Wonderful sushi! This is a family owned business and the owners are fabulous. They are very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed their three person sushi special. We also tried a few of their specialty rolls, noodles, soup and salad. Everything was delicious. Came here for a weekend lunch with the kids. Prices were ridiculous. Everything came smothered in tare, which would suit unagi maybe but nothing we ordered. Atmosphere felt very "Modern Chinese Restaurant." Waitress was really nice and polite (she even fashioned some "Edison chopsticks" for our kids with rubberbands), but couldn't make up for the overpriced and revolting sauce-soaked sushi, tempura, and rolls. Decided to give this place a try after hearing good things about it. After trying some take out, I'm confused about those reviews. To me, the sushi is okay, nothing spectacular, and there's better in the area. I ordered a spider roll, and found lettuce in the roll, which wasn't listed on the menu; but cucumber was and it was missing from the roll. Got a spicy crunchy salmon roll, and it was just okay, not very crunchy or spicy. What was spicy was the goo that was covering the aformentioned spider roll. For some reason I am always skeptical when a new place opens in Hyde Park. If I had a nickel for every business that failed here, I could eat out every night! However, I have been pleasantly surprised by Mizu, and it has remained consistent for some time now. A sophisticated sushi experience in Hyde Park Mizu is much better than you'd expect to find in a sparsely populated area such as Hyde Park. But even judged by metropolitan standards, it stands up and then some! The decor is light and the furnishings sparse--with clean lines wherever your eye wanders. The staff is friendly, knowledge and ready to please. When asked about the prep of the hibachi dishes, dietary adjustments were offered without even specifying dietary needs. It's perfectly clear that someone at this restaurant is paying attention and eager to please. We decided to make a meal of some of the very appealing looking rolls under the sushi chef's specialties section. The rolls came as fast as we could order them and were devoured quickly with many yums. The rolls were large, filling and artistically presented. We detected a Thai influence in many of the offerings--with some interesting use of peanuts, mango and other unusual combinations. Great opportunity to get off your California roll habit and try something new. We finally had to put a stop to it due to "can't eat no more!" ;) Bonus! While not exactly cheap, the bill did not blow the budget. Highly recommended for the sushi or Asian cuisine foodie. read more

We just recently discovered this amazing place when we were looking for Japanese delivery (there's not a lot) and the delivery guy was so so nice we almost couldn't believe it. Then we ate the food and it was sooooo good! Excellent sushi and perfect clear soup ( we have been searching for a while for this somewhere close to us). I don't like to give one stars review, but this is muy third and last time I go to this sushi place. The owners are pleasant, but I go to a restaurant because of the food, and this place hasn't delivered a decent meal. The sushi is flat, without any distinction between one or the other... I haven't tried their hibachi dinners, perhaps those are good. read more

I've eaten at Mizu probably over 100 times lol. I worked here for a short time and I can tell you this place is absolutely flawless. One of the few places where you can get the freshest sushi possible. One of my favorite rolls is the blackjack roll, and I definitely recommend a bowl of miso soup! The staff is one big family, literally! Super nice and welcoming. I would also recommend making a reservation on Friday or Saturday night if your party is bigger than 4 because they do fill up! A local favorite as many CIA (culinary institute of america) students favor this restaurant and they do offer a discount if you can show your CIA student or faculty ID. read more

Sushi - C.I.A, spicy yellowtail,avocado, mango...I love the golden powder on top, it's quite tasty and light, the chefs also decor the whole dish with different colors and flowers, it looks like a piece of art. Dessert -Mango chesse cake. Not gonna lie and say I know about sushi, because I know squat. All I know is everything tasted really fresh and flavorful, and I was grow up with sea food, I know the fish is fresh or not just by a glance... Service: EXCELLENT! Tried Mizu last night for the first time. It will be our new go-to sushi spot. We've missed Japanese in H.P. since Edo left. Now we don't have to follow them around to new locations. I've eaten here twice: once for a very nice lunch and then last night for an amazing dinner. Sat at the sushi bar both times. The owner, Andy, is very friendly and welcoming. The sushi chefs are also friendly, helpful, highly skilled, AND they create stunning works of art with their sushi. Try the beef negamaki for an appetizer. The Out of Control roll melts in your mouth. The Angry Dragon is delicious, too. The menu is extensive and includes cooked options. I will be going back and bringing my friends.
