Wonderful Every time I Go!! I feel uncomfortable sitting next to people I don't know but it takes me out my shell to get to know others.

I hate doing reviews like this because in the past I've given great reviews to Miyako Sushi & Hibachi... but Mother's Day 2026 was honestly disappointing. Soon as we sat down, there was literally a bug on its back fighting for survival from the freezing AC . Definitely not the welcome we expected. Then came the hibachi experience... or lack of one. No jokes, no tricks, no energy, no interaction. If you've ever been to hibachi, you know part of what you're paying for is the entertainment and fun from the chef. This felt more like somebody quietly cooking dinner at home. Now I WILL say this -- the food was still good. That's honestly the only reason this place even gets 2 stars from me instead of 1. Very disappointing experience overall, especially for Mother's Day. Hopefully this was just an off day, but I'd definitely say think twice before visiting right now. read more

I visited my family for my sister's graduation, and we decided to come here on a Saturday afternoon. This is located in a busy shopping center. We were greeted immediately but were told we couldn't be seated until everyone was there. It was only a party of 7 and 5 of us walked in together. After the other 2 of our party arrived about 5 minutes later, we were seated at a table of our own. Our server and our cook were both friendly. There wasn't anything spectacular or out of the norm than most other Japanese steakhouses. Our cook was engaged with us, not only about food, but about graduation and his family, etc. It was cool to find out we had some things in common. He was really friendly. I was amazed at the amount of food we got. I enjoyed a full meal there and still had food left over for another meal! I couldn't imagine going at dinner time when you get more! I will say my only complaint is that after we paid, the server never came back. She just left her tray on the table with sauces, and we never saw her again. read more

My experience with their take out was pretty mid. Their menu is pretty broad where you have options of ordering different hibachi combos to traditional Japanese entrees, and even sushi. I order their special rolls, 8 pieces of tuna sushi, and udon. The taste of the food is a solid 2.5 of 5 stars for me. Why? To start off, the udon seemed very average. The broth didn't taste good and the noodles had a rubbery taste with a soggy overcooked texture. They also didn't give the right sauce. Instead of tempura sauce, they gave me soy sauce while the tempura batter was also very thick. The right sauce could've made a huge difference in taste. The tuna was very watery in taste and their special spicy tuna roll tasted pretty bland. Also, restaurants that provide to go soups need to separate their noodles from the broth, but they combined mine into a single container. I recommend the restaurant to focus on the ingredients for better quality. Overall a 2.5 experience. Perhaps I will try their hibachi menu next time. read more

Great place for hibachi to go! Although its heavvyyy on the pricey side for sure. I just had the seafood lover to go and it was $35+. Food tasted great and fresh though! Took a chance on Sushi in the middle of Georgia. Went at 5p on Masters week. Pretty empty then so easy seat at Sushi bar. Felt like i sat in employee break room as all 7 servers hang out at hostess stand to gossip n chk cell phones. Do cell phones take priority over tables? Maybe its more quiet when they are busy and have tables. But i commend them on having staff ready. Jyst too much chatter in front of house. Server Elaine was attentive and checked on me often. So I appreciate that and tipped her generously. Sashimi was cut thick and large but the yellowtail was the only thing with flavor. Red Snapper bland. Salmon bland. Rolls were large and well done. Typical of most sushi places. Spicy tuna is chopped n not much flavor. Spider roll was great n Shrimp tempura roll was fine as well. Price is reasonable. No cold sake on a Saturday night but the place is clean. All in all probably the best you can do in the middle of Georgia. read more

Good food, Service, good calmer prices affordable. They only complaint I have , the restaurant smells very strong with cleaning products.. It's so bad till I cannot wait to eat and get out of there. And it makes me wonder about the fumes getting into the food you can clean without having it overbearing when you walk into the door. I think they need to train their cleaning crew how to use chemicals in the proper way of using them plus they could save on money. And still have the restaurant clean. read more

