My husband and I have been regulars here for many years. We liked everything about it. To us, the popcorn is part of the whole experience. It's always been good until recently. We can't figure out what they did to it but it's awful. It's extremely dry and tasteless. Not sure what they changed but we plan on going somewhere else. read more

Brighton is kind of like Ann Arbor but not evil...it is a glorious place that makes me regret saying terrible things about the Midwest and its inhabitants for 18 straight months. I saw Sinners tonight and it healed me in ways that almost made me think about cancelling the one way flight that I have booked to Europe this week. Free popcorn on Tuesdays? You're kidding me. I love concessions and I love a bargain and this falls right smack dab in the middle of that Venn diagram. I was in and out of there for $5 and had the most entertaining evening I can recall having in the worst section of the worst state of the worst country that god invented. I recently went to MJR to watch a fun movie with my partner. While there I was greeted by the friendly cashier I have ever met; her name was Vicki! Sat thru a 2+ hour movie today with no heat. It was so cold in the theater my teeth were chattering. Sad thing was I was in a heated seat! Felt realky bad for those that didn't upgrade. read more

We went for a matinee with our Son, who's in a wheelchair. My wife bought tickets online and we sat in Row C, which was handicap accessible. Our Son went to grab more snacks during the movie and one of the concession staff hand walked his order back for him, so he didn't have to struggle. What an incredibly nice touch. The entire process from tickets to getting snacks to our comfortable seats was EASY and super convenient. Sometimes it's hard to find things that we can all do together (usually involves a lot of research) but this was a huge hit for our all of us. We absolutely recommend MJR and will be more than happy to return here as a family. Thank you for a great experience. read more

Nice movie theater just off Grand River in downtown Brighton. The theater has 20 separate movie screens that offer great site lines to the screen due to elevated/tiered seating where the seats are the newer individual powered luxury seats that give you adjustable seat angles and adjustable lower leg support. Very comfortable. The theater is clean and adorned similar to other MJR's where they have a full concession stand to include a bar that serves alcoholic drinks for adults. Contrary to some of the other reviews I have seen on this business all the staff was very pleasant and helpful and considering we had a passel of kids with us on this trip where it was like trying to herd cats I definately appreciated the staff's patience with us. One thing definately worth highlighting is the ability to rent a whole theater for a stand alone party for just $150. We were here because of this where we had all our extended family doing this event as part of a birthday celebration for one of my grandkids. What a great economical way of doing an event like this especially during these trying Covid times where you can enjoy a movie and let the kids roam around and do what kids do with no worry of bothering other paying customers or safety concerns due to the virus. Definally a big thumbs up for this event option MJR offers. Overall I was very pleased with this business and will definately be returning in the future as this theater meets all my main criteria that I look for in a good movie theater. read more

It was my autistic son's first time at the movies and of course there was something wrong with the showing. hahaha! That being said, shortly after the movie started, an employee came in to let us know that they were going to try to resolve the issue. Although the could not resolve the issue (lines on the screen for an animated movie) we still stayed to watch it because my son was so excited. A manager then came in (Robert) to very kindly explain they were unable to fix it, but that we could stay and watch the film and get free passes to another showing OR we could leave the feature and get a full refund + free passes. Everyone was so kind from the cashier, to the kids behind the counter serving popcorn and candy -- they gave us an extra bag to popcorn in for my son and when the movie was done there was an employee waiting outside the theater for us to give us the free passes versus us having to run around looking for where to get the free passes. I love going to the movies and this was such a special day to take my son. I'm grateful that we still have theaters showing movies and Brighton's MJR was a top-notch experience. The kindness of all the employees meant so much and it's not very often that you get customer service like that. I know it's hard to get help these days and although it often seems short-staffed at local theaters everyone there was patient and kind and not acting harried and stressed and/or overworked. We went to see a matinee and it wasn't busy. We purchased tickets when we arrived and there wasn't a wait. However, the concessions area was busy and short staffed. We ordered a large popcorn so that we could get a refill. We asked for a tray and cup of water. I love how big the tray is! I wish all theaters gave this tray out upon request! I went back to get a refill but they don't have a designed refills line. Plus, the employee had to walk ALL THE WAY around the popcorn station to get my refill. What an inefficient set up. It took forever and a day. If you want butter, you can add it yourself (self service station). They just hand you a bag of popcorn. It's good popcorn though. The reclining chairs are OK, but the seat is still a bit upright. read more

The theater itself was very clean and cozy, and the bathrooms were well kept. They had plenty of food and drink options.

