    Sushi rice bowl

It's in a hip neighborhood with quite a few new construction apartments, one rt across the street called Ellos. And, the light rail is a walkable distance. The only access problem was the parking as the parking lane is very narrow. I don't know if there's additional parking for Yama but I drive a truck so I had to back out of the parking entrance. Just drove around the corner onto a Main Street, not South Blvd, n viola there was street parking on the side, no signs for time limits. All good. It was for a late lunch with visiting friends. Atmosphere for this meetup made us stay later than we should have bc I think we stayed til around 4:30pm? Lunch service finished maybe around 2:30-2:45? Felt badly for the person at the reception but he said it was no problem. I hv bn to Yama in Waverly a couple of times n now Yama Loso. Both serve a modern twist to Asian dishes. I love traditional Japanese meals but I also enjoy twists in recipes once in a while. Spicy edamame for starters. Looked great but I can't eat spice at the moment so I can't rate it tho my friends did eat it all up. Ate the sushi rice bowl but w/o the spicy aioli sauce n asked for something else which was on the sweet side. Comforting meal, not overwhelming, just right. Edamame, cucumbers, yellow pickled daikon, tuna, salmon, avocado. A simple lunch was all I needed. Then, the hamachi neck part came grilled, not on the menu but if they hv it they'll serve it tender n juicy. Only reason I left a star out was bc of the parking. Other than that, I'd probably go there again if I'm on that side of Charlotte but for me Waverly is closest.

Great sushi spot! Everything is so fresh and there are a lot of options to choose from. Don't be shy even if you aren't a fan of sushi - there are so many tasty things on the menu for you to try instead.

Tough choices were made but everything was fantastic! Server helped make sure we understood menu and helped talking through decisions and didn't guide us wrong. I opted out of a cocktail but all of the options looked great. Pork skewers are wonderful and I'll probably get them every time.

Yama Loso was delicious! We got a lot of different appetizers and rolls to share for the table. The spicy tuna crunch was definitely a favorite, and the steak skewers were really good too. It's a little pricey, but also very high quality. I will definitely be back!

Came for a girls dinner and everything was fabulous! Calamari was so crispy and light. All of the sushi was yummy and fresh. The magic roll was my favorite. Also our server Josie was incredible! Very kind, attentive and quick service. She did a great job.

Crunchy Roll (5/5): The shrimp was nice and firm with good tempura crunch. Great blend of flavors. Loved that all the sushi came with fresh ground wasabi. Crispy Brussel Sprouts (5/5): All of the loose leaves got very crispy, but I actually liked the big chunks that weren't as crispy better. The sauce was amazing! Yellowtail Roll (4/5): Simple roll with fresh fish. A solid choice. Pork Belly Kushiyaki (4/5): Nice garlic ginger soy glaze and some char flavor. The pork belly itself was just ok though. I would've liked some more of the meaty bits. H&M Roll (2/5): WAY too much avocado. That's basically all I could taste and feel texturally. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Quality food, varied menu and great service! We came on Friday night (J4 Holiday) and sat on the patio. It was a little warm... but that was our choice to sit outside. The patio faces west, so keep that in mind if you plan on dining outside. They had an IPA on draft (which is unusual for a sushi place), so that was a good start. We started with Sea Salt Edamame ($7) and it was okay. They were a little tough to break open. My bride ordered the Yama Sushi Bowl ($25) and absolutely loved it and ate every last piece of rice. I went with the Totoro with no eel sauce ($19) and Maguro Nigiri ($10) and they were both excellent. Service from Ashley was outstanding! We will be back.

My husband and I really enjoyed our time out on a Friday night. I ordered the salmon skin roll and the lobster roll, while my husband ordered the duck entree and we shared the calamari appetizer. Everything was delicious! Our server, Nicole, was also attentive and it's a hip ambiance. I would 10/10 go again and highly recommend.

My first time at Yama LoSo was a 10/10 experience! The restaurant is nicely decorated and such a vibe. Our server Kali was attentive, knowledgeable and funny and her recs were spot on. We ordered the Ebi Shumai, Spicy Crispy Rice, Totoro roll, Waverly roll, Matcha Passionfruit Cheesecake, and the assorted Mochi. I didn't have a bite that I didn't love! The Shumai was perfectly steamed. The crispy was nicely crunchy and had a nice kick. The Totoro roll is perfect for any salmon lovers, it was fresh! The Waverly was hands down our favorite of the night, so much so that I ordered that and the Crunchy roll to go! It was spicy, crunchy and delicious. And to end the night with the Matcha cheesecake was the perfect ending. I thought the passionfruit would be too sour but it was very complimentary and not overpowering and the cake was smooth and the perfect texture. The mochi was also great! If I lived near this spot I would be there once a week because it was that good. Can't wait to go back and try more and thanks to Kali for making my first visit amazing!

Loved this part of the city where I found Yama Loso, high quality sushi with a varied menu. We went on a group of 4 and the food in the picture was enough for all of us. Their rolls are very generous and filling and above all, they taste delicious! Our personal favorite roll was the Kyuri, so good! Although not pictured, I gotta highlight their dessert menu, their green tea mochi ice cream was yummy and our friends ordered the green tea cheesecake which looked to die for!! Will return for high quality sushi in the Charlotte area.