The only reason I can't comment on the experience/service here is because a client of mine offered takeout. Besides that, the food was excellent. I had leftovers and they held up for dinner that night for a picky husband. Forgive me, but I don't know what the order was--had well done pieces of steak and rice. I was traveling and wanted a steak but the wait at Longhorn was 45 minutes on a Friday evening so I went across the street to Miyako for steak hibachi. I was seated within minutes. The place is pretty large with a bar area and a separate area for chef-led meals, but I chose to sit at a high top near the bar. I decided to order a sashimi appetizer with my steak. I did not have high hopes as I really love sushi and just did not expect a spot near the interstate in Grovetown to provide quality fish. I was so wrong. The sushi was superb. Very fresh and generous with a pretty presentation. I was very surprised to get such a generous portion at such a reasonable price. I wish this place was closer to me. I would be a regular. My hibachi meal was also prepared just as I requested and was delicious. My server, David, was also wonderful. He brought out some sauces for me to try and was perfect - always there when I needed something but not hovering. He offered help but once he knew I knew what I wanted he listened and offered great service. The bar area was a bit loud as several folks near me were celebrating birthdays and the waitstaff does a drumming type song but it was fun and not annoying. I was super happy with the quality of my rare steak, the vegetables and fried rice. Next time I am in that area I will probably order more of their sushi. I highly recommend this place! read more

To be fair, we have retried this location a few more times since the Covid-era disasters that many restaurants suffered and had. Starting again in 2023 to 2025. Generally speaking, we have noticed better cooks & cooking in the evenings 4/5+, than the opening and afternoon cooks and cooking, which generally was 2/5 to 3/5. I always enjoy coming to miyako when. I'm otw home from Atlanta . today I stopped in to get some sushi before I head back to Columbia and my server Miya was the absolute worst server I could get she got mad when she messed up my sushi order. She then neglected me for the rest of my time there I couldn't get a refill or even sauce I had to call the manager over just to even get my check . I think having a customer service job comes with a lot but getting an attitude and neglecting me because you got in your feelings isn't right . Miyako please hire better ! read more

I don't know what happened but I reviewed this place before. When I am in Augusta Georgia I run here to eat their sushi and the hibachi is SO good. The rice is so good at this place. We went back three times over two weeks. You can get Hibachi in the regular dining room. The only thing I will say is the tables and booths should be updated. ***Review on the food**** I ordered sushi, spicy tuna and spicy salmon roll from their menu. (Can you tell I like spicy!) The sushi was kinda of fresh, but the sushi had a not organic and ALOT of spices added to it to mask the freshness of the fish. I normally eat at a lot of sushi restaurants and can taste the quality of their sushi. It is not a bad sushi, but compared to big cities where they get fresh fish daily, it is obvious on the quality of the fish. My friend ordered the hibachi of Shrimp and beef, she loved it, minus the vegetables, (personal preference) ***Review on the social distancing**** I was disappointed with how Miyako handled the social distancing issue. Upon arriving to the restaurant there were people all around every corner in the waiting room and the wait area of the restaurant. I am not sure if they were from the same party, but I rushed right in to avoid the crowd. Apparently a lot of their customers were waiting for the Hibachi area. read more

For $30+ I would have expected my steak to not be rancid or old. It had a sour liver taste and smell and was cooked well even though it was to be medium. I ordered take out 6/30/25 after work and thank goodness I was able to salvage some of my meal after tossing out the steak in my chicken and steak hibachi combo -which by the way I ordered the chicken with steak and was upcharged for the steak with chicken ( I noticed; not cool) I was too tired to cook a different meal or drive back over there yesterday and my stomach is still torn up so I thought I'd add this review instead going in and acting a fool in the restaurant. I like this place and have not had an issue previously aside from sad salad. Please do better. No one wants food poisoning. read more

