Once again....we ordered from them. And once again...they have failed to deliver. We ordered what they had on their website as their "special of the day". They did not honour their advertised price. We ordered the steak hibachi medium rare....and it came out extremely well done. If we wanted shoe leather, we have plenty of shoes in our house that we could have dined on...instead on paying almost $12 for food that does not even have an iota of seasoning. No salt. No pepper. Nada. We had the same issue with them when they first opened....but decided to give them another try, because our daughter loves their Philly rolls. Guess we should have known better. Our daughter loves to eat Philly rolls.... Why Philly rolls you ask?! Because she is afraid of flavour. And lo and behold....that is the one thing that Izumi Express CAN actually deliver on!! 0 flavour!! So we paid almost $50 for a family of 4 for food that had 0 flavour and steak that was so seriously overcooked that I lost a filling! Save your money and your time. Initial thought; the first two things that I noticed, it's very clean, and the smell...it smells SO good. As soon as I cracked the door my mouth was watering and my stomach was yelling at me. While waiting I checked the restroom, and it was very clean. Something I always do at new restaurants. If you have a filthy restroom I dont expect anything else to be clean and wont eat there. This place passes :) Ok so I got home and tride the food. I love it. Its fast, it only took 20min with people having ordered in front of me! that is really awesome in my book. It is cheap enough and delicious. What more could you want from a small, japanese restaurant called express!? The Mexico roll is awesome! I decided to try it because I've never seen something like it on a menu before, I like finding the most unique thing on the menu. Its spicy and fun! The nigiri is good, no fishy smell and it tastes good. I'm very happy with this place and will definitely be stopping by often for my sushi fix ...I'm stoaked that I live right around the corner! Ordered takeout from Izumi Express, banking on the fact we've had their food and we know it to be quality. I wasn't disappointed but wasn't "wowed" so to speak. As far as accuracy, they hit the mark. Presentation was neat and streamlined. Taste was good and I appreciated the fresh ginger on the side. One can argue that I chose a dish that doesn't lend itself to the "wow factor". To that, I say touché. I don't eat or like fish but I can still manage to enjoy their food and vegetarian options. I'm not sure what I would recommend for improvement, I think I'd rather leave that up to the culinary expertise of the owner and chefs. It would be a welcomed change but thanks for providing a consistent dish in the meantime! I did not pick up the food, so I missed out on the atmosphere and customer service. Would I return? The food is great and very fresh. The service is warm and friendly and the restaurant is clean. Lunch specials are good with many options. I ordered the California roll, spicy tuna roll and the deluxe crunch roll (I typically order raw sushi but when I try a new place a don't get all raw because if you mess up the basics I can't trust you). I also ordered the hibachi chicken for my son. The price was extremely affordable and the food was pretty good. The sushi was fresh and rolled tight. The fried rice with the hibachi chicken was good but the chicken could use more seasoning. The sauce that comes with the hibachi chicken was good as well.
