Mizu is conveniently located at the top of the of the Hyatt Hotel. Upon arrival, I was escorted to a table outdoors and I immediately noticed the beautiful view. To get things started, I settled on the Elderflower French 75, it was equal parts sweet and boozy. For my meal, I had the crab fried rice and a yellowtail hand roll. The rice was okay, but it was dry and lacked flavor in my opinion. I think I would've been satisfied if there were more scallions and spices in it. The handroll was a stand out for me, and I truly enjoyed that the recipe was very different and the texture was very different! Service overall was good and I found the staff to be very friendly.
Experience was amazing - went for a work dinner and had a great time. Waiter was spectacular and really kind. Gave us a ton of recommendations. I liked some items more than others - the hand rolls were really small and harder to share. But I loved the Carolina roll with the waygu inside it was really delicious and different. I would also recommend the brussel sprouts and the crème brûlée!
I will definitely order it again, although the dumplings were delicious. The braised lamb made the whole dish. The ambiance is classy, and the staff was nice. Service was great.
This was my first time visiting Mizu and it was beautiful!! The view you get of the sunset outside makes it worth going there alone, but the food is also SO good! The firecracker shrimp specifically was amazing. This is probably one of the nicer hotel restaurants I have been to, it feels like it could be a stand alone restaurant. I will for sure be back!
Captivating rooftop views. Amazing wine & cocktail selection. Attentive service. All of this & a stellar array of inventive dishes designed to appeal to a variety of palates. I went with a group & did the chef's tasting, which did not disappoint. Japanese milk bread, sushi, nigiri, Brussels, tuna tartare--the list goes on & each dish seemingly topped the one prior. A very memorable dining experience--I'll definitely be back!
Located at the top of the hyatt in the apex area. I didnt get any food on my visit, but I had some late night drinks on the rooftop around 10pm, as they closed at 11pm The service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant is stunning. They have some non alcoholic drinks on the menu, a nice whiskey list and plenty of wines. There was a cockroach out on the patio that was a bit concerning, but I do understand we were outside--- just beware.
It's been a lil minute since I've been back to Mizu, but it's still one of my fav Charlotte spots. My fiance and I came on a special date night! It was truly a perfect night, we had a reservation for 7pm or so and the sun was setting so we were seated outside on their beautiful patio area!!! My my my, this was just so scenic and beautiful. The weather was perfect and so was my company. We're big foodies so we opted for their Osusume, which is a curated family style tour of the entire dinner menu. It's $70 per person and $5 from each meal is donated to the Boys & Girls club. Amazing. We had a time!!! There was soooooooo much food! I can't even sit here and tell you everything we had, but I HIGHLY recommend trying this. You will get so much food and get to try so much from their menu. It was exceptional!!! We really enjoyed everything and loved the variety of food. Mizu continues to impress me, even after all these years.
Had a lovely experience at Mizu inside of Hyatt Centric. I ordered the lobster fried rice and Yaki-Tori. The lobster fried rice was super yummy but I wish there would have been a tad more lobster in it for the price. They Yaki-Tori was chicken thighs on two skewers which was really flavorful. Spacious place with plenty of seating and great for a solo dinner or with company. Service was great and I was never left waiting long.
Went for queens feast and it did not disappoint. Everything was so fresh and flavorful and as someone who is GF I so appreciated all the options. The flakey skin on the salmon was perfect and the ube banana pudding dessert was so good! The starters were great I just wish they were more filling than 1 bite. Service was great as well. Excited to come back to try more (please continue offering GF desserts )
Food was excellent. Service was good. Ambiance was also good. I met a friend after work for appetizers and drinks. We both enjoyed our food and made plans to return to Mizu for dinner.
We have experience this restaurant four times, and all four times I would give it a 5!. Not an extensive sushi menu, but you know some sushi places have entirely too many selections. We have taken people with us every time. And each time, they say they will be back. Located on top of a hotel, it has a wonderful sunset view. Easy and free parking. It really reminds me I need to stop with my hesitation about restaurants in hotels. I didn't take a picture, but difinetely get the sea bass skewers!
TLDR: Great date night spot with amazing service. My boyfriend and I came on a Friday evening without a reservation and we were able to grab a high-top table in front of the kitchen with no wait. We ordered a bit of everything, and every dish was delicious, but the highlights for us were the desserts, Brussels sprouts, and grilled fish. I honestly think you can't go wrong with anything on their menu, but what really set Mizu apart was the staff's hospitality. The chefs at the counter checked in on us throughout the night and even surprised us with complimentary nigiri. Later, when we couldn't decide between two desserts, the staff brought out both and only charged us for one (a foodie's dream). To top it off, they gifted us a grilled fish entrée (!!) which ended up being the best dish of the night. We were already really full when the fish came, but we managed to finish every bite because it was SO good. Overall, we give Mizu a solid 5/5. The food alone would be reason enough to return, but the kindness and generosity of the staff truly made our date night a memorable dining experience.
My first time here and it is such a pretty restaurant overlooking South Park on the 9th Floor. Parking is validated for the restaurant if you park at the hotel. There is also a valet. If you park at the garage near Calle Sol, parking is free the first 3 hours. The restaurant has comfy booths and features a pretty outdoor patio. We came here for my birthday. Our waitress made it extra special by gifting us all a glass of champagne and some items. We ordered the crab fried rice appetizer. It didn't have alot of flavor, but was fine. You could see the small pieces of crab. Next we had the brussel sprouts and pork belly bao buns. The brussel sprouts could have been cooked a bit longer as they were still fairly chewy, but they had good flavor I especially liked the pickled ginger on them. I liked the softness of their buns and the carrot and cilantro were nice with the pork. I got the Lemon Drop sushi roll as my entree. I loved it ! Nice portion size, tasted fresh, and had great flavor. There was a lemon aoli on top that set it off. A friend got the orange duck and enjoyed it. We were served grilled pineapple which was quite good. For dessert, we had the peach & caramel cheesecake. It had good flavor and was very light. Thank you to our waitress and Mizu for making my day special !