I've always liked Miyako both for sushi and hibachi. I took someone their last night. The menus were filthy, (I don't know how they get covered in food since they come prior to food). We had questions for server---We wanted a cheaper sub for a drink (one Saki for two cocktails) on a dinner special for two. Nope. Another sub--Nope. OK--we ordered a two person hibachi meal and also a sushi appetizer. Soup and salad came almost instant, no drink yet, no app. The food came pretty quick (not time to finish soup and salad)---too quick (we were being rushed out). We learned the appetizer had not been put in--and said to please put in the sushi order. The food, main dish now, was sitting whilst eating soup and salad (no appetizer). Drinks came (long island ice tea---but not a usual one looks more like lemonade than tea), but drinkable. My guest asked for a plate to invert over their main plate to keep food warm. A tiny plate was brought back that could not possibly work, she asked again, then were told no--"We can't bring those plates". It's OK since the food was cold by then anyway. We asked about the appetizer after ordering it twice---and I asked for manager. On the third try, the appetizer had not been ordered (did we want Sushi for dessert)? --we gave up by that time. We made clear to the manager the things that had gone wrong, the filth on menu (food or nose---), the not putting in the order three times for appetizer (it was now three), the food coming out pretty much right on top of soup and salad before drink, before the non-existant appetizer--like we were being rushed out on Sunday eve. We tried to wolf our foods down while warm-. For all of this--I'd usually do not write a bad review. I tipped the waitress well accounting for a minor discount we were given by the manager. THIS IS ALL A MANAGEMENT PROBLEM. But what I cannot forgive is that the filth led to an explosive liquification event of everything in my gut about an hour or so later after I got home. No need to get into gory details ----though I had to live though it. Sorry to see Miyako go downhill like this. I hope you clean up before making too many others sick. I've been here literally 100 times. A lot of the staff knows us by face. But I've never did a proper review. We got her around 7ish on a Friday. We were told the wait would be 30/45 minutes. Ended up being 1.5 hours. Heard other parties that waited for an hour after having a reservation. Not cool. The staff was super apologetic. But waiting 2-3x times what was projected is blah. And when we were ready to leave they would keep telling us 5/10 minutes. They have been overcrowding the seats A LOT lately. Maybe our last four visits. The first time I thought it was coincidence. But it's occurred three times after. So it's usually two on each side. Maybe four front-facing. They having been squeezing 10+ and it makes for a very uncomfortable experience. The people we sat with weren't svelte and I am but have long arms and need to extend a little. I understand the economics of it but it's starting to make me consider other hibachi options occasionally. The cook was nice but not too extra. We hate that. He handled all the special veggie orders like a professional. And he used HELLA eggs when he made the rice. We love that. Maybe 6/7. The rice was well-seasoned and plentiful as always. The broccoli sautéed in soy was perfect as well. Your entree comes with noodles. Get them. They are yummy. I only eat a few bites. Still good. Try a teriyaki x sriracha mix on the noodles (and steak). I know I keep saying everything was perfect but the filet really was cooked to a perfect medium. So tender. Good portion. I'm trying not to eat it all now. The chicken chunks are usually a bit large to me. I could probably use the sauce cooked off some. It was very tender. Will taste better tomorrow. The server didn't give us anytime to eat at all. She was nice but promptly 10 minutes (if that) after the cook finished (He was still here.) she was bringing checks and boxes. (But NO RUSH.) So I just found out there was one couple rushing her (Danielle). So she just brought them all. Can't fault her for that. She is new and she really is a sweetheart. In conclusion, this is and has been the best hibachi in the city for around a decade. Miyabi just isn't it and lives off its name. As long as they are open we will frequent here. 4.5 closer to 5. Worst experience ever. Ivan the cook was intentionally rude to customers and wait staff and got half the table's order wrong. He refused to correct himself even after many people tried to help and he just blamed the waitress constantly. Manager refused to come even after repeated requests until we refused to pay our $100+ ticket when we still weren't served HIBACHI after over an hour of waiting at a table until all the rest of the guests had eaten and paid and we still had no food and a bill. Owner offered us a $3 discount and was clearly ignorant at business and complete trash with customer service. Never coming here again-do not recommend! What an embarrassment! read more

Hadn't been here in years! I used to always get the volcano roll. This time I ordered the Lunch Hibachi Shrimp. It was full of flavor and the veggies were cooked perfectly. The hibachi soup had little crunchy fried onions in it, which I thought was a nice touch that I've never experienced before. The rice tasted "clean," if that makes any sense -- my dad said it tasted like butter? Can't really put my finger on what it was, but my toddler loved it.
