauce, which has recently become a staple at home. Third, the prices were reasonable. Another reason I stay away from salads is the price. Here, I felt like I was getting the bang for the buck. Fourth, the decor is modern yet cozy, with plenty of natural light streaming in through large windows, and the space is clean and well-maintained. Lastly, the friendly staff was ready to assist with recommendations and special requests, ensuring that each salad was tailored to your likely taste preferences.

PEACHY SALAD w/ Trash found in it.

Found trash buried in my salad--Mixt's solution? Offer me another salad. Hard pass. On August 6, 2025, I ordered a Peachy Salad from Mixt Oakland. Halfway through eating, I found a balled-up, stained piece of paper buried in the salad, not on top, but hidden inside. Absolutely disgusting. Mixt's "compensation"? A free salad. As if I'd gamble on another bite from a place that already served me trash. That's not customer care, it's disrespect. If you value your health, skip Mixt. I know I will.

I ordered the ceaser , I added tomato's & pickled onions which I was charged for but didn't receive any. I decided to suck it up & just endure the very expensive basic salad. Went in for the 3rd bite , to my surprise was introduced to someone's hair!!

I have mixed opinions on salad bowls - I often times think that they are very overpriced, but Mixt does it pretty well. It's in line with the prices you'd expect at other salad lunch places - but I think they add a whole lot more. This represents probably the best of the salad chains you can find. I ordered their bachelor salad. Their portions are large - I felt pretty full after eating mine. I think they have creative mixes of ingredients they offer in their bowls and all ingredients taste high quality. The bachelor bowl came with beef and the beef was cooked very well - the perfect texture for a salad. I got the dressing on the side (as is the default option when you order for pickup online) - and the dressing was incredibly taste. It paired with all of the ingredients perfectly. The bowl was very large so it make it super easy to toss/mix the salad.

This is what I got and the large pieces in the picture is the butternut squash the chopped liver chicken is underneath everything..

I ordered the "Brussie" and the "Puebla" for my Husband. Looked it up online so we would know what to order once we got inside - I placed the order for my salad and the lady started making it my husband went to the restroom so when he got back another lady made his salad his was to eat in ( I ordered to go) so we decided to sit down his salad was good mine had all the toppings in the bottom of my to-go bowl ok that happens sometimes so I mixed it up and it barely had any of the overcooked Brussels sprouts my chicken was so chopped up it wasn't identifiable and tasted like liver (nothing like the picture) and maybe 10-12 tiny pieces of butternut squash. My chicken looked like burned tuna with a liver taste totally gross! My co-workers order from Mixt all the time in SF on Doordash and the salads look great! I was excited to try it and since this location is close to home I decided to give it a try but never again and had I read the reviews first I would have kept my 40.00 and went to the grocery store and made my own salad.

I've been coming to Mixt regularly for around two years now and I figure it's about time I wrote a review. Before Mixt, I was the type of person who would think it'd be crazy to pay money for a salad. "Salads don't fill you up and vegetables are cheap! I can just make a salad at home." After Mixt, my whole perspective changed. Not only are their portions pretty sizable, the concepts of their salads are fairly unique and more importantly delicious, fresh, and balanced. On top of the great food, the workers are always, and I mean ALWAYS, so welcoming and friendly. I walk away from Mixt aways feeling full and nourished and happy. The food is indeed expensive but given the quality and experience I think it's worth it, especially knowing the company is b-corp certified and part of the cost goes towards employee benefits. Things I've gotten: Bachelor salad - my favorite salad from mixt because it comes with roasted potatoes haha. It also comes with bleu cheese but I sub that for extra potatoes. Elote salad - if you like corn this would definitely be my pick Peach salad - a salad on the sweeter and more tart side Harvest salad - tastes like fall haha Crispy chicken sandwich - best bang for your buck here in my opinion. Bachan's bowl - very filling and delicious! They didn't ask for how much dressing i'd prefer so I wonder if that's fixed for the warm bowls, but i'd have prefer a tad more sauce for next time.

The salads from mixt are less than fresh and they give really small portions of Salad Dressing! I called a 415 number that has a crappy message you can't get through to a live person! You can't add anything from door dash no extras

I was full from the won ton soup, but one taste of the Sesame Noodles made me want to keep eating it. Every dish we ordered had that rich, savory, "where's the meat?" flavor... but it's all vegetarian. The just made steamed buns came out soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor, with that slightly sweet and savory filling that hits immediately. Simple, but done right. The pan-fried dumplings had that perfect golden crisp on the outside and juicy filling inside. I kept reaching for "just one more"? Yeah... that good. And the standout for me? The sweet and sour "chicken." Crispy pieces coated in that glossy, tangy sauce with bell peppers and pineapple... it looked like your classic takeout dish and tasted just as satisfying. Everything came out fresh, hot, and well-seasoned. No bland bites anywhere. Service matched the food. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and even suggested adjustments based on what was made fresh that day. He was not wrong! Parking is street parking on a one-way street in downtown Oakland, right on the edge of Chinatown. Pricing was very reasonable for the amount of food we got. They are open again!!…read more I visited Millennium the day of the re-opening in June 2026. I was so happy to find out that the food is still among the best food I've eaten, vegan or not. The new concept is prix fixe dinners on the heated, covered patio, and à la carte inside for walk-ins. I ordered from the à la carte menu and it was awesome. So easy. So delicious. My table ordered the cascatelli pasta, smoky glazed tempeh, coriander & arborio crusted oyster mushroom, and for dessert the summer sundae and chocolate tart. We were sharing so I got a taste of everything. Just amazing. It tastes just as good as before but feels much more approachable and affordable with the new concept. And you can still get the fine dining experience if you want it. I can't wait to go back on a Tuesday to try the pizza. I've heard it described as the best vegan pizza in the Bay Area by people who know what good pizza is, and I can't wait to try it. All food is vegan, and almost everything is gluten free.