We love Mizu -- every experience is new yet so consistent. Every meal is unique and each dish is so fresh and flavorful. Tonight was no exception. Tonight we came for our one year anniversary - the ambience was romantic and upbeat (and so moody in the best way). We came and we ATE. We are our familiars and some new ones as well -- we loved every bite. Also tonight's playlist was a bop -- we had a great time. Grilled octopus, fried rice and scallops were some of the highlights from this elegant rooftop Japanese and sushi themed cocktail bar if you will tucked 15 minutes away from downtown Charlotte that we would recommend checking out if you're in town cozy gas lamp as well when it gets cold out at night plates are thoughtfully decorated and taste wonderful! read more
Absolutely loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Definitely a place you get dressed up for. I loved the Iron Man Maki Roll. It came with spicy tuna, cucumber, pesto, and ponzu - very fresh. They have many items that are cooked on their Robata Grill. We chose the Octopus and it did not disappoint. Spicy Gyu Buns were good - almost tasted like an asian version of the Sloppy Joe. My only dislike was the prices are a bit expensive but I wouldn't have expected otherwise with a place like this. read more

The 5 course tasting menu was everything a girl could ask for in her special day. The staff chef's and bakers served all of the food and described each course with amazing details. The views from the patio and the kitchen are to die for. We will definitely be back. read more

Decided to celebrate my birthday at MIZU, and it was one of the best decisions ever very intimate setting with soft music playing in the background. They have floor to ceiling, windows and a rooftop area to see the views of the city. The servers were amazing. The food was delicious. I feel like I celebrated my birthday at the right restaurant this year. I'll definitely be back in the future. read more

We had a great time. This was our first time at Mizu. We arrived at 8:30pm so we did not have issues finding a table. We were not able to sit in the rooftop but we sat on a table along the rooftop window so we had a nice view. Our waitress was amazing! She was very knowledgeable of the food and was able to explain the different dishes. These days is hard to find knowledgeable staff. The cocktails and the food was really good. I was really happy with our choices. The restaurant is really nice and it has a good ambiance. I am planning on returning! read more

Mizu located in South Park is finally off my list of restaurants i wanted to try out. I invited the girls out on a Friday night. The ambiance was nice but I was shocked to see when we walked in the score was low rated at 91. Once seated I started with the lychee martini and it was actually to my liking. We ordered a variety of different appetizers and entrees. I will say my favorites was the BBQ Cauliflower Hamachi, Bao Buns, Sea Bass, Shrimp and Grits and last the infused pineapples. The service wasn't the best although our waiter did his best to make sure we're satisfied. We didn't receive all of our orders from some reason so the manager offered dessert for free. So while doing my research after leaving to why the score was so low. I'm appalled and dismayed. I have to be more careful of viewing the fancy ambiance verses is this establishment really clean and are the meals really being stored properly to prevent food poisoning. read more
Modern Japanese-themed with a view -- up top the Hyatt hotel, this is a well appointed space that's best described as upmarket, buzzy, and flashy... definitely the main draw for those into places that make a splash with atmosphere. Their bar is spacious and equally impressive on the eyes. Taken as a whole, this is the type of restaurant that's probably best to impress a first date, business meeting, special occasion (that requires flare), or simply convenient for those staying in house at the hotel beneath... In terms of the menu, the composed dishes are interesting but unmemorable except for being heavy on salt, but presented with showmanship. In particular, seeing as its niche is Japanese, the sushi was surprisingly below average, overthought and under-executed. The rice used for the rolls was noticeably past its prime, overly compacted (caked on?), and disproportionately heavy. Still worth noting that service was very good from start to finish. read more

