My first time here. Such a great family owned salon with a warm atmosphere. I was blown away by the size of the place. Many friendly stylists there. They were warm with their clients as well as each other. I came in very unhappy with the coloring outcomes from two previous salons. I was very discouraged thinking there was not much to be done to fix it, but Kate was amazing and I left feeling very happy. I can't say enough great things about her. This was my first visit and I'm definitely coming back again. I needed a haircut for quite awhile but was putting it off until I could find a good local stylist, I'm hopeful that this will be my new regular salon. :) Had an appointment with Kathy today, she was very sweet and took the time to really figure out what I wanted (even though I wasn't entirely sure at first). She gave me a trim and cleaned up my bangs, putting the layers back in so I had a nice no-fuss style. By the end I was really happy with the look, then she offered to do a braid for me because I have to wear my hair up for work. I said "Sure, go nuts!" and what I got was a gorgeous spiral braid! I moved to Simi Valley area 5 years ago from San Diego. It took me over a year to find M'Lords & M'lady's. Their location is unassuming so I overlooked them. I got so desperate that first year to find a good stylist that I resorted to Yelp. Duh, should have gone there first. Shannon has been my stylist. What a godsend! You will never go wrong with Shannon! She is the very best stylist I have ever had. She helped me find grow my hair long, find the best color and look young and stylish. Shannon is a wonderful person too. Whenever I needed to have a special appointment, she went out of her way to be there when I needed to have may hair done. Customer service, quality of service, and kindness is just a few of Shannon's attributes. I just moved away from Simi. Now I'm looking for a new stylist (on Yelp). I am very concerned about who touches my hair. I let it grow due to not wanting to fuss or find a new person that is reasonably priced. Alright, so I looked on this sight and noticed that this salon had major star ratings and everyone had a great experience. I called and made an appointment. I showed up and Kathy was to do my hair however she had a major color emergency pop up so I waited a little time and was about to walk out and say, no, not today when she appeared and whisked me into shampoo my hair apologizing for the wait. I told her she almost gave me an excuse to run. Well, I am so glad I didn't! She took the time to listen to what I wanted and it turned out beautiful. This salon is cheap which is good because you get a no frills haircut. I think they are the same quality as Supercuts. My haircut was fine, i have no problems with it. However, I gave low stars because afterwards she did a horrible job of styling it. My bangs were styled lopsided. Poofy on one side and flat on the other. She didn't blow dry the rest of my hair. When I asked her to, she said you can use my blow dryer right there! Then she went on to say if I blow dry your hair, it will be an extra $20 bucks. Well for the hair cut I received I gladly blow dried my own hair. read more

I'm so impressed with all of the personnel at this shop. Everyone is so very friendly! I'm always greeted by the receptionist - and she lets my hair dresser immediately know that I have arrived. Never would have gone here if I didn't win a free haircut at an auction since it's located in a small strip mall and next to a liquor store. The exterior is deceiving. Glad I found it however- I've been going to Shannon for over a year now and she has seen me through several Style and color changes- always with a little restraint and good judgement. She is very professional and I always leave happy with my hair. Her prices are every reasonable as well. I adore Shannon - she's incredibly understanding, especially with my student schedule, and is a great conversationalist. For a student discount, you really can't beat it. She's incredibly efficient, pragmatic and an all-around wonderful person and hairdresser. I'm sorry to not have met her before. The owner is incredibly kind, too - at one point, I was waiting an extended amount of time (past closing) for my ride, and she stayed behind and kept me company until I was picked up. I was in a wedding and had an appointment with Kathy; she was amazing! I had no idea what I wanted; Kathy was very patient and showed me some pictures. Once I decided what I wanted she did it beautifully!! She was great! If you have a wedding, a prom, or any event Kathy is the person to go to!! From the positive review I read about Michelle, I decided to switch salons and give her a try. Unfortunately, it was a big mistake. Not only did she not match the color I had, she made my hair darker. I specifically told her I didn't want my hair any darker. Plus, the top half of my hair is a darker color than my bottom half. I, also, think she left me under the dryer too long. I'm having a tough time removing the dye from the exposed area of my scalp. Although she has a good personality, she's not a good colorist. read more
