We love this place. There's a small place to eat, service is quick and friendly, but we usually get it to go or delivered. Everything is good, but the fresh salsa and a shrimp chimichanga with bacon are my go-to's.

Was given chicken instead of steak

Ordered steak enchilada with ranchera sauce. I was given chicken instead of steak and I don't think there was even any sauce on it at all. It was so bland and incredibly disappointing. Only thing giving 2 starts is the soup was incredible.

Overall Thoughts: I ordered pickup from Mixteco Grill, and not only does the food come out within minutes, it's also strikingly delicious, flavorful, and priced fairly. When you order pickup on their website, you can also opt to use either their 10% coupon or spin to win a free appetizer. I'm generally not a big takeout person, but this is definitely a top spot that I'll order from again in the future-- I'm eager to try more of their menu! Food I tried: - Craft Taco Lunch Special-- Baja Fish & Grilled Shrimp Tacos (4.7/5): These 2 tacos were fire. The sauces were sharp and creamy, and the fish/shrimp were fresh, bursting with flavor, and really just melted in the mouth. - Tofu Fire Quesadilla (4.7/5): Although I can't say I've had too many quesadillas in my life, this was among the best I've ever had-- especially for a tofu quesadilla, which is rarely amazing in my experience. This tofu was well-seasoned though, and packed with rich, savory flavor. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.3/5 Food: 4.7/5 Ambience: N/A Takeout Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.6/5

Fire Grilled Quesadilla with chicken, Fried-Shrimp Taco, Salsa Fresca and Chips, Queso Dip
    Erik B.

A big quesadilla sounded good for dinner but I didn't want to give the usual big places more money so I did a quick search and came across this Tex-Mex restaurant that has been around for a little while but only just opened their second location in Noble Square last year. This was my first time trying Mixteco and it was a very pleasant experience. I got the Fire-Grilled Quesadilla with grilled chicken, a fried shrimp taco and a side of chips with their salsa Fresca as well as some queso dip. The chips are a very good extra thin style with nice flavor that taste great with both the salsa they come with and the queso dip. It's like a better tasting Chili's chips and salsa. In fact all of the salsas I tasted had very nice flavors to them including the salsa verde and spicy habanero that comes inside of the fire-grilled quesadillas. I appreciate that they offer several types of quesadillas that all come with a small side of guacamole and sour cream. The shrimp taco had two huge breaded shrimps that were perfectly crispy and well-seasoned and the aioli, pickled onions and cole slaw that came on top were delicious. A great value at only $5.25. A few tips: 1) go to their website if you're going to be ordering to go as they had an introductory offer of free regular size chips and salsa. 2) keep an eye on the estimated order ready time. I ordered for pickup around 9pm and got a confirmation saying my food would be ready in 5 mins. Luckily I was close by and had already started walking to the car when I placed the order. The meal was bagged and ready to go when I got to Noble and Division about 7 minutes later. Staff was very friendly and although empty the interior of the restaurant actually looked rather nice for a fast-casual spot. Smelled great inside of there and I was fighting not to add more to my order after seeing several other delicious menu items like burritos, nachos and other tacos being boxed/bagged up. In the end I'm glad I did not as the portion sizes were large. I'm very happy I didn't just settle for anywhere and found Mixteco because I will definitely be coming back at some point.

Azteca Burrito with carne asada , fried fish taco, and el pastor taco

This's our first time trying this place, you order it from the register and they bring it to your table. The inside is very clean, and the food came really fast. We got the azteca burrito with carne asada, a fish taco ( opted for battered fried fish) and el pastor taco. The burrito is a little too salty to our liking. The fish taco was good, it's fried perfectly and with the pico de gallo and pickled onions! And the el pastor taco has a little bit of pineapple which gives it a nice touch. They also have topo Chico which is a plus, that's my go to drink every time we go get tacos. If you are at any of the car dealerships nearby to get your car serviced, consider take a quick walk to this place for lunch/ snack.

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by Mixteco Mexican Grill. To note: I'm a huge fan of Texmex & Mexican cuisine in general. I got to try out a couple of items on the menu, and I will definitely be back! This location is conveniently located in Wicker Park, and they also do delivery and takeout. The quality of everything was very fresh and all the portions here are huge (so you are getting the bang for your buck). I was recommended the quesadilla here, and it was delicious; but I HIGHLY recommend getting the guacamole (made fresh daily) and trying the street tacos --the Baja fish taco was my favorite. They also have dessert options like churros with chocolate sauce (very tasty). Overall: give this spot a try! Great takeout spot, but they also have a fairly large dining area too: Staff was very friendly and the food came out very fast and delicious.

Honestly pretty good for a casual dinner. It's located in a slightly weird area (residential) so I feel like no one knows about it/there are rarely ever people there. The guac and chips are solid and the burrito was pretty good. It was also a decent price. Nothing life changing but also on the higher end of neighborhood taco places especially outside of Pilsen.

Not bad for a work lunch. Will def order again. It arrived fresh and hot!!! Great flavors!

This place is delicious. My best friend is Mexican and put me onto this place, now we eat here all the time. We actually just went to her Taco Tuesday birthday where we were happy to discover that Mixteco catered!!!

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. I must admit that I had low expectations because quite frankly, I have not enjoyed Mexican food outside of Mexico or California. Both adults and the VERY picky children in our group all enjoyed our meals. I ordered the green chicken enchiladas and the other adult ordered a chile relleno combo, which I also got to try. Everything was delicious and devoured by all! We were so full but the owner talked us into the chocoflan, and we did not regret trying it. It was soooo good! Speaking of the owner, the service was great. We really enjoyed how he and the rest of the staff were very courteous. It is a small establishment, and it gets a good amount of people, so I assume that there are waits during peak hours. I highly recommend Sabroso! Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it!
