BLT hot, combo. I specifically said white bread. Not sourdough bread. Don't come here. Plenty of other options nearby, like bagel shop and subway. I've worked in this area for 15 years and decided to give them a chance again. Avoid. Too late for ne to complain to them in person because I'm back in my office

Taking over the previous spot of Fresh Fuel, North Beach Deli has a wide variety of hot/cold sandwhiches, wraps and salads. Got the 8" roast beef on sourdough for $7.50 total and It's a good value and tasted good. Since Quiznos left the center and not many other sandwhich places nearby, it's a good option. Workers are friendly and efficient. It's more of a take out spot with only 1 table for 2 and a few chairs along the window.

I'd like to preface this review by saying I've only had one menu item from this place, but it works for me because it's good quality and reasonably priced. I order the Pollo Piadina, which is $5 out the door! I'm in Downtown Oakland frequently and there are not many places where you can get a decent bite to eat for $5. The flavor of the Pollo Piadina is good and the pita style bread is super soft. The veggies used are fresh and the sauce they add to it is pretty tasty. If you're looking for a quick bite and don't wanna break the bank, check this place out.

There's nothing special about this place. You've got your standard sandwich shop with your standard sandwiches. Service is fast enough. My biggest gripe is the portion size of their BLT. I got a wad of lettuce, good chunk of tomato, and a tiny sliver of bacon. I could hardly taste it. I felt like they were hinting at me to become vegetarian or something.

I'm forever grateful for that recommendation because they make some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've tried a few items on the menu, but the one I always recommend is the Hot Italian. Everything about this sandwich is incredible. It's packed with flavor, and you can honestly tell it was made with care. I usually pair it with a bag of chips, and the total comes to around $18. It's absolutely worth every penny and always leaves me full and satisfied. The shop is consistently clean, and the customer service is always friendly and welcoming. I find myself going back over and over again, then telling myself I need to take a break--only to end up back there a few weeks later. That's how good it is. A couple of things to keep in mind before you visit: there's only limited street parking, so you may have to circle the block to find a spot. There's also not much room to wait inside, although they do have a bench or two where you can sit while your sandwich is being prepared. In my experience, the wait is usually around 15 minutes. I've honestly never been here when it wasn't busy, so expect a crowd. But once you take that first bite, you'll understand why. Great food, great atmosphere, and great customer service. I highly recommend checking this place out!

The deli is a nice size with a couple of benches to sit and wait for your food. You can look at the menu and order, plus grab a drink or chips. They have a nice variety of items to grab that go well with your sandwich. The service was friendly and quick. Workers were all kind, and we love that it's dog-friendly! Regarding the sandwiches, you can get a hot or cold sandwich. You can also build your own! Companion got the Hot Boy, and I went the Build Your Own route. The sandwiches are hefty, with lots of great meats and fillings, and for the price, very decent! I wish my bread were a bit more toasted and crunchier, but that's my preference. It hit the spot, and I'd be open to trying their other sandwiches. I don't often go to delis, but Brothers Deli was a nice place to try. We enjoyed it by the waterfront, which makes it a great picnic option. Find them off Park Blvd., with street and residential parking around.

I had to come here twice back to back on different days to try another option on the menu. What I loved about it is the portions are huge and you could definitely feed 2 people, although prices are quite steep for the sandwiches. Sichuan Hot Chicken 5/5 This is as equally as good with Hot Boyz. So flavorful, nicely seasoned, juicy, crispy and tender. The sesame bun is an awesome take and elevated the hot chicken sandwich even more. It's not as heavily spiced as hot boyz so my stomach acid wasn't acting up right after which is a big plus. It's very well balanced. I would say maybe a touch more on sauce but other than that I loved it. Sisig Bolillo 5/5 Wow another great option! This was so good. Literally a filipino breakfast in one bite. Very flavorful, well seasoned, tender, rich, and with a touch of lime it helped cut through the fat and heaviness. I would've wished for more lime since 1 tiny slice wasn't enough or vinegar like sauce on the side. But i thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich. Bread was warm and crunchy but super soft and fluffy on the inside. Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap 2.5/5 My least favorite and I think they took it off the menu. What I didn't like about it was that the chicken wasn't seasoned enough or it lacked flavor. The dressing wasn't enough either because I didn't taste it at all. I did take a bite of this right away after a few bites of the chicken sandwich because I was worried about losing the texture of the croutons but it was already soft and mushy. Service & Ambience It's minimal. I ordered and waited for pick up. Staff is friendly. It's a sandwich shop so it's a to go spot with minimal dining spaces. Anyways I'm definitely coming back for one of the top two!

