I wish I remembered the guys name who was working there, phenomenal dude who was incredibly polite. My new MacBook Air just cut randomly cut off right before the holidays! I did all the troubleshooting tips I could find online and none of them seemed to work. All of the time slots at the Genius bar were filled up, so I found myself taking a trip to the City. I was quoted a 2-3 hours for the diagnostic to finish, ended up getting a text within 30 minutes saying my laptop was finished. I really need my computer to work from home right now and since Apple stores are closed, I opted to head to Mobile Kangaroo for a display issue on my MacBook Air. They told me that the repair would cost $559 and not be covered under my first year warranty due to a tiny chip in the casing of the computer. I found that price so steep and I was really upset, so I mailed my computer into Apple and they covered everything free of charge. From the time I started the repair with Apple chat to the time I got my computer back was only a 36 hour window, even with mailing time. It's disappointing that lots of people are probably turning to these people, especially during the Covid-19 crisis. Apple is known for overcharging, but this place tried to rob me of nearly $600. Will definitely go to Apple over Mobile Kangaroo and suggest you do the same. read more

After booking an appointment through the main apple support website, their website states they will send an email form for their COVID-19 process. Never sent anything out. Requested a form or email from them multiple times (through the Mobile Kangaroo website) before my appointment. Never received a single thing. Day of my appointment comes around - nothing. I know times are interesting right now, but if you are going to offer a service, you need to be held accountable (especially with confirmed appointments). Better than the Apple Genius Bar. An authorized place, so same warranty repairs, etc. But no line, no waiting, instant service, friendly staff, and they remedied user error. I went to them for Apple Care service on a 2018 MacBook Pro with a screen problem, and, then, a logic board replacement. No fuss. I told them I'd write this review. They earned spontaneous praise. I've had Macs since 1985, with a break from 1992 to 2001 when I was a Windows user. I have had multiple Macs in under Apple Care: battery; fans; logic board; and so on. This store is reportedly an Apple Authorized support store, handling overflow cases when the regular Apple stores are not able to. During this Coronavirus shutdown of the Apple stores, I went to their S.F. store after making an online appointment (only way they currently can see customers). The woman handling my problem with me computer was very nice &, after running a computer program to see if any problems, gave me various options to fix my problem. I choose to do it with assistance of Apple online support & the problem is now fixed. On the negative side, if I left my computer with this store, I think my computer may not have been fixed the way I would have liked, due to recommendation to poss erase my HD in order to use Time Machine program (not needed!). I am glad I used her recommendation to complete repair with authorized Apple Support, made all the difference in successful repair! read more

I was hesitant to go to a non-Apple facility but I was so wrong -- I'd rather go here than the Genius Bar. I worked with Perica, Louie, and Ted, and all three of them exemplified what IT professionals should be. All of them were kind, knowledgable, and patient, even when I was feeling frustrated. As a software engineer, something that was lovely was that they were transparent in their technical troubleshooting. They never assumed my background but also trusted that I was knowledgable -- I never felt talked down to. They fixed my issue within a few days and were very communicative throughout the entire process. Really incredible folks -- I would not hesitate to get my repairs done here again. read more

I went into Mobile Kangaroo 5 months ago to have my logic board replaced on a MacBook Pro and was charged $650. My computer crashed again, and I brought it into Apple this time. They claimed it's my logic board that needs replacement and that they could do this for $515. When I called Mobile Kangaroo (I spoke with Terry) she said there is nothing they can do. When I asked about the price difference, she said "we're not Apple, we can charge whatever we want." When I expressed my frustration about being sold a cheaper product for higher price, she responded "it is what it is." In summary, if you go here you'll get same-day service instead of having to wait a week to go to the Genius Bar. BUT, you'll pay a much higher price for a product that will just go out on you in 5 months. read more

I have a 3 month old MacBook Pro 14" that went completely dead on me. I called the AppleCare, they recommended me to bring it to Mobile Kangaroo and set me up with a next day appointment. They did a full testing on the unit and ordered the needed hardware parts under AppleCare warranty all within 24 hours. It was fully repaired 3 days after and ready to be picked up. These gents are the very best. A year ago they refurbished a much older computer so I could give it to my daughter who had lost everything in a devastating fire. This time it was my 6 month old laptop that suddenly wouldn't take a charge. I spent a TOTALLY wasted hour with apple support. They did however get me an appointment with Mobile Kangaroo. These guys are very professional and trustworthy with repairing newer (2018) MacBook Pro's. I was in town for a conference and inadvertently cracked my MacBook screen. I have AppleCare and called Apple about a repair. The Apple rep said they couldn't get me in until the next day and that it would need to be shipped out for a fix and that I'd be without my MacBook for 3-5 business days. Unfortunately that wouldn't work for me as I depend on my laptop for work. I then checked here on yelp and found these guys. Called and spoke to a very nice rep who was understanding of my situation. It was Wednesday and I needed to leave town on Thursday afternoon. The Mobile Kangaroo rep was reassuring and conveyed that if I arrived before 2PM they would do their best to have it ready by 5PM next day (as they can usually get parts sent next day if ordered early enough). What I like about this business is they are an Apple certified repair facility and so everything is done onsite. This means there's no shipping my laptop anywhere. There was one potential issue but Mobile Kangaroo addressed it as well. Because they were dependent on receiving the part, unfortunately they couldn't guarantee" it would be ready the next day. However, because I needed to leave the next day, I asked them if they would be willing to ship the laptop to me in case it wasn't ready. They said yes. Of course I would need to pay for the shipping and I was fine with that. Clearly they care about their customers! At 1 PM the next day, I receive a call from them that my laptop is ready for pick up. I go to the store and see my laptop with the original Apple plastic that comes with it as well as the plastic covering the Apple logo. This was clearly a new part. Needless to write, these guys are professional, courteous, and reliable. I would absolutely use Mobile Kangaroo anytime to fix a MacBook or any other Apple product that I own. In fact, I will now go to them before the Apple Store because the Apple store is always so busy. Just want to say "thank you" to the Mobile kangaroo team for helping me when I was in a bind! The best aspect here is that I was able to make an appointment with a 'genius bar' the next day. I have an older--2012--MacBook Air and managed to freeze the Trash bin from emptying. This caused some problems with my Time Machine back up, phone back up/update...on and on. I went in, staff was friendly but when I asked about the trash bin I was told I had to have (?root) program reinstalled for $149. I asked what else could be causing problems and got no help. While he (no name tags here) was looking up my warranty, I shut it down (instead of restarting) and it cleared the trash. I was so happy that I went to the FiDi Apple store and bought a iPhone XS Max. I would probably come back here for something liked a cracked screen, but not for anything software related. read more

