MJ (the owner) gives quality, top-notch cuts, as well as all his other barbers. I've been coming here for almost a year and every haircut I have received always comes out looking great. The vibes are great here! He has big tv's in the shop to keep you entertained and he lets you decide what you want to watch if you're interested. Very good barber shop gotten two separate people each time I went and both times I was extremely happy with the cut. They pay attention to detail and cut as you ask. Many barbers take what you say with a grain of salt and end up doing it they're own way. I like that she cut my hair just like i asked and it came out excellent will be back ! I stopped coming here many years ago. Came in today to try it out again due to other spot having no opening til 9pm. Won't be back for many years again. 2 workers there cutting hair. Not one of them greeted me. I took a seat and waited for about 5 minutes. They both looked at me and still said nothing. I would expect a hello and we can get you in next it will be about xxxx minutes. I decided to step outside and call another place. While doing so another guy walked in. Was in desperate need of a barbershop because my sons hair from previous cut was a total disaster. We walked in and were seen right away by the gentleman. I don't recall his name but his chair was all the way in the far back. My son was going for a K-pop hairstyle and so we showed him a few pictures and my son was very pleased with the results. My son has very thick hair and it's super straight so it's hard for me to style it. The hairstylist was able to make my son comfortable and give him what he wanted. Everyday since, my son has been styling it that was the barber did it. He LOVES it. overall it was a good experience. I would return and would definitely recommend. read more

Update: This had been our favorite spot till today. I can say that we will be looking for a new barber shop. Our regular girl wasn't there. I figured that all the girls look like they are good at what they do. So I unfortunately told my son to let one of the other girls to let him cut hIs hair. He asked for his hair to be cut a certain way but she completely disregarded what he asked for. Most than likely it was because she was busy on her phone the whole time. I can't recommend anybody coming here, due to a variety of reasons. Quite frankly I don't even want to see the name MJ let alone remember how my experience was. Seeing that I'm not really in the mood to post a full-fledged review on every single thing that was wrong with this establishment, this'll be relatively short compared to my other reviews. The barber: Hands down probably the worst cut I've ever been given in my life. I thought the previous worst was impossible to beat, but good lord this barber went HAM and took #1 by a landslide. Congratulations on your victory. 0 conversation or connection with the barber and I'm trying my best here not to reveal sex/gender, but I guess maybe that's how it is here with walk-ins.. Experience in the field was very obviously lacking and no offense, but people with this little amount of training should not be cutting hair at a shop open to the public. The lengths were all over the place and there was no consistency in thickness nor length. Comparing this cut to a cut from a beauty school would be an insult to the beauty school. Like seriously, I didn't even ask for anything crazy. No cap it was embarrassing i got grilled by the fam the second I walked through the door, they knew instantly this was a wack cut. Price: $25 for a cut - I'll be honest, I left a $5 tip. Most places I've gone to are around $20.. so $25 is a little over the usual but it's quarantine. Spoil yourself right? It's not like you're going anywhere. But no, the overall quality was garbage. Anywhere else you go, you will get a better cut for your money. $25 itself is quite pricy for the quality of the haircut itself - this cut should've been $7 and not a single cent more. Cleanliness: The place wasn't necessarily dirty, but there was hair all over the floor. Yeah it's a barbershop but it looked like it hadn't been swept in a few hours and to make it worse, there was a literal child helping sweep up the place. No I would not recommend this place to anybody. If you really want to come here, save your money and go to one of those $7 haircut joints you'll get the same cut and possibly better no cap. Edit: I cannot believe the ridiculous, unprofessional response from the owner of this establishment - going as low as using profanity while representing a business. Shame on you sir. My boyfriend has been going there for two years now & has been a fan of their results. But today he asked for low fade. According to him there was itching 'low" or 'fade' about it. I'm sure this young boy that cut his hair meant well but seem stoned or too out of it. 3 other barbers there didn't seem to think anything wrong with a client walking out in a cap on as soon as he got hair cut. It's a shame because he was really let down with letting him walk out unhappy. The hard thing is that I didn't check my cut or beard trim until I sat down with my coworkers at lunch right next to this barber and that's when I was laughed at for the way my beard and hair cut looked like. They're honest guys. What a way to throw away some dough. I liked the fact that they take walk ins and the staff were quick to sit me down. After giving light suggestions as to what I wanted, I said the number 1 or 13 on the wall chart. I was spun around and she started cutting. I asked for a hard-part and I'm sure everyone wants to have a line to show the part. Mine looked like the great sea was parted!!!!! Is this a normal thing? I said again finger length scissor cut, sensing she didn't use scissors often I said u can use machine if you feel more comfortable because I was already there in the chair. She started up her machine and answered a phone call at the same time. She talked on the phone the entire cut and through the payment process and until I left she was on the phone. NEVER COME HERE! I came in on a Sunday morning to purchase gel. Not to receive a haircut because I would never entertain the thought of this filthy place touching my hair. Well, I came in to purchase gel because they were the only place opened. Some guy rang me up and I left. Later that day I get another charge for the same amount. THE GUY CHARGED MY CARD TWICE and I wasnt even there the 2nd time he did it! He somehow got my card info and ran it again! I waited the next few days for the transaction to get out of pending status just to give them the benefit of the doubt that they might have made a mistake. I went back today 01/31 to ask to simply refund my 21.78 they over charged me. Some pregnant girl called the owner and they said they had to call the credit card company to research the issue. I asked why they couldnt just give me my refund in cash since it was there error and with an attitude she said it wasnt her shop and theres nothing she can do about it. Now I know why places like this in run down dirt shopping centers. They are crooks trying to steal every penny they can to keep this dirty shop open. Horrible ownership and horrible employees. I will never come to this place again and will make it a point to tell everyone I know to not come here unless they want their money stolen. I'll be filing a fraud claim with my bank and will be reporting this business for unauthorized transactions on a debit card. read more

