We placed an order through DoorDash the other night and tried two pizzas--the Momo Pizza and the Ms. Lolita--along with their house-made meatballs. The pizzas had a thin crust but were nothing particularly special. The meatballs were also quite bland and lacked flavor. I'm glad we gave it a try, but unfortunately we don't plan to order from here again.

TL:DR - Great little shop; pizza very good Service - top notch, super friendly Parking - street parking only; neighborhood is tired. Oakland leadership (if there is any) needs to clean up the City to support local shops like Bloom Food - 1. New York pizza was awesome. Thin, crispy 2. Meatballs - Lot so sauce served pipping hot Slightly spicy. Very tasty Check out Bloom if in the area

I'm thinking I love this place! It's a go to spot when in the area. Decent prices, ok street parking, and shareable. One of those pizzas that have good crust, good sauce, and good placement of ingredients; and a good place to watch the world go by while eating. I can eat 3 slices unnoticed. Good NY style pizza with nothing too fancy. Staff is friendly. They'll bring out water after you order at the desk. They have hot honey too, for an extra cost. It's a small place with not that much seating though. I never seen it get too crowded around 5 or 6pm.

Vegan for 13 years and the vegan pizza here is easily in our top 3!!! When we think of pizza this is what we crave. The cheese melted so well. They use Violife which is our favorite. Their pepperoni is so good. And the crust is divine! It was cooked perfectly. We shared a pizza before a show and then wished they were open late because we would have grabbed a 2nd pizza after the show if they were! I apologize for not taking a pic before we dug in but I forgot because it just looked so damn good.

I ordered the calzone supreme on 04/25/26 and unfortunately I was too hungry to take a picture! The best calzone Ive ever had!! I cleaned my plate. Im going to be dreaming of this calzone until Im back in Oakland.

Ordered takeout pizza from Bloom last night for the first time. I was happily impressed. The store was bright and clean with friendly efficient service. The pies were perfectly done with a delicious sauce and the perfect amount of cheese and condiments. I was particularly impressed the nice thin crust. Will certainly return for more.

We ordered through doordash, and was pleasantly surprised by how good delivered pizza could taste. The crust was thin with a slightly chewy texture. Their tomato sauce is really flavorful and provided a great base for all the yummy ingredients on top. They also have oven-baked wings in either plain or hot buffalo sauce. The buffalo sauce ones were too spicy for me, but if you like hot wings, these are for you. The plain wings were delicious and juicy. We also got some garlic bread, which was crispy and buttery. Overall, a delicious pizza that I'd order from again. (Sorry for the half eaten food pics. We couldn't wait lol.)

Wow I was quite shocked and amazed. I've lived in Oakland for years and I never knew this place existed. Had pizza here tonight for the first time and it was fantastic. Service also great. Do not leave anything visible in your car or it will be stolen. Simple dining room but very clean.

Their New York Pizza. I was actually shocked by how different and yummy their standard pizza is. Will be coming back to try others.

I was just looking for something quick to eat. Instead I got pizza place to come back too. Pizza can often be forgettable. Then there are pies we crave and go out of the way to come back to. That's this place for me.

A pleasant surprise find in Oakland on New Year's Day. Real NY style pizza on the west coast. We ordered the New York pizza pie $26 (large - 8 slices). Plenty to take home. Reasonably priced. Choice of Medium and Large size pizza pies. Pizza was not being sold by the slice at this time. A decent variety in bottled micro brews. No beers on tap. The service was friendly and very welcoming. So many orders were for pickup this day, but the seating was adequate and could easily accommodate a party of 4-6ppl. The restaurant was very clean. Also, the neighborhood felt safe and was clean. We found street parking right in front of the restaurant. I would easily come again when in the area or wanting some NY style pizza.

"Bloom" is a New York style pizzeria in downtown Oakland, that says it's got the best pizza in town! Opened in Nov 2022, this pizzeria offers NY Style pizza, calzones, salads, wings, meatballs, desserts and drinks. I got a tip from another Yelper that I should go try this place, so I went by to grab some takeout on a Sunday. I ordered the Supreme Calzone and a Large Caesar Salad. Staff were really friendly. This restaurant has a familiar layout. Narrow dining room, with the counter in the back. My food was ready on time, and I was on my way. I like calzones, it's like a pizza turnover. A calzone is a folded pizza. Some places put slashes across the top. Bloom makes a really good calzone, I like it. The dough isn't thick. When you take a bite, you taste the rich fillings. The menu says: "Ricotta blend with buffalo mozzarella, sausage, pepperoni, onions, spinach, mushroom & pecorino romano." Price $15. That's a fair price for a good well-balanced calzone. Includes free marinara sauce. Also, I ordered a Large Caesar Salad. Now everytime I see some place charge over $10 for a salad, I have to wonder if it's worth it. I think this salad is worth the price. Thick grilled white meat, crunchy lettuce, croutons, parm cheese, and caesar dressing. The key thing for me was the big chunks of chicken weren't dry and were easy to eat. Calzone + Caesar Salad= balanced meal, - everyone is happy.

