What can I say about this place? A LOT. But in the interest of not completely filling up Yelp's…read moredatabase, I'll keep it brief. The first thing that you notice when you walk into Garofalo's is how great it smells: it's like getting hit in the face with a cinder block of glorious fucking awesomeness. It smells THAT good. I love it. I really don't think there's a single thing here that isn't fantastic. I'm especially in love with their smoked ribs. The stuffed pork chops are awesome. They make all sorts of phenomenal sausages. They also sell a variety of other things: various cheeses, meats, spices, canned tomatoes, olive oil and more. The staff at Garofalo's are great as well. They're very friendly. This place is obviously in the best hands. If you're not familiar with the area, it might be a little tricky to find because it's on a weird little road. There really isn't any parking (I normally walk here from my Schenectady office anyway), so the best place is to just park in the lot around the bend behind Perreca's and Cornell's. Garofalo's is well within walking distance from there. Garofalo's accepts credit cards, but there's a minimum amount (which is $15 if I recall correctly). Be warned: If you're going there today for the smoked ribs, you're SOL. I'm pretty sure I bought them out for the day. That's how I roll.

The prices for produce are high and the organization of the aisles baffles me. This time I had a plan: a short list of specific needs from the Asian Market on Central which I hoped I could find here instead. But daikon was too expensive, a tub of peeled garlic was not in sight and I did not have the patience to search for wheat starch or Pantai brand fish sauce. All that said, it's still a four star experience. First for the experience of seeing many Muslim families shopping together on a Friday, and particularly the happy customers waiting at the busy halal butcher when their orders are delivered. Second for the depth of product which challenges the casual shopper but lets me know this would be a good source for a very specific product, like an obscure fruit or vegetable or one of the dozens of middle eastern flatbreads on offer. The labneh section alone deserves an award for brand diversity. Like it or not, I know I'll be back and am glad we have Farmer's Indian Market in our community.

If you're like me and can't live without a variety of Asian goodies like tea and crackers, your jaw is bound to drop at the sights as you walk in. Sure, the aisles are only wide enough for one person to walk through straight on, but that's a small concession for what's on offer here. Their produce section is surprisingly extensive, there's even a seafood section, and it looks like they've finally revamped the hot food next to the front entrance. The staff at checkout here are always quick and efficient, and I'm grateful they're such a decent Asian supermarket in the Capital District to complement the wonderful Kim's and Jang Tuh. They have their own parking lot and we have come close to not finding a parking space here, but there's a constant flow of people coming and going, so we've never actually not found parking.

The overall cleanliness of the store also raises some serious concern! It's really disappointing because a good Asian grocery store is hard to find in the area. When I first discovered Kim's, comparison to Jang Teo was inevitable and, as a result, I quickly decided I preferred Jang Teo. Some years later, I revisited Kim's to realise that their pricing for the most part is comparable to Jang Teo, and they tend to stock some unusual items that are hit and miss. Take the frozen bibim kit recent for, for example. I wasn't interested especially with the $5.99 price tag, but I picked it up after seeing it discounted to $3.99 albeit with reservations. It turns out I had reasons to be hesitant. The rice is too sticky for bibim and there's not nearly enough toppings. On the other hand, the frozen kimbap rolls still impress me and are clearly a hit. All in all, I'm appreciative that they're with us and I can source goodies without needing to travel hundreds of miles. Long live Kim's.

There's a small section right up front of seasonal fruit/vegetables & some items on sale. This Korean grocery store is on a busy strip of Rt. 9, not too far from Latham Traffic Circle, across from a car dealership, and shares a small lot with Tamarind Thai, a Chinese Take-out Restaurant, and a vape store. There's more parking in the back. It's a lot larger and homier than it looks on the outside. The Spring & Summer months are especially nice, they have little seedlings of starter plants on the pavement out front & a community cork board up front. There's a lot of selection of frozen mandoo (dumplings), Melona ice cream bars, fresh Kimchee, soft tofu, a small but fresh section of vegetables (chives, oyster mushrooms, napa cabbage, burdock root), LOTS of family packs of Instant Korean Ramen (Ramyun), a Back room of Korean Home Goods (decent prices, nice glass tupperware, the have THE green "Italian bath towel" scrubby mitts for $2.99! THE best exfoliation that Instagram tries to sell similar mitts for *much* more). There's aisles of snacks & candy, cooking sauces, flour & yam noodles, Korean gim/seaweed, Chili powder, Frozen seafood & rice cakes, bags of rice, dried kelp & anchovies for stock, barley & Cintron tea, banana yogurt drinks. There's other Asian products too (Thai curry paste, some Chinese & Filipino sauces). The prices are a little higher than other Asian Markets in the Capital Region, so I usually just go for specific items: Yam Noodles for a Japchae recipe, Chapaghetti black bean Instant Ramen, a seasoned Seaweed crumble topping for rice, A small pack of Chinese-Korean black bean sauce for JaJang noodles (perfect size for a solo chef, haven't seen this size portion anywhere else). Oh and Yes! You can buy a Neoguri Ramen & Chapaghetti Ramen and make some noodles like the film Parasite. ...didn't see if they had frozen beef. Not sure if it's due to the pandemic, but sometimes they're out of stock on things, so it's better to call ahead. I realized that Wal-M--t carries Shin Black Ramen now because they were always out. Overall, a really nice find and I love wandering around & looking at all the products. The staff is so kind, their friends seem to stop by often & chat in the back kitchen/fridge area. It is in a former ice cream store, and the old sign is still up for the former tenant. In fact, I was confused when I saw lots of people going in and out but none seemed to be eating ice cream. Curiosity got the best of me and I went exploring. They have their own small yellow sign hanging outside their door but the website listed doesn't seem to work. Per talks with the employees, they have been open 4-5 months. Walking around felt like going through most ethnic stores. This place was small and I gravitated towards the snack food (crackers, chips) and desserts (candy, treats) sections. It is all in Spanish but there are some helpful signs. Prices are marked but not consistently. If you are familiar with the Spanish language or Brazilian foods you should be fine. They also had staples like rice and beans, and some cooking appliances too. I saw beer coolers but never looked inside because it was pretty busy with about 10 people in a small store. They don't take credit cards and don't make that fact obvious on the door. In fact, they have a card reader but it wasn't on. They do take cash or Vimeo (I think that is what he called it). I can honestly say this is the best (and only) Brazilian supermarket I have ever been to!

We all really enjoyed our meals. Most of us ordered the three taco combo (any three tacos on the menu) and a side of rice and beans! While the tacos are very simple, they are quite tasty. The carnitas pork taco is really tasty, especially with the pickled onions! Yum!! The steak tacos had good flavor, but there was definitely grizzle to be found in them! The chicken was great! All of their tacos are served in a double soft corn taco, which helps them stay together through every bite! Overall, the tacos here are truly authentic, full of Mexican flavors, and perfect to cure any taco craving! Now, the only thing they need is a liquor license to serve some delicious margaritas to wash down the tacos!! . Service was okay. They forgot silverware, so we sat for a bit unable to eat our rice and beans (or add them to the tacos, which is what I do). They also forgot two side of rice and beans, brought one after a reminder, but the final one was never received! We all left full and happy, so that's great! We will definitely go back again! PS. They have a full menu, much more than just tacos!! **We were so hungry that I forgot to take pictures!