Over charging for simple hair cut $40plus you have to pay $10-20 tips. no fresh towels or laundry service , barbers use same towel all year long ,, the towel was smelling shit ,,, no sanitizing or spraying after customers , barber was wearing glove to protect himself and they do not give shit for customers so the percentage of getting illness or "corona" in this shop in my opinion is %100 , so if you are comfortable with getting diseases this is the great place and hair cut is not a rocket since anyway . its really making me feel sad that barbers take advantage of the corona situation and over charging this much im wondering if someone does not have health insurance how much doctor will charge him i guess $10k compering to barbers price right !!!!! read more

I'm new to the area and didn't feel like driving to my usual place (El Monte). I was in need of a razor fade and decided to come here. I told Romeo if he could do a mid razor fade and he did. I was very impressed with his work. I have thick hair that grows in the different directions on the sides, which can be challenging for any barber. Romeo did an outstanding job and got it right the first time. I will definitely be returning here. read more

This is my barbershop, there are many like it but this one is mine. Without.... you get the idea. A lot of female barbers so be aware of that if for some reason that isn't your thing. My personal barber Sam has left at the end of August and im hurt because it took so long to trust someone with my beard and hair. Luckily, I have seen the work that some of the women have done and it looks solid so I will be coming back as the location is convenient and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and haircuts. If you need a place outside of the Supercuts/Fantastic Sams, give this place a shot. I'm certainly glad I did 5-6 years ago. read more

Nice greeting. Nice people. But. If you are going to work in a barber shop, you need to have skills to cut all kinds of hair. My son cried when he got in the car and when I carefully inspected his hair- oh my. Shaved in places, uneven,longer hairs sticking out everywhere. Waaayyyy too short on top. He wanted to have some hair left to spike. Basically a step away from a crewcut. More training is needed for this crew. I upped this review one star because MJ the owner was kind enough to contact me right away and offer to help my son. read more

Update 8/16/16: I must commend the owner for following up with two separate apologetic emails. I didn't take him up on the offer for a free cut because it's out of the way for me, but I do appreciate the customer service and trying to make something right, an extra two stars were given to represent my average business experience over time. Original: Been here three times, first time was good (think his name was Mike, or Danny) second time was barely acceptable, had to do some trimming myself when I got home to make it even... but this time... worst haircut I've ever had :( It was supposed to be a simple cut, longer in front to spike up, little bit shorter on top and a taper down to a buzz cut on the sides. I think he/she (couldn't tell which gender :/ ) slipped with the buzzers and cut too far up! I'm being totally serious, it goes from a #3 to 1" with no transition/fade/taper. I last had my hair cut by MJ on a walk-in, and wanted to make an appointment since he did a really good job, but I found out later I had the wrong number. Nonetheless, I walked in and Carrie took me right away. She was super friendly and really took her time. She trimmed my beard and lined it up perfectly with a straight razor, taking time to pay attention to detail. Now I've got two people I'm 100% confident in! I wish they did appointments for the other barbers as well but hopefully if I walk in again I can get Carrie. read more

I've gone to MJ's a handful of times but it has been too inconsistent for me. You can't make appointments, so you get whoever is available at the time. My haicut quality usually ranges from OK to Awesome. However, it wasn't within that range this time. I wanted a haircut before my upcoming vacation and was paired up an older Asian lady (don't remember her name). She is extremely nice, but I was disappointed by the quality of the cut. The lineup was bad to nonexistent, and there were many parts where my hair was sticking up on the sides. It did not seem like a clean cut at all, even though I showed the same exact picture I show to everyone at MJ's. I even asked her to fix it a couple times. Some of the haircuts I've had there came out really good, especially from Rania. Unfortunately, due to the inconsistency, I'll be going elsewhere. read more

Ive been going here for over 2 years now. I can say with confidence that this crew is good at their jobs. All very experienced and know how to fade, taper and cut hair. We waited well over 45 minutes to get my son's hair cut. When it was my son's turn, the older bearded barber passed on him and took a father and son friend of his that walked in well after we did. Eventually, my son got his hair cut by a wonderful woman after she returned from her brake. I would not recommend this Barbershop unless you are of Middle Eastern decent. read more
