Decided to stop in for a quick lunch on a Monday. I've been here once before, but it was quite a while ago, so I didn't really remember the quality of the food. We were seated right away, and it was a perfect day to sit outside. The hostess let us know they had workers outside, but we were totally okay with the noise, which ended up being very minimal. We didn't order any drinks, but for food, I decided to try the birria grilled cheese, which comes with one side, and I chose fries. Not only did it look so appetizing, but it tasted AMAZING. The bread had some sort of seasoning on it that added so much flavor to the sandwich. The fries were seasoned exceptionally well too. I'll definitely be back sometime soon to try more items. We took the family to 712 Eat + Drink for lunch and overall had a good experience. The food had a lot of promise, though a few dishes felt like they were just slightly off from being great. I had the Cubano sandwich, which was good overall, especially the smoky meat, but I think the coarse-ground mustard overpowered the flavours a bit and dulled the smokiness a bit. A plain yellow mustard might balance the sandwich better and let the smokiness shine through more. The sweet potato fries, however, were excellent. My wife Laura ordered Emily's Salad, which was pleasant and fresh, though we both thought it could have benefited from a little crunch--maybe some seeds or nuts added in. Our daughter Alex had the birria tacos and carne asada fries. The tacos were tasty, though a little on the small side, but the carne asada fries were fantastic. Umai! (I am a Rengoku fan; if you know, you know.) I highly recommend it. Our other daughter, Sam, ordered the birria grilled cheese and elote fries, and both were really good. Her cherryade was especially refreshing. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, though the dining area and patio felt a bit bare. A few plants outside and inside would really warm the place up and give it more character. The music was pretty good with indie hits in there. I also tried the Old Fashioned. It was definitely strong, which I appreciated, but it felt like it was missing a touch of sweetness or something to round it out. TLDR: Great food, quick and kind service and a nice environment. I went to 712 with a friend on a Friday night (around 5p). I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't super busy. The pace did start picking up around 6:30. The food was great! If you're considering getting appetizers, one is more than enough to share. I loved the cost to serving size ratio on everything we got. The food was wonderful! Depths to the flavors in all the meals. The server had a genuinely hard time picking the best thing on the menu, which I took as a good sign. After trying the salmon salad, the elote fries, and the fried pickles, I can see why. Word of caution: You will be tempted to eat all of the fries and pickles before your meal comes out. Next time, I would see if the appetizers and the entree could come out at the same time so I can eat more of the main entree. read more

I honestly think you can't go wrong with the 712. We have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got the chance. It's a very "now" kind of place, great decor, very clean and bright! Our waitress Ally was amazing , she had great recommendations for us and we tried a few of them. The "elote fries" are to die for. I had "that chicken sandwich " which was amazing. She had "Emily's salad" which is a fusion beet salad. We both had their nights special of the brisket mushroom soup. Soooo good!! We arrived here for dinner while on vacation. 3 adults and 3 children (one being an infant). They let us know there would be a wait, and obviously hindsight, should've left at this point. They told us that they could seat us on outdoor patio. They offered to be able to bring out an umbrella to help with the heat. We got seated and then the strikes started. 1. The umbrella never came and we were sat in the sun. Promise something, do it. 2. Patio seating in summer needs iced water refilled constantly. Only after noticing water glasses empty a few times did we ever get a pitcher. Yet ice didn't exist. 3. New bartender was making drinks and consistency is key. One drink was pink with strawberry and the other was cream color. 4. Elote fries were just fries with corn and a bit of cheese. Definitely not worth it and fail at Elote fries. The good: crab Rangoon fries were marvelous, crab Rangoon pizza was also great. Mac and cheese for my girls was white sauce and fantastic. Flat bread overall was good. Crisp crusts and good spices. It's not the greatest view, as it's in a shopping center and close to a semi-busy road. Service was good, not great. It took a bit to get someone to take our order but once the waiter came, he was attentive and quick. I went to 712 with two friends and my toddler, and we had a wonderful time! I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta for myself and the pepperoni flatbread with fries for my daughter. We really enjoyed our food! The pasta was definitely spicy, but I couldn't stop eating it- it was so good! We had a great experience at 712 Eat + Drink. We came on a weeknight about an hour or so before close. Got sat immediately and the waitress was very accommodating as we had our baby and let us order her food first. Got the kids Alfredo which was a big portion and very good not just some bagged Alfredo. Big hit. I got the Cuban sandwich with the side salad. It was a very good Cuban one of the better ones I've had in a while. The side salad was tasty as well really enjoyed the house made vinaigrette that had a great sweet but not too sweet taste. My sister and I went there for lunch. The food was incredible. First, the menu is so tempting. We wanted to order everything. We settled with crab Rangoon tots, elote fries, the artichoke flat bread and a sandwich. The sandwich was just ok in the first few bites. Turns out all the flavor items had shifted to the side of the bread. Once we rejigged the toppings it was super flavorful. The Rangoon tots were by far our favorite with the elote in a close second. We were invited to a free event at the restaurant, and we were excited to try their delicious looking menu. I found a lot I wanted to try but opted for the special (steak with lobster mac). The lobster mac was very good and flavorful. I'm not a huge lobster fan so I would definitely eat the mac-n-cheese by itself next time. I requested my steak to be cooked medium but it was cooked well done. That ruined the flavor of the steak for me unfortunately. I was a party of one. Hostess forgot to mention me to one of the servers, but that can happen anywhere. Waitress was super nice and open, and was ready to go and take my order. Today I tried the Peach and Prosciutto flatbread, gluten free version. Flat out fantastic! Their GF crust surpasses anything I've had since going GF. Topped with a goat cheese spread, pickled peaches, fresh figs, fontina cheese, arugula and Prosciutto finished with just enough hot honey to tingle your tongue. You can't really taste the pickle and you miss that crunch and vinegar hit I would expect. Lots of oil. I would recommend these to folks that aren't big pickle fans. The ranch here is delicious! I got the veggie burger with fries. Fries were delicious and salty and perfect with their ranch. The veggie patty itself was performed and seamed store bought. We came in with a huge group that took up most of the restaurant and were able to all be seated at once. An entire baseball team, parents, and families. Service was great and we were all able to make it back in time for our next game (Slumpbuster baseball tournament). Food was well loved all around. My kiddos had wings and flatbread pizza. I too had the gluten free margarita flatbread pizza which was more tasty than most GF stuff I eat. We would definitely eat here again if we were in the area. Great staff and friendly attentive service. My only ding was the bartender tried to pull off pouring my margarita with salt on the rim over the salt into a non-salted glass. We stopped into 712 Eat + Drink after a movie in Council Bluffs on a rainy day. It is in a sort of "strip mall" area, but doesn't feel like a strip mall restaurant at all. There is a nice patio outside and an inviting feel to the atmosphere when you walk in. The design of the restaurant is a little boxy, with it being one large open room with industrial, open high ceilings. The walls are dark and there is a large group table when you enter, and some smaller tables around the rest of the interior. There is a cute Council Bluffs mural all along one side of the restaurant though and that brightened up the vibe a lot. There is a bar at the far end of the restaurant, and that has a really cool, large "712" wooden sign above it which I really liked. We were there a little under one hour before they closed (we knew we wouldn't be there longer than 30 minutes, as we were hungry and can eat fast). Even with being latecomers, the hostess who seated us and our server were not in a hurry or trying to rush us at all. Our server was Devon, and he was super pleasant, helping my husband choose between a few options he was considering. Also, our table was a little wobbly when we sat down, and he made sure to grab a few coasters to fix it for us. For a starter, we ordered the Elote Fries. They were very tasty, consisting of semi-crispy fries with roasted corn, house-made tajin aioli, cotija cheese, and jalapeños. It's a HUGE serving too, so this can be shared with 2-3 people, for sure. My husband ordered the steak and potato flatbread, which came with steak, bits of roasted potatoes, a melted garlicky cheese spread on top, and a few sprigs of arugula. My husband is not a huge fan of garlic, but I absolutely am, so I definitely took a few of his flatbread slices. I had the Korean Stir Fry with Chicken, which had sweet potato glass (clear) noodles, lots of veggies, diced chicken, and cashews and sesame seeds. It was a delightful, sweet dish with some savory elements to balance everything out. It also was a huge portion so my husband had a bit of mine to trade for the flatbread I took of his :-P We finished up with plenty of time to spare before closing, and as we were paying our check, Devon even gave us a to-go cup of my soda refill for the road. I have eaten here several times and they had a new menu which included Halibut so I gave it a try the fish was so over cooked it cut like chicken the flavor was very good. Our waitress said she wanted to try it later so let her know how it was after dinner she asked me about the halibut and I told her that it was severely overcooked but it'd be good otherwise. Hmmm. I am generally a huge fan of this restaurant which would score between four and five stars. Today's experience was a little different. We made a reservation and arrived on time. Seems that they could not find a reservation and once they finally found it, we were seated at a high top table that was dirty and unsteady. A person came to our table that we were not sure if they were our server as they never introduced themselves. We clarified who was our server, made our drink selection, and went from there. We each ordered a starter and an entrée. Our starter arrived. However, we did not have any cutlery. We finally ended up having to go into the restaurant from our outdoor seating area to get our own cutlery off a table after requesting our server twice. The restaurant was generally busy, but many of the staff seem to be standing around, chatting with unbussed and or dirty tables. This is normally a restaurant with a clean, modern vibe but not today. Having only just begun with our starter, we were informed our entrée it would be out immediately. We informed our server that we did not want our entrée as we were just beginning our starter. It followed immediately, regardless. The special crab soup was excellent, the beet salad was good as ever, the stirfry was over spiced, and the beef rib was spot on. Once we were just about finished with our entrées our plates were quickly removed, and we were asked if we wanted dessert. Would like to point out at this time that the outside was empty with the exception of two tables, and there were plenty of empty tables inside and not entirely sure why we were being rushed. Our server recited the dessert menu, and we went ahead and ordered our deserts to go. Our server, then returned to inform us that they were out of what we had selected. At that point we gave up. I would normally rank this is an excellent restaurant, however, there has to be more attention to service. Minimally, coach your staff, wash your tables and provide cutlery to your customers. Hope it is better next time as I would give it one more chance. read more

This is such a great casual spot with elevated food/drinks! Our service was quick and easy, and the flavors were very good. I had the Lavender cocktail and this is officially my favorite in the Omaha area!! I highly recommend trying it if you like fresh/sweet vodka cocktails like I do. We had the crispy Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and those were great. I had the blackened chicken as an entree and it was good. Lots of spices used on the chicken to give it a ton of flavor. The bun was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just how I like it. My wife had the seafood pasta and she liked it. Very filling and a large portion of it.