i had problems with my MacBookAir, which Apple seemed very interested in helping me resolve! They referred me to Mobile Kangaroo, who said Apple was not helpful at all. Ted from the Bay Street Mobile Kangaroo office in SF went out of his way to solve the problem that Apple was "interested" in helping me resolve (although Apple's 7 tech support people -- 3 different subsupervisors and and 4 supervisors three of whom hung up on me, none offering anything helpful or problem-solving, one of whom was quite rude -- did nothing at all but waste their time and mine having me repeat the list of problems, and complaints. Ted problem-solved, fixed the problems, taking extra time to make sure my computer was restored to working condition, didn't just tell me to buy a new computer, hand-delivered my fixed computer (not even a dream with Apple tech support!) , and was cordial despite working several hours after his business closed. He provided service that was helpful, considerate, prompt, and effective, as opposed to the double-speak that Apple offered on their own programming and complaints and tech staff problems. This was the first time using AppleCare with a non-Apple store. I had contacted a different place that told me it would be 3-4 weeks for them to prepare after I went in person because they didn't answer their phones. I stumbled across Mobile Kangaroo. They answered the phone and told me it would be 3-4 days to fix. When I went in person, I was told the same things. Their COVID-19 protocols were great. They were friendly and professional. My Macbook was fixed in 3 days; I dropped it off Monday morning and it was ready Wednesday afternoon. When I came to pick up, they had me log in to make sure all was fixed with my device. The Mobile Kangaroo in Walnut Creek was the facility that I used. They fixed my iPhone cracked screen in about 30 minutes. I am sooo happy that was the only thing wrong with my phone. I cracked the phone on Friday and looked furiously for an appointment and luckily was able to get one for Monday. They were easy to find and like I said earlier fixed my phone in under an hour. I'm very disappointed with the service I received here and do not recommend going here for your computer. For background, I took my MacBook Air in for fan issues a couple of weeks ago. 1. They were not honest about the costs. I was told the $65 diagnosis fee would go towards the repair. Should my computer need a fan replacement the total would be $129. I specifically asked if the $65 would go towards the $129 and was told yes. However, I was later quoted $200 for the fan replacement. 2. During diagnosis mobile kangaroo found missing screws. The last time I had the computer serviced was at the Genius Bar, but that is a different review. A friend familiar with apple repairs offered to help me replace the fan and when we opened the computer not only did we find missing screws but we also found a couple of LOOSE screws wedged between chips on the logic board. This could have caused my computer to short circuit. I get that it is not their fault, but for $65 they should have had the decency to remove the screws (literally 2 seconds) and give them to me separately when I picked up the computer. 3. I have had good service from TecnoUno in the past. I am currently talking to Ron from Computer Repair in San Carlos and he told me the fan itself is $25 (much less than what mobile kangaroo told me) and the total is less than half of what mobile kangaroo wanted to charge. There are far better, more ethical places to repair your devices. Don't be fooled by the "Apple Authorized" marketing because clearly not even Apple's genius bar can reassemble a logic board properly. read more

After repeated tries to schedule a battery replacement for my Macbook through the Apple website (the scheduler was not even viewable for many days, still down as of today), I got in touch with Mobile Kangaroo through Yelp. They usually have parts in stock, and I was able to message them that morning, drop off my Mac, and it was ready in less than a half hour, which was spent pleasantly with a walk down to the waterfront nearby. The home button on my gf's iPhone3g would only work if you pressed it really hard and would usually take 3-5 presses to get it to actually respond. Super annoying. I went in and showed the repair dude the phone and he popped it open to show me why that the metal connectors underneath were broken and bent. He said it would cost only $30 to repair, where other repair places were quoting anywhere from $59 to $89. I left the phone with him, went to go purchase the yelp deal ($10 for $25 worth), came back and the phone was repaired and the button works perfectly. All in all only paid $15! Totally worth it! Last night I was in my bathroom, iPhone in hand, texting, and all of a sudden it just SLIPPED from my hand and landed on the tile floor. No biggie, right? It was a 5 inch fall! I was sitting on the fucking toilet for Christ's sake! Shattered. The entire screen was fucking shattered! I couldn't believe it. I started screaming bloody murder. I immediately called my friend SJ who works at T-Mobile in the Westfield Mall downtown... cell phone GURU. I was throwing a class 5 temper tantrum. SJ talked to her friends at AT&T and they looked up my account to see if I was eligible for an upgrade... um yeah, sure, in a few months... then I could pay another $400 for another 3Gs! YEAH FUCKING RIGHT. Or hey, I could take it to the Apple store and they'd fix my screen for a mere $200. UM, NO. What do I look like, Miss Moneybