When I brought it back, I was charged an additional $60 to fix what should have already been resolved. What's most frustrating is that I couldn't get a clear explanation as to why I was being charged again for the same issue. If a repair doesn't hold up after a week, that should fall under some kind of workmanship guarantee--not an additional charge. I want to continue supporting this business because I've had good experiences in the past, but this situation felt unfair and left me questioning the quality and accountability of the repairs.

I was checking on Yelp the next day for mobile phone repair in the area and found a few. Applemeister had the best reviews, so I started reading through them. Someone mentioned that they have a Groupon, so I bought it, and then realized it's the same price as when you walk in, so at least you're still getting a deal! The other 2 places locally that replace screens were $10 more. They don't open until 10:30am, but if you work/live close by, it's not an issue. I headed up that way and got there a little after 10:30. Robert wasn't there yet, so the guy who works at the souvenir shop (Applemeister is in the back end of the souvenir shop) called him, explained my situation and was able to take my phone and information and told me to come back at 4pm. Around 2pm Robert called me to make sure of the color screen I wanted (since my phone had an after-market white screen on it instead of the standard black - thankfully he had one white one in stock) and said it would be done in about 20-30 minutes. I had a long work day, so couldn't pick it up until 4pm. When I arrived, my phone looked fantastic! Great customer service by Robert, fast repairs, convenient location and priced well. I also bought a tempered glass screen in addition because I'm clumsy and this will hopefully prevent another broken screen! Located in Westlake, once you get to the front door of the building it's a short easy walk up upstairs and it's the first office on the right. I signed in, he told me a few housekeeping things to be mindful of after the phone gets repaired. I dropped off the phone and it took no longer than 15 minutes. The screen worked great! I was visiting California from the UK and due to the inefficiency of my mobile provider my Iphone 3GS had not been unlocked. I was recommended Mobile Kangaroo by one of the guys at T-Mobile (in the Westfield Mall Union Sq), I took it along there and and they unlocked it for me, i had to leave it over night but it was ready for me the next day. On my return to England, the phone malfunctioned (it "bricked", stuck on the "plug into Itunes screen"). I e-mailed Mob Kang and within a few hours had a reply from them saying they were sure they could sort it (keep in mind I am now in the UK and there is an 8 hours time difference). A gentleman by the name of Joseph (the owner I believe) contacted me and asked if I had Skype and Logmein, fortunately I did, we arranged to make contact the following day. The next day Joseph messaged me on Skype and then logged onto my computer, thoughout the process he kept me updated on Skype, on this occasion I lost my connection fortunetaly everything Joseph required was already on my machine. The next evening he contacted me again and proceeded to sort the phone out, it took a few attempts but we got there in the end (the process that was used failed initially but worked the second time, the nice thing was that Joseph had said that if this faied again he was able to write custom Firmware to remedy the error, he has some serious skills!). As I said, through-out the process Joseph kept in contact and informed me what was going on, in all he gave up approx 4 hours of his time to deal with this and this was all free of charge. Awesome service, can not recommend this place enough especially as the customer service, even whilst 6000 miles away was incredible. read more

I stepped in and waited my turn and even though Mr. Harkey was busy with another customer, he took a few minutes while he was working on something else.... and quickly solved the problem I was experiencing. I went in after the Apple store told me they'd do nothing to help me get a backup, and the best they could do was replace my phone with a new one for $600+, without any of my data. Anthony immediately gave me advice about how to attempt a backup, and walked me through getting an iCloud setup and attempting a backup. Unfortunately, the phone didn't stay on for long enough for the backup to complete. So he took it and removed all the water, then did a backup before attempting ANY other repairs as I had told him the most important thing was my data (I didn't ask him to do this - he just listened and understood what my priorities were). Then Anthony tested the phone fully and told me what other repairs would be required. All in all, fixed my phone back to perfect working order for much less than the cost Apple were going to charge, PLUS they saved all my data. Sweet Memory were reliable, quick to answer questions, and regularly gave me updates on exactly how it was going. Phone problems really ruin your week, but they made it much less painful.
