Portion size was outrageous! There was so much food on my plate and it was all so well prepared. I waddled out of this restaurant and needed a nap after eating here. Our waitress was so good and I never waited for coffee refills and she was prompt whenever we needed something a little extra. We stopped in midday on our way out of the area. I had the breakfast burrito and she had the BLT with onion rings. The burrito was large and tasty. The onion rings were large and crispy. The bacon on the BLT was a bit fatty. The staff was pleasant and the tables were appropriately spread out. This place is my new favorite breakfast and lunch stop. They are always packed, service is quick, and the food is excellent. The first time I went, I had the full order of french toast. It was only $4.99 and well worth it. YUM! The second trip I had the chicken wrap. It was cooked perfectly, with no tomato and extra cheese. This place also has some of the best french fries and onion rings. If you're a ranch connoisseur like myself, they have some of the best! The food was fantastic! My boys had cheeseburgers and fries. The fries were very cool, they were like potato twists. They said they were really good. My wife liked her patty melt, and I had a turkey club wrap. My wrap was toasted and it was a wonderful touch (and taste). It may seem minor, but I loved that they wrote on each box (we got take out) what each one was with a little saying (like yummy!). Not only did it save me opening each one to see which was which, it was just a way to show a little personalized on a take out order. We will come back when we take another trip to Houghton Lake! read more

Went with parents to try out because of reviews and 9&10 promo. What we had was drinks, 2 breakfast skillets and 1 fish & chips. Food was horrible, first off Pepsi was flat as hell! Skillets...ugh so nasty could not eat, sausage was so nasty and off, pre made, frozen, & cheap. All around worse skillet ever. Nothing fresh or homemade about that. The fish...nasty, watery, old frozen taste. All in all nasty food!! Customer service slow and poor with only about 10 people in the place. How this place has a high rating I will never know. People must be use to nasty food. Also to add to the poor food, the floors were nasty with trash all over. Never again! They lost potential regular local customers!!! read more

They have more than just breakfast. We went Friday night and they had a very popular fish fry. The place was constantly busy. They were fast and getting food out and turning over the tables so the wait was not long. The staff was friendly and attentive. The onion rings they have are huge! We ordered the cod and it was great- nice and hot with crisp batter and not soggy or greasy at all. The shrimp was perfect also. Our favorite part of MJ's was the server named Elise. She was more than you could ask for in a waitress. She had a bright smile the whole time and genuinely cared about her patrons. Came here on a Sunday morning around 11am. They were quite busy and we waited about 20 min for our table of 4. The waitress was very friendly and quick! The food we ordered came quickly and was quite tasty! I ordered the Fiesta Chicken Wrap with Onion rings, everything was delicious and those onion rings are made in house and were outstanding!
