    Chicken sandwich
    Hope R.

Best burger and chicken sandwich ever! The burger is cooked to perfection with two patties, small tiny cut up pickles with lettus and tomato salt and pepper double cheese! The chicken sandwich is had beautiful thick breaded chicken tenders a white cheese with avocado bacon and tomato salt and peppered on top with a delicious garlic mayo sauce! The French fries are one of a kind very thick and seasoned with a crispy crunch! They're only open morning and early afternoon so make it to mjs you won't regret it!

Works skillet. Ham, bacon, sausage, green peppers, onions, eggs, sausage gravy, hash browns, and toast.

The food was really good and reasonably priced for the portion. The coffee actually tasted like coffee unlike most breakfast restaurants. The service was decent. They were on a small wait and there was two servers and a host/helper. The restaurant and restrooms were clean and stocked.

    Club sandwich with fries.

Go, go, go! It's two miles off the highway and so worth it. We wanted good food, a friendly server, a fast turnaround. We got it! Our meal started off with monster-sized onion rings. I'm glad the two of us got the eight piece size. The club sandwich was piled high with meaty goodness and sandwiched between two thick slices of toasted bread. The chicken bbq salad was enough for lunch today, and tomorrow. We are pulling a 5th wheel and boat and the parking lot could easily accommodate us. If your rig is bigger than ours, you can park at the UHaul next door. Only downside is that they close at 2.

Bacon and cheese omelet, nice crispy potatoes and raisin toast. Yummm!

This is a great little restaurant that we fell into quite by accident. The food was great. I had a bacon and cheese omelette made with 3 eggs and lots of bacon! The service was darn near perfect...my coffee cup was never empty for longer than about 30 seconds. The prices are more than reasonable as well. In fact, we actually went back a second time two days later (which we almost never do!). If you are near Houghton Lake, you need to stop here!!!

Ask the Community - MJ's Eatery

Are there any gluten free options?

I was told no, unless I had a salad. Which I did and it was awful. They basically pre-make the salad and then put whatever protein on it. I'm not sure how many days the salad had been sitting there. Also, most everything is battered and fried.

Do they serve mimosas and bloody Mary's?

    No alcohol.

The fish was pan seared to perfection, the rib eye was cooked excellent. The CAB sauce was very good and complimented the steak and fish very well. We got the sauce on the side. Service by Kristie was excellent. You need to find this place and come here. It off the main drag, but well worth it.

I went to the Fox Den restaurant with my wife and some neighborhood friends. I ordered the prime…read morerib and my wife the spinach artichoke chicken. The prime rib was old and cold. The fat was as white as paper. The meat cold to the touch. I asked the waitress to have it warmed. When it returned it looked much better and was the right temperature and appearance. However, it was terrible. The meat tasted old and had a tinny taste to it. My wife absolutely enjoyed her chicken dish and we enjoyed out meal with friends. When I paid the bill I let the waitress know that the prime rib didn't improve and was terrible. She apologized and gave a small discount on the bill. Unfortunately, this is the second bad prime rib I have gotten at the Fox Den. I am not picky and just want consistency in a restaurant. For over $30 you have a consistent product or don't offer that item. Since you advertise it as a restaurant specialty you should really stand behind the quality a little better. Maybe offer to replace it with a fresh cut. Overall, I am sure we will go there again, just not as often. PS I commented on one of their ads on Facebook and they deleted by comment without a response. Mistakes are made, own it and improve on it.

The water did taste a little funny just to note. For appetizers, the loaded potato skins ($14.99) and wings with honey BBQ sauce ($14.99) were ordered. The potato skins were filled with Applewood bacon, sweet onions, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and melted Cheddar Jack cheese. These were very tasty. They were definitely loaded with all of the toppings. I do not recall seeing peppers, onions, and mushrooms on a potato skin before, but they did wonders with the bacon and cheese. The wings were very saucy. There were eight appropriate size wings. They could have been crispier. For an entrée, the Michigan whitefish ($26.99) was ordered. It also came with a side, and I chose the string beans, which were outstanding. They were crispy with plenty of garlic. The whitefish was seasoned with Parmesan crusted spices. The fish was of good size and cooked well. It just lacked seasoning as it needed a little more. Will I go back? Probably.

Won't be back, and I suggest you all avoid this place also…read more Restaurant So we're seated in the far corner next to the swamp, not waterfront, swamp. The walls were dirty. The windows were dirty. We had a good view of snakes and spiders and just a swamp. Service Like a lot of people are saying the wait staff here at this place is definitely rough. Not nice. Don't seem to really be too interested in customer service. That should've been the tip for us to leave right then. Food We both got the ribeye sandwich. It really should've been called a grilled cheese sandwich with grease that tastes like meat. You can see in the pictures. This is what they served us. This is what they were proud of. This is what they're saying bring the family home is their motto? For what, a greasy grilled cheese that taste like crap for $18.99 and you gotta pay $4 dollars more to get fries. We took a couple of bites and then we brought it home. And then we threw it away. Cost So here's the end of it. $18.99 for each sandwich. They weren't worth much more than five bucks. If that. Then you have to pay more for fries. And four dollars for an iced tea. I'm attaching our bill... 52 bucks plus tip out the door. Let's just say it was pretty much 52 bucks. I didn't tip much on this gig. Summary Waterfront restaurant is a swamp and not Lake Cadillac as you would expect. Customer service that is lacking for sure Food just sucks and not even worth the cost at all. They obviously don't care about keeping their restaurant clean or about serving food that customers actually like and they're proud to serve. $52 for two sandwiches and two drinks. We are locals here to Cadillac and I will never stop foot in this place again. We've been here once before and we left because we didn't even have anybody come and wait on us after we were seated. I don't know why we went back this time, but we won't be going again. I suggest all you people coming up here to enjoy the great up north don't spoil your vacation by stopping in to Burke's Waterfront.