Traditional Margherita and MoMo (Chef's special***)

A great easy find in Oakland! Reasonably priced and they can pump out the pizzas so quick! We ordered two pizzas on a Sunday night and got them in less than 25 minutes. The ambiance inside is cute! They've decorated the tiny spot just like a New York pizza spot. The MoMo had pineapple and honey -- two very sweet items but it balanced out well with the jalapeños. They also use Garza olive oil!

Momo with no jalapeños, looks plain but is SO good especially with the hot honey.

Jeff, the owner and pizza maker, is so nice, warmly welcoming us upon arrival and inquired if we'd prefer indoor or outdoor seating. Beautiful day so opted for outdoor on their expansive back patio. Soppresata - an OG item on the menu and one of my favorites. Simple classic pizza with soppresata topped with scallions and honey. Savory, sweet. The honey is perfect on this pizza. Longanisa - Filipino inspired with longanisa, baked egg, and tomato. Savory and sweet. Heaviest of the three pizzas. Comes with a side of sweet vinegar to drizzle on top. All three of these pizzas easily are favorites for me. They're super large and best to share with 2-3 people. All thin crust. 6 of us had these three pizzas and were able to finish it but were super stuffed. Wishing the best to Jeff and Spinning Dough's next adventure.

At least I got to go a couple times before they closed and was able to try all the unique flavors that I wanted to try. The first time I went was with my family. We got a whole Ube pizza. The taste was good, and love the uniqueness of it. Even the dough is purple! There weren't that many people there when we went, so the service was quick. My second visit was closing weekend with a group of friends. I got to try two more flavors recommended by the server during my first visit - blackberry and longanisa. Both were very good in different ways. I think I preferred the blackberry slightly over longanisa. They had a lot of take out orders that day, and we got the last white dough (there were still Ube). Good thing we got what we got. Even though they were super busy, the service was still quick and pizza came out fast. I heard they opened up again in San Francisco but for take out only. So glad they reopened because after having the amazing pizzas right before they closed on Oakland, my friends and I were sad that we didn't go sooner. Can't wait to try again in the future.

Their pizzas are already reliably delicious, but this deal is genuinely outstanding value since you get a large 18" pizza, your choice of a Caesar or dinner salad, and four very large sea salt chocolate chip cookies, all for $35. We grabbed two of these specials for a group of six and still had leftovers, so I'd say one combo easily feeds three people and could probably stretch to four as long as no one is absolutely starving. The pizzas themselves are ultra thin but still hold up structurally since you can lift and fold each slice without everything collapsing, which is exactly how I like to inhale my pizza. I personally wish the crust were just a touch more burnt and crackly on the edges, but even without that extra char, the flavor and bouncy chew of the dough were spot on. We ordered the Hot Italian and the Sausage & Roasted Garlic pies and absolutely loved both, especially the housemade sweet Italian sausage that appears on each, which is savory, slightly sweet, and super satisfying in every bite. Their house tomato sauce deserves its own shout out because it hits that ideal balance of sweetness and acidity and ties everything together perfectly. On the Sausage & Roasted Garlic it plays beautifully with the rich roasted garlic purée, and on the Hot Italian it stands up nicely to the Calabrian chilis and chili oil without getting lost. The sea salt chocolate chip cookies that come with the special are huge and packed with chocolate chips, and that little hit of salt really enhanced the flavors but the something about the texture was a bit off for me as it wasn't quite chewy or crumbly but rather something in between, which left me a little confused. Another big plus is that Violetta has a full bar so you can pair your meal with a beer, a glass of wine, or a cocktail to match whatever pie you are in the mood for. Between the quality of the ingredients, the thoughtfulness of the flavor combinations, and the generosity of the Restaurant Week deal, Pizzeria Violetta is an easy recommend and a spot I would happily return to with a group (or by myself with plenty of leftovers!).

I don't know why the pies cost so much, but they are only a few blocks from our place, so I want to support the few restaurants that set up shop in West Oakland. However, I'm starting to sour on this place. I don't mind overpaying for pizza; that's just edible, but on a few occasions, I've been appalled by what these folks try to get away with. A couple of months ago, they gave us a pie that was so burnt I had to call to complain, and they replaced it with a less burnt pie. Perhaps they don't know that extremely burnt food is full of carcinogens. This week, we ordered our usual 18-inch pie. This pie was a Frankenstein pie; half of it tasted like it had been sitting under the lamp all day. A telltale sign is how stiff the cheese is; the old dough feels as if I'm chewing on rubber, and the slices are stiff and salty overall, though some slices taste a bit fresher and crunchier. I was disappointed. If you're going to overcharge for mediocre pizza, the least you could do is give people what they are paying for. If I wanted old, stale pizza, I would've asked for the slices that sit under the lamp all day. Moving forward, if we order from this place, I will walk over, place the order, and wait for it, so we don't get cheated again. This place is a reminder of why certain restaurants often fail. The food is overpriced, and they are inconsistent with their service, if not disrespectful, in how they sometimes treat and feed their customers. We're not pigs; we just like eating the sweet little pig.