I love the movies so much. This theater is a nice place to go. It's clean and has reclining seats. You can buy tickets online and pick seats so you don't have to worry about whether or not a show will be sold out when you get there. They have a cool option of ordering your popcorn and other snacks in the app. When you're ready to have them start your order, you indicate it in the app. This works sometimes. Maybe 50% Of the time my concession items are ready to go, 25% there is someone there and get it's started when they see me, and the other 25% there is one person at the counter and I have to wait anyway. That's really the worst of it and not that big of a deal. So grab a blanket and your favorite movie partner and head over to support your local theater! read more

MJR is our theatre of choice for a matinee or evening show. All the theatres have fantastic seating and there's not a bad seat in the place. The entire facility is up-to-date and clean. Extremely comfortable reclining chairs and restrooms nearby. Nice concession area with many choices at reasonable prices. Good value entertainment choice for date night or families. read more

First time back since covid. I watched the movie "Nobody". There were 4 people total in my movIe and a lot of space. I did order a drink and popcorn of course. I think I saw a total of 6 employees working. The theater was very empty and felt lonely. The theater and the employees are following the CDC recommendations for covid. Thank you to MJR and the employees who are working so I can be entertained and enjoy the theater experience. read more

Great movie theater with fantastic prices. Sign up for their rewards or whatever program (it's free) so you get a free popcorn with your first visit! My only complaint is you spend a little more on drinks at the bar than planned. Seats were motorized recliners and very spacious. Sound quality was perfect and not too loud. read more

Seats were comfortable but I'm very hard of hearing and I was given a broken headset so I didn't hear much of the movie. I asked if the popcorn was made fresh in-house and the girl in concessions told me yes, which was obviously a bald-faced lie. I was looking forward to some good movie theater popcorn and it tasted worse than cardboard. Just awful. I hate being lied to. I won't be going back. read more

Took my two younger kids for their second theater experience ever to see the paw patrol movie, the previews came on and the sound was BLARING loud!! It was awful! 1/2 the theater followed us out to the concession stand to inform them that this is a HUGE concern...not sure how they couldn't hear it as it was insanely loud and we had ringing in our ears and the theater we were in was next to the concessions. They ended up rectifying the issue after a while, but for a second experience for my 4yo and 5yo it definitely left a negative impression. I'm so disappointed. read more

MJR is my theater chain of choice on the east side of Michigan. I've been to a lot of them and this location falls decidedly average. While the seats seem new, in my opinion the recline angle is hard on the back and neck and the cushion for the neck is extruded farther than the rest of the chair. Making sitting in a non-reclining position pretty uncomfortable. The theater is moderately clean, bathrooms are nice and the theater is generally easy to navigate. There are computerized ticket kiosks which is nice for the tech savvy, and there are human cashier's for the analog generation. I wouldn't say I'd make a point to come to this theater. It's no dump but it's not necessarily a destination either. I'll come if the showtime fits. And if I had other MJR theaters to choose from this wouldn't be my first choice, but I wouldn't be dissatisfied if I had to come here. read more

Can I give less than one star? Used to like this theater. It was clean, comfy, decent clientele and close to home. Came to see a movie today. That didn't work out. This new pick your seats ahead of time is absolutely a ridiculous idea. I guess dropping in on a whim to see a movie is a thing you can no longer do anymore. You have to plan a week ahead. Not to mention who the heck knows what seat is what? The diagram only helps so much. Not to mention it takes twice as long in line. Tried to get tickets for two different seating times, all the seats were gone but the front row unless we wanted to split up and sit alone.... Seriously? I think this is one of the worst ideas I've seen in a long time. It's sad that theaters have made this choice. read more

Very close to home, they recently did a renovation and upgraded the seating to reclining seats with seat selection you can do online. They also added a small bar for alcoholic beverages. My only complaint would be the seating is not as late as most theaters with reserved recline seats. The seats are a bit small and tight but the tickets are also cheaper than emagine theaters. read more

Since we've been in Brighton we've come here a few times for their matinee showings. It's about$14 for two tickets and another $10 for a regular popcorn and a pop. The seats are the comfortable motorized recliner style with plenty of leg and walkway room and overall it's been a solid experience each time we've come. Service is friendly, it isn't ever mobbed (when we've come in) and patrons are courteous while the movies are showing. read more

Duuuuuude we came for infinity war and ended up with a new archenemy of our own; the soft pretzels. We had to bring them back twice, once for being hard enough to break a tooth and the second time they were hard AND cold. By the time we had all of this situated the movie was starting and we accepted that we would have been better off lighting 14.50$ on fire and saving ourselves the hassle and time. Wish I could Dr Strange us back in time to our couch and Netflix. I highly suggest bringing a female friend with a diaper bag and tons of reasonably priced snacks like we did in the before times. Went to see a movie with my family and when we went up to buy our tickets the women ringing us up was very rude! Yelling at us when we were just telling her what movie we would like to see and making it very clear to everyone she was not in a good mood and did not want to be working. When I spoke to a manager about it they didnt seem worried about it. I've been going to this movie theater for awhile now and I just couldn't believe how we were treated this time! Definitely changed my view and made my movie experience not very pleasant. read more

Not impressed. Aside from the bar, which is nice, the theatre is outdated. The staff isn't friendly at all, which was disappointing. They don't have stations for soda refills, you have to tell the associates what drink you want and then wait for refills if they are needed. Popcorn is just eh. No buckets, just bags...it just seemed shoddy. Friendlier staff would make a huge difference. Also, the ladies bathroom stalls were super duper narrow. read more

The main reason I like Emagine better is because they have reserved seating. They now feature powered reclining seats and improved sound that you can feel. I haven't seen a 3D movie since the renovation. They only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that they don't yet feature EMAX or IMAX. read more

I like going to MJR. The place is well taken care of, the concession snacks are good, and the theaters are all digital. Sometimes it can be frustrating when the middle school mafia is out, but I don't care. I turn around and tell them to shut the eff up. If you don't like kids ruining your movie, don't go when there is no school. I really like the rewards program and the auto kiosks by the door. you can buy your movie tickets way faster than at the counter. For some reason, no one seems to know that the kiosks are there. From what I can tell, the place is run well. The equipment is always working, I've never seen an "out of order" sign anywhere. Since this is the only theater around, everyone goes here. Families, old people, church groups...so it can be a little crowded during Friday nights. read more

All ticket kiosks were frozen as usual. Concession lines moved excruciatingly slow despite every register being open. A combination of slow staff and poor work flow. Allow 20-30 minutes to wait before your movie starts, as usual. Once inside the theatres are beautiful and seats are amazing read more

Avoid it, terrible ppl, technology and they kept the lights on during the movie. What a joke.

We don't go to the movies all that often, so when we do go, it is a treat and we like to have it be nice. I don't mind waiting in line for a little bit but when we go over to put butter and salt on our popcorn, it is a disgusting mess. The bathrooms always are nice and clean. I have read some reviews where the staff is rude, we have never experienced that. They sometimes act like they don't want to be there but are not rude. I have had to complain a couple of times about the young people talking and laughing during the movie. I think the prices are outrageous! If it weren't for the concession deal and the reduced ticket prices, we wouldn't be going. read more

I love this theater! It's my go to theater. I like their online pre-seat selection process. The staff are friendly. I have had a couple instances where the concession staff were very slow, but usually fine. The bar is nice to grab a drink with my hubby before shows. The seats are comfortable. Parking for handicap individuals or those with mobility issues, like my mother, is close to the building. My family and I love this theater! read more

MJR is the go to place for extended family family movie Saturdays with the Bride and her sister. Since I have no concerns about losing my man card, I usually tag along regardless of their choice (which tends to run towards chick flicks). Clean theater, clean restrooms, courteous staff (even the young kids seem well trained). Seating is comfortable as well. Never any problems with patron behavior or unruliness at all. And in a good location for grabbing a bite afterwards at a variety of restaurants. read more