The food was really good! We got sashimi and sushi! The service came out fast and prompt. It had a quiet and cool vibe in an up coming area in Charlotte. There is in and out door seating and reservations are encouraged.

I dined here with a large group (12 of us), and they were as accommodating as the food was delicious. I loved the upscale ambiance and warm lighting inside. I started with the Harumaki (spring rolls) and spicy edamame, both of which had incredible flavor. For my entree, I got the Niigata roll and a tuna roll. It was fresh and flavorful, and the Niigata had the perfect amount of spice. I would pass on the mocktail next time ($8 for club soda with a bit of syrup), but overall, everything was delicious, and I will be back for more high-quality sushi and top-notch service.

I came here with three friends for a birthday lunch on a Sunday, and we had a great time! We were the only table that afternoon so food came quickly. Parking in this area can be tricky, but I managed to find a spot along the street. I think you can also park in the deck nearby. I saw they valet on certain days too. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, and the staff were very friendly. I decided to try one of their lunch specials and went with a bento box. It was delicious and reasonably priced! The chicken was tender, and I loved the variety of food in the box! My friends were also happy with their choices, and we hope to come back another time! Great spot for casual lunches but also for date nights or special occasions. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is stylish, modern, and surprisingly chic , with a great location that makes it easy to add to an evening out. As first-time guests, we especially appreciated our server, who patiently walked us through the process and made sure there were no surprises. The explanation about the charge for uneaten all-you-can-eat sushi that guests want to take home was particularly helpful. Knowing the rules upfront makes all the difference and sets the right expectations from the start. The food was excellent. We worked our way through several rolls , sampled dumplings , and didn't find a miss among them. My Lycheetini was delicious, and after tasting a couple of sakes , I ended up buying a bottle to take home. Zero regrets there. Parking requires a little planning, with a paid lot nearby unless you're fortunate enough to snag a street spot right in front. Overall, I'd happily return and enjoy the entire experience all over again.

My friends really enjoy coming here on a Sunday afternoon a long weekend and chowing down. One day, I got bumped up from JV to Varsity and they allowed me to join them. The ordering style is the same as most all-you-can eat sushi places. A sheet of paper, check off what and how many of something you want, then sit back and wait. I dove straight into ordering some sushi, but my friends warmed-up with a ton of appetizers. The sushi rolls I ordered came out after about 10 minutes. The rolls looked beautiful. I was able to get 3 of the special rolls including the Rainbow roll, Dragon roll, and Charlotte roll. A couple pieces of Nigiri too and I was tapped out by the end of it. Plenty of food and it's nice to try out a plenty of different rolls. You're not getting top quality sushi. What you are getting is the freedom of entering the restaurant, and not worrying about what to order because you can simply order more. If that's what you're looking for, look no more. If you want more quality over quantity, look into other sushi places.

So his choice was here. Google directions suck they took us around the back to the parking garage for the 2nd level and since we have never been here before it took us a few minutes to figure out how to get down to the first level. When we entered there was a waiter taking an order and no one else on the floor so we had a little bit to get seated even though there were only two other parties in the restaurant. We were able to sit wherever we wanted so I sat with a view of the screen with the replay of the Brazil FIFA game on. My husband wanted the unagi don but didn't order because the price seemed high. The table next to us all ordered bowls and the serving size was huge so my husband regretted it. We order takoyaki, spicy wings, and 3 rolls Godzilla, Hadouken, and Master Roshi. The wings had amazing flavor but were not spicy. Takoyaki was flavorful and the perfect temperature. I get a lot of takoyaki that is entirely too hot and have to crack them open to cool before eating them. My husband did not enjoy the Godzilla roll he said the topping was too much and didn't add to the flavor. But enjoyed the other two. I enjoyed all three rolls the flavor was fresh and very little need for soy sauce fine without it. If we are ever in Charlotte with time to eat I would stop here again.

Great location in south end near the light rail. We had a reservation for 6:30 and were seated promptly. The restaurant is gorgeous! I was in amazement walking to my seat. We started off with the empanadas and I ordered my first virgin "pinny yolada" :). The empanadas were mind blowing! They were nice and hot, flavorful, and absolutely a delight! We were so impressed, we decided to order the double fried wings afterwards. The wings were good and had an interested flavor with the tamarind. After the wonderful appetizers, it was time for the entrees. I ordered the short rib yuca gnocchi and my friend the arroz con pollo. On paper the gnocchi sounded sublime, but in actuality it was lacking a lot. The entire dish lacked so much flavor, even with hot sauce, additional salt, and lime it tasted bland. I was very disappointed. The empanadas and service were a saving grace, I ordered two orders of empanadas to go for my family. However they were so expensive. I paid $14 for 3. Even though I loved the empanadas, I probably would not be back.

I pulled the waitress aside to check on the delay, she explained they had a sudden influx of customers but she'd ask the kitchen to move a little quicker.