You can only order the fixed menu on the patio, and the à La carte menu inside. But it doesn't say that anywhere. This is one of those places that takes a paragraph to describe a dish, but you still won't know what you're getting unless you're the chef because of the descriptions and names that they call things. We decided to stay inside and go à la carte. My family each got the veggie burger, and I went with the pasta. They seemed to like their burgers. I like my food to be a bit more straightforward, so I thought the pasta would be a safe bet. It came with a smear of pesto on the side of the dish which, although looks fancy, made the dish very impractical. Mixed in with the pasta was some arugula and cooked cherry tomatoes which they describe as a confit, but they're not. Just cooked tomatoes. The shape of the pasta was kind of difficult because it splits length wise and makes it impossible to stab with a fork, which you have to do in order to get some of the pesto on it. Over all, it was good, but I think I'd prefer a different shape of pasta and have the pesto on it instead of on the side. One thing that kind of bothered me was that my pasta came with no sides of any kind. And the portion was "fancy" so it wasn't generous. But it was the same price as the burger, which was piled so high that you literally can't fit it into your mouth, and they came with a generous side of veggies. So my family took half of their burger and all their sides home after only eating half each, and I finished my pasta and had room for more. For the same price. So I'd say the pasta is not a good value. Service wise, we had to ask for them to bring drinks that we ordered, even though they weren't busy. The ambiance was ok. Music not too loud, so we were able to talk to each other. I definitely wouldn't have chosen to come here but I guess people like places like this. I just like to know what's going on my food without needing an encyclopedia and a decoder ring.

I will say, if you have somewhere to be *ORDER ONLINE*. I got there and was told to order from the self serve tablet (I could have done this on my phone ahead of time), but I put in my order and sat down to wait for it. At the 22 min mark, the two groups of two behind me got their food before I did, so I went up to the worker behind the bar and asked if my order was ready and I was told mine would be next. All in all- took 32 mins. So again, if you have somewhere to be- order ahead! Food was good. Could definitely tell it was made fresh to order - not only because it took some time but because my friend cauliflower came out PIPING hot. Lots of oil drippings, so if that isn't your thing, may not be for you, but I will say that it was my fav bite. This was a good restaurant- I would say 4 stars for the food alone. BUT if you're in a pinch, either order online or maybe save this spot for when you have more time. Also- I know that good quality food is pricey, this place is no exception. But you pay for what you get and the quality is better than that of fast food.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Burma Superstar…read more My nephew and I were running late and arrived around 2:20 PM--after the kitchen had technically closed. Instead of turning us away, the staff graciously seated us and welcomed us with genuine warmth and kindness. That level of hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated. Our server, Hameed, was absolutely wonderful--so patient, attentive, and gracious even though we arrived at such an inconvenient time. He made us feel completely welcome and never rushed us. The food, as always, was extraordinary. The Tea Leaf Salad and Samosas were exquisite--bright, complex, and perfectly balanced. This was my nephew's first time trying Burmese cuisine and he was completely blown away. For our mains, I had the Shredded Mint Chicken, which was fragrant, fresh, and packed with flavor. My nephew ordered the Chili Lamb, and he loved every bite--rich, savory, and beautifully spiced. It was one of those meals where every dish delights, and you leave already thinking about what you'll order next time. Burma Superstar has long been one of my favorite restaurants in Oakland, and experiences like this are exactly why. Exceptional food, exceptional hospitality, and a team that truly cares about their guests. I will continue to recommend Burma Superstar most highly to anyone looking for a memorable meal in the East Bay.

I had my 40th birthday party here and that was fabulous. It's been a favorite for many years but…read moreisn't as fabulous since the pandemic hit. Things changed: more breading on the chicken (spicy crispy chicken) and reduced protein in some of the other dishes, too. But the flavors still hit and its popularity hasn't dimmed much on the nights I've gone over the last few years. I bought their cookbook years back but much of what I like isn't in it, so I keep coming back for the food and community vibes. There is a communal table, which I appreciate though I tend to sit at the bar when I go alone. It's worth it to get a view of what's happening all around you. The B S in Alameda doesn't have the same energy or coziness, but it is easier to access with safer parking (now windows broken there but I've had that here and been hassled walking to/from) and dramatically shorter waits. The diversity of the diners is much lower than this one though (Alameda is still mostly old white people) and the menu has more options here, so I'll continue to return again and again and recommend it to others ... and hope to not have to replace car windows.
