This is the Best Fish place on the Planet
    Kenny J.

My Nephew took me to this place and before we got there he said Uncle Let me tell you this place is so good. People this is a must stop if your ever in Counsel Bluff Iowa. Stay out of Omaha Nebraska for real I can't wait to get back to this place this Summer. I had the Alaskan Walleye Frog Legs and Okra. Awesome staff can't wait to get MO FISH MO FISH MO FISH.

Good food. Attentive and friendly service. I tried the fried catfish sandwich with fries and it was pretty good. It's mildly seasoned and there's not a ton of breading. I didn't eat much of the bun because I decided against the sandwich and the fish was good without it. We also tried the fried okra and that was good as well. The Cycling Frog "social" beverages were really good. We tried the black currant and wild cherry flavors. Both were good, but I liked black currant the best. We did feel a nice little buzz from these so something to keep in mind. This was my first visit. They have ample seating and the dining area is clean. The food and service are good - we'll be back soon.

Food is always great here. My husband and i always stopped at this restaurant everytime we visited his home town in IA.

Gluten free heaven! The fish breading is gluten free! I haven't had delicious carp or catfish in years until today! Just like I remembered! My hubby had the pork tenderloin sandwich and said it was also delicious!

Been hankering for some catfish and Mo's is always the referred when I bring up this craving. So figured why not try. Came right after opening just to see the sign on the door that they only accept cash. Went to my personal banks ATM because I'm cheap and don't wanna pay fees obviously relatable to the business lol. When we got back a few minutes later; one kid ordered his comfort chicken planks, the other tried frog legs, and I got the 1/2lb catfish. The cheese curds that my son got with the frog leg were delicious. The frog legs were a first for my kid and I tried a bite as well. Definitely not my forte; had watery after taste like fish tank in my opinion. The portion of the baked beans is a small cup just a tad larger than the cup the sauce comes out in. They were yum. The catfish that was the main point of the visit was thick and appropriate for the cost. I didn't taste much seasoning so it did end up doused in the red devil available at the table. Overall it was good. Would stop again.

Say hello to Mo at the restaurant

You have to go a bit out of town to get to Mo Fish, but it is a popular place during my lunch. Small seafood restaurant with all the trappings; e.g nets and fish traps hanging from the ceiling and signed one dollar bills tacked to the walls. Place sells a variety of fish to include catfish and perch. They also have shrimp and clams. Baskets come out with a decent portion of fish. Sides are tasty, but rather small. Service is good and the prices are reasonable. You just have to find the place which is slightly off the beaten trail. Kind of sits by itself in an area that you would not normally look.

A family friendly place to get some good fish. I especially want to highlight the fried pickle FRIES! (As in yummy). The service is friendly and accommodating. Just a great place for lunch fish any day and Friday Lent season.

They definitely have/had some pretty high prices compared to other eateries in the area. I'm not sure if that is caused by cost of goods or location or what, but I think that did come into play when a lot of economic hardship is happening all over. Like I mentioned above, I DID like their food, but it definitely had to be a special occasion type of thing, due to the high prices. When we did go, I LOVED the Maryland Crab Dip. It reminded me of my favorite crab dip in the world, at the SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta. We also had the Green Bean Almandine that was on special last time we went and that was pretty good, but you have to be a green bean fan, for sure. I decided to try the sushi as my main dish last time, and had the Everything Crunch Maki, which consisted of cooked salmon, jalapeño, and cream cheese. It was pretty good, and had a little hint of spice to it from the jalapeño, which cut the heavy cream aspect. My husband had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon for his entree, and gave me a few bites. It was cooked well and the mushroom risotto below it was very flavorful and filling. The cute nautical ambiance and excellent service were always appreciated, so no complaints there either. I think if they had been in a different area with less expensive rent and cost of goods, I may have visited more often.

This spot was right by the hotel in Old Market, and we were early enough to get right in and grab a nice table (during happy hour, no less). The vibes are clean, nautical without being cheesy, and bright. The service was equally bright and helpful, and everything was flowing. On a super hot day, I had a Tom Collin's that was great and refreshing. Our group shared calamari with a top tier dipping sauce, an "aji verde" sauce that was new to me but I would buy it by the pint. We also shared their truffle fries and the side of mustard aioli was great as well. Best fries in a while. For my main, I got the blackened Mississippi catfish that was served over dirty rice, green beans, tomatoes, and a crawfish beurre blanc. It was as good as it sounds, I ate every bite on the plate. Okay, so let's recap: Amazing location? Check. Great service? Check. Good specials/happy hour? Check. Great food? Major check. Hard to top, I'll go here everytime I'm in the area and it was hard not to go back twice.

Most importantly, the quality of the food consistently shines through. My wife and I ordered the Deep South Risotto, a delicious combination of fresh shrimp, Andouille sausage, and green beans tossed in a spicy, creamy risotto. We also enjoyed the Teriyaki Salmon Bowl, featuring perfectly cooked teriyaki-glazed salmon served over a blend of brown rice and red quinoa with tender sautéed broccoli. Paired with Shuck's famously ice-cold draft beer, these excellent entrées made for the perfect lunch before heading over to Big Ten Baseball at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. Dedicated parking allows for easy access. Imagine my surprise, arriving early to help with event set up and discussing the layouts of the room I encountered an exceptionally cranky and dismissive person. It was made crystal clear to me that we could not move a table four feet to allow for registration of the door to the private room. I was even more surprised when I found out that this person was one of the owners! A couple of employees that overheard the conversation confided that this is typical behavior and they don't really pay much attention to it. I have news, I don't get paid to be there, I pay to be there. Shortly thereafter this fun chat, I had the opportunity to meet the manager, who indicated that if they had known that the room was going to be used for the type of event we had that they never would've let it be used, even though it was a slow day in the middle of the week. WOW! Fortunately, two of the wait staff were exceptionally helpful and made great suggestions that helped us to facilitate an event that required some flexibility. Honestly, if it hadn't been for the two folks helping us out in the room, I don't know how we would've made it through the evening - very stressful. The pizzas were typical and basic ones were reasonably priced, as were hors d'oeuvres. Soft drinks were rather expensive at $3.50/person. Overall, my takeaway is that I will never, ever bring my business to this operation again until there is a change of management and ownership. I think it's time for a change.

I had the Cubano sandwich, which was good overall, especially the smoky meat, but I think the coarse-ground mustard overpowered the flavours a bit and dulled the smokiness a bit. A plain yellow mustard might balance the sandwich better and let the smokiness shine through more. The sweet potato fries, however, were excellent. My wife Laura ordered Emily's Salad, which was pleasant and fresh, though we both thought it could have benefited from a little crunch--maybe some seeds or nuts added in. Our daughter Alex had the birria tacos and carne asada fries. The tacos were tasty, though a little on the small side, but the carne asada fries were fantastic. Umai! (I am a Rengoku fan; if you know, you know.) I highly recommend it. Our other daughter, Sam, ordered the birria grilled cheese and elote fries, and both were really good. Her cherryade was especially refreshing. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, though the dining area and patio felt a bit bare. A few plants outside and inside would really warm the place up and give it more character. The music was pretty good with indie hits in there. I also tried the Old Fashioned. It was definitely strong, which I appreciated, but it felt like it was missing a touch of sweetness or something to round it out. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, and I'd absolutely go back and try more on the menu. Their waitstaff was top-notch and really were on their game. The restaurant has good ingredients and solid ideas--it just feels like a few flavour balances could be dialed in a little more.