The cocktails here were great, and the vibe is really cool! We did have a small miscommunication with the wait staff (two waiters told us the table we were sitting at was fine to just order drinks, but a third came up and told us we couldn't sit there unless we were ordering food). Only other complaint is that the view doesn't show any of the uptown skyline - if it hadn't been so overcast I think our view would have been better, but would be nice to see some of the buildings. Overall it was a cool spot though! read more
First of all, their steak is the whole reason we came to Charlotte in the first place. Incredible sear, not as tender as it could've been to be "wagyu filet" but still amazing nonetheless. The only thing that I don't like is when I requested sweet wine I got the most bitter and nasty things ever. Granted I know nothing about wine and they did an incredible job with everything else. I don't even know if there is such thing as a wine that is on the sweeter side to be honest because I haven't been to a restaurant yet that's gotten it right. I didn't eat on the rooftop just had room service delivered but when I did go up there it was an incredible looking place with nice lighting and a great vibe. Lovely place all in all, just doesn't seem to know the wine that well. read more

The BEST food and service. Me and my husband are very picky individuals and this place probably tops all of our fine dining experience. We love the atmosphere and the view of the sun going down. Our server was Chrissy and she honestly makes the best recommendations because all of the food and drinks that she recommended were amazing. The BRUSSELS sprout is to die for. The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection. read more

Came here for appetizer and drinks (my friend did) before dinner. Mizu staff are friendly. Pork buns are decent. There was rooftop seating but we didn't seat ourselves since it was closed. Decor and ambience typical of a bar. read more
I was here a month ago, and really enjoyed the rooftop patio dining experience...so I made reservations again, this time with my husband. Well, we got here early, around 5:30 pm...and luckily, we were able to snag a great patio dining table. As expected, my husband loved the view! The weather turned out a bit chillier and windier than expected, but it was a really nice night out. Sadly, there were a few disappointments on this night. First of all, I think the place was understaffed, and although our waiter was friendly, I felt that he had a hard time keeping up with the number of tables. Basically, there were long gaps for various service requests...and I don't even think he stopped by to check for another drink. Still, this wasn't the biggest disappointment. We ordered various items...Fire-Roasted Broccoli, "Cali Love" Maki Rolls, Chicken Katsu, Confetti Shrimp, Grilled Oysters and "Tiger Queen" Jumbo Shrimp. Also, this Coconut Ice Cream dessert. Also, I tried this Watermelon Cocktail drink, and my husband ordered a beer (as usual). Well, there was such a long delay with the Broccoli, we ended up canceling that order in place of something else. As for the foods, they all were good...though we agreed that the Chicken Katsu was the winner of the night. My husband also loved the "Cali Love" Maki Rolls and the Grilled Oysters. This is where I got disappointed. Our Maki Rolls looked nothing like the Yelp pictures (this seems to be recurring thing for me!). AGAIN, they went the frugal route and sprinkled just a small portion of Tempura flakes on the Maki Rolls. Before thinking me harsh, check other pictures of this roll, then mine! Even in the Oysters, there was significantly less egg than what I had on my first visit. Even the dessert looked nothing like the Yelp picture. The flower was missing, for one. It was MUCH smaller than what I had anticipated...and just looked like a dull, bland-looking dessert. Thankfully, it was delicious. Confetti Shrimp was over-battered. Good, but could have been better. Guess we expected the most from "Tiger Queen" Jumbo Shrimp...since "Robata-grilled"...but sadly, it was nothing extraordinary. Just 3 very pricey Jumbo Shrimp. Just like last time, I loved the Cocktail...though this one looked more modest. Overall, the portion and the presentation was lacking. Most of these items were small plates, so very tiny in portion (my husband was hungry even after leaving the restaurant!)...and I felt they were budgeting with the ornaments and toppings. Take my favorite dish of the night even... Chicken Katsu! It was a small plate of Battered Chicken (sliced into 7 pieces?) over a bed of Cabbage...for $18! Delicious, but quite simple. Whether in portion and/or presentation, everything was underwhelming (somewhat under-served?)...leaving me feeling that everything was just overpriced. For the lofty price of these tiny dishes, I just expected MORE. If not a generous portion, at least a prettier presentation. Maybe even spare a flower or use more toppings? Or maybe I'm expecting too much in the Covid era of dining?? *SIGH* Still, this restaurant has a killer rooftop scene...and I do love their menu. There are still items I'd love to try, so I'll probably return...but my expectations have dropped drastically after tonight's experience. Based on the foods for tonight, I would have rated it a 3 at most...but I'm dropping only 1 star to 4 stars because of their unique patio scene. I'm truly hoping tonight was an off night...but as things are lately around town, am thinking this stingy style is the new norm in dining. :( read more

First time here recommended by my friend, it's a roof top restaurant. I parked at the parking deck which was free! Came here for happy hour, and so glad we did. Food was so much cheaper and we were All stuffed from the happy hour menu. I honestly would recommend anything from the happy hour menu especially the oysters and the sliders. The dinner menu may be a little pricey but the vibe, the view, the food and the service were too good to say this place is not worth it! Yes I will want to come back again! read more
Recently had dinner with my friends here on Sunday to catch up. We had reservations at 6:15p. The valet guy was outside to guide us on how to get inside in which we were greeted by 2 super nice hostesses. We sat towards the back, however the ambience was beautiful. The decor is really elegant. This would def be a great date night location. We were greeted by our waitress who offered us different garnishes for our water. We ordered the crispy cauliflower, confetti shrimp and the soft shell sliders. The cauliflower was perfectly sauced. Did have a few hiccups before receiving it. First time it was cold, 2nd time basically dropped, but 3rd times the charm. The confetti shrimp wasn't my fav, it was too salty. And the soft shell sliders were amazing. Had a little kick of spice that was too spicy but not overpowering. Our waitress allowed us to try the oysters and those were definitely my favorite. The Cali love sushi roll was amazing also. I love sushi. For dessert, I got the cheesecake which wasn't bad but not something I'd get again. There were times when servers were bringing us other people's orders which made it seem unorganized, and you could tell when someone was new based on the amount of time it took for them to get back with us on simple things like ice, straws (and it wasn't busy there). But nothing that would stop me from coming back. Definitely a cute vibe and I can't wait to come back and try other items. read more
I'm amazed by the superb staff, food and cocktails this new restaurant brings to South Charlotte! My brother came to town and insisted we visit this rooftop restaurant and they didn't disappoint. We called ahead and the staff pleasantly made us a reservation over the phone. We requested to sit outside so we could enjoy the view of the city's skyline. We had already eaten dinner so we decided to have a few specialty cocktails, wine and bar bites! Our mixologist was very accommodating and entertaining. He made us a beautiful Mai Tai cocktail. He even went the extra mile to bring it to our table and explained the recipe. The restaurant manager Russell was so pleasant as well. He made sure we enjoyed the crispy cauliflower, confetti shrimp and sushi rolls. This night was so magical for us so we stayed until closing time. I'm definitely going back for dinner and bringing along my best friends. read more

This is one of my favorite new restaurants in South Park. Their roof top is beautiful and if you can snag a seat outside I highly recommend. I love their sweet and spicy shrimp and the Cali love roll! I always get the same drink - Tai Dye - and it too hits the spot. The service is always great and def recommend making a reservation when you can. read more
The views here!!! An amazing place to come for dinner , drinks and or appetizers. Definitely sit outside on the patio if you can . Such a pretty well spaced out and planned area. Comfortable and nice but still casual enough. Just loved sitting outside . Ordered a cocktail first as you do. I got the Queen City spritz, Tanqueray Seville and Chandon . Lovely and light and crisp, perfect . My friend got the watermelon Spumoni , a pretty drink too and again just perfect foe a sunny day. Food wise lots of choices. Sushi, veggie options, entrees, desserts . We tried the crispy cauliflower , black garlic bbq sauce, sesame and scallion. Not oily at all and just well cooked and not mushy. Loved the flavors. Great to share. I got the maki roll called Iron man , spicy tuna, cucumber, shiso, torched waggu, pickled Serrano and ponzu. Firstly looked too good to eat. But I did! Loved it , nice spicy rolls and not too much rice so you can taste everything else as well. Definitely recommend this one . My friend got the veggie roll called mean green, tofu, shiso, salsa verde and cucumber. Said it was good but I think mine beat it! For dessert they definitely had some different stuff. We got the fire and ice , house made eclair with mocha ice cream, togarashi sauce, chocolate crumbles, coffee chocolate sauce and a pocky stick . Looked so yum but was not as good as I hoped. The pastry was all soggy and the ice cream didn't really taste like coffee. It was just ok. We did get another drink, a lovely bubbly Rosè. Most definitely recommend this place for everything maybe try a different dessert ! Staff are supper friendly and it's a nice classy place. Glad I got to try it. read more