We stopped by on a Friday during lunch and had to wait in line and for our order. It may be helpful to order in advance to minimize your wait time. Service was friendly and efficient, despite how busy it was. I will say the prices are a bit steep, as most sandwiches are around $18-20 and the sides are around $7-8+. However, the menu is quite varied with a good amount of classic sandwiches, signature items, and sides. We wanted to try the Sichuan Chicken bites, but they were sold out unfortunately. I ended up ordering the House Turkey Breast without red onions, and was impressed with the quality and flavor of the sandwich. I liked the inclusion of both the alfalfa and avocado. We also ordered a side of the house ramen spiced fries, which were tasty and crispy but didn't quite leave an impression. I'm curious to return and try other items including the house banh mi and konbini egg salad. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're nearby and in the mood for a delicious sandwich.

They have a modest but solid selection of Italian deli meats (Serrano ham, prosciutto, pancetta, etc), pasta, olive oil, vinegars, and a couple specialty jams (calabrian chile orange, etc) - basically all you'd need for a gourmet charcuterie board meal or snack. Last time I was here, picked ip a bottle of nicely aged balsamic vinegar from Italy, which has lasted me for a couple years. Today, decided to try one of their specialty Italian sandwiches with a shot of expresso on the side... and Mama Mia was the sandwich absolutely amazing! I highly recommend the Jamon Serrano & Manchego sandwich ($14.50). It comes with shaved ribbons of serrano ham, 1/5 inch thick slice of aged manchego cheese, a creamy spread of chevre goat cheese, chopped/marinated artichokes and arugula greens on a crusty/crunchy baguette (between half to a full foot long). I practically finished this within 10 minutes - it was so good! The expresso shot ($3.25) was also a good pairing for me. Loved the aroma, made from nicely dark roasted beans. It's a cute delicatessen/restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Immediately the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The woman at the register was very nice and asked if we had any questions. My mom and I shared a pastrami sandwich, Brussels sprouts, fries, and slaw. It was reasonably priced for the Bay Area. When they brought the food to the table I was shocked. Everything looked amazing and very appetizing, and the portions were much bigger than expected. Before she brought the sandwich over, she asked if we were sharing it and was so nice to split it into 2 plates for us. That was very kind for her to do. Let's start with the French fries. Omg they were perfectly crisp but still fluffy on the inside. They had so much flavor probably because of the beef tallow and had just the right amount of salt on them. There was a side of mayonnaise with the fries, and it tasted homemade. I meant to ask them if it was. It was very good lol I couldn't get enough. The poppyseed slaw was very refreshing and it was tangy and sweet. We loved that the cabbage remained crispy and it was great for a warm day. The fried Brussels sprouts were full of flavor. They were a nice balance of sweet and salty. I loved the bacon on them. The hot pastrami sandwich definitely satisfied my pastrami craving! There was just the right ratio of meat-cheese-sauerkraut-mustard-dressing. The bread tasted freshly baked as well. It was full of flavor. And the side salad that came with the sandwich was excellent. We loved the tanginess of the dressing. We were shocked that there wasn't more people inside, but also for 2pm on a Monday, it probably was just an off hour. We had so many leftovers as we both don't eat very much, but lol as soon as I got home I started eating some more of the slaw and salad. Can't wait to eat the rest for lunch tomorrow. We are already planning on coming back to try the meatballs next time and definitely trying their Indian cuisine! I'll have to bring my husband here next. Thank you guys for an amazing lunch!

Awhile back, I tried to bring as much business to Star Meat as I could because 1. it's a small business and 2. it's inside Star Grocery (which I LOVE, so it's convenient). When I would go there, there would often be 2 or 3 people behind the counter and oftentimes I would be the only customer. I felt like I had to stand there forever before anyone even acknowledged I existed. Each person would be busy doing something, but there was no "I'll be with you in 2 minutes." Finally, I went one day and there were 3 workers behind the counter chatting with each other. I was the only customer and was standing around 6 feet away from them, looking right at them. They went on with there conversation (not doing any other work) for a full 5 minutes. Finally I thought, "OK, they really don't seem to want my business, so I can go to any one of 4 other places and get what I want." That was a year or two ago. So, today I thought, why not give it another try, it's certainly convenient. Again, I'm the only customer at the counter. One guy is washing equipment and two guys are making sandwiches. I know that they know that I'm there, there are mirrors all along the back wall exactly for the purpose of seeing the customers. After around 4 minutes I think, who knows how long I'm going to be standing here. Maybe they have to make 20 sandwiches and I'll be here for a half hour. So, I left. I don't have anything like this experience at the 4 other meat counters I go to in the area. I'm totally fine waiting if I have some sense that I'm waiting for a purpose and that the worker will get to me as soon as they can. But at Star Meat, it feels like I'm more of an inconvenience than a customer. "Hi, I'll be with you as soon as I can," goes a long way.