Mizu is my new favorite rooftop in south park! Located in the Hyatt, parking is relatively easy. The ambiance and food is amazing! This particular day we came for happy hour which starts at 4pm on Tuesday and thursdays! We ordered apps and some glasses of wine. We started with the soft shell crab sliders, confetti shrimp, prawn cocktail, grilled oysters and yakatori! All absolutely delicious! We sat outside on their beautiful patio and the bartender was nice and accommodating. Would definitely come back to try their dinner menu! read more

This is one of my favorite spots in Charlotte right now. Ive been a dozen times at least l. My most recent visit was for restaurant week. To be honest. Far from expectations.. had read about it and seemed like it had hope. Yes it's top floor of a Hotel but in Asia that works but seems not in Charlotte. The hostess at the front, the one that greeted must have been having a bad day. That's all I can say. Not welcoming. In fact ... she blocked my wife when we were leaving. Perhaps she is the owner and cares less. ( I'm not being serious on that point ) Our server was great. Food was fast (maybe too fast). I rarely complain about cost but this was simply way overboard on price to quality and portion size on the most part. I won't go into the details of various dishes and wish the restaurant owners well, but Sea Bass for $42 which was tapas size about did it. I think the place is very nice and does have hope. If the girl who thanked us on the way out had been the one who greeted us on the way in all the better. Will give it some time and try again perhaps. Me. read more
This was a perfect date night spot! Loved everything about Mizu...from the ambiance to the food to the drinks. Great cocktails, we tried the Watermelon Spumoni and Kushiro Fog (hope I got these names right). As far as the shareable plates, we ordered the crispy cauliflower (twice) so that is a must. We also tried their tiger king and drunken pineapple from the robata grill. Cali love and Mizu Dragon were excellent sushi rolls. The tuna crisp, spicy gyu buns, and salt/pepper shrimp were great as well. The service was top notch! read more

Experienced a really Wonderful ambience and food in this newly opened place located on the 9th floor of hyatt in southpark. The restaurant is beautifully setup and quickly got full through out the evening. The food was quite delicious, we loved the gyu buns and hamachi tartare which was very savory. Ordered fried potatoes and spicy papaya salad on the side after hearing everything is tapas style and was surprised to see the sides being almost full sized dishes. The papaya salad was quite spicy (which I loved) but if you can't handle it, I wouldn't order it. We also tried the mizu and cali love sushi and really enjoyed the cali one, great combo of tastiness and crunchiness. Ordered the lobster tail as well and it was truly delicious, savory and has so much flavor. It is in the small side so not quite shareable but definitely something to experience! The only thing I didn't enjoy was the white tiger cocktail drink, it had too much basil and almost gave me a headache after a sip so if it's a flavor you don't appreciate, don't get it. Otherwise the midnight train and sake was smooth and good. The service was great, highly attentive and courteous. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

It was our anniversary and our waitress Juanisha was fantastic. Not only did they comp us appetizers and dessert and prosecco for our anniversary but our entrees of black miso cod and salmon were excellent. Excellent all around from ambiance and specialty cocktails! We will return. read more

The decor is beautiful, very relaxing. Service was excellent! All the staff was very attentive. The food was yummy. I ordered the tiger king which was prawns topped with butter and mango salsa. The flavors were good but the prawns were a little fishy. I also had the Cali love roll which was delicious. I look forward to returning on day when it isn't raining so that I can sit on the rooftop area. Our waiter gave us a complementary dessert to share which was very nice. With Mizu being a new restaurant, we were expecting a few mishaps. However, not only were there zero mishaps, they exceeded our expectations. Our server Bryan took great care of us the entire evening. He was personable, attentive and knowledgeable. He's definitely our dedicated server for future visits. :) Food and drinks. The drinks are sexy and strong -- the food is unique and delicious. We had the crab wraps, bbq cauliflower, salmon, lobster, oysters, crispy potatoes and the coconut parfait for dessert. Every dish was perfection on steroids! Thanks to the manager for stopping by our table and for the complimentary bubbly and oysters. Mizu surely has the formula for success and I have no doubt they will be a staple in the Charlotte restaurant scene. Wishlist item: Rooftop patio covering. read more
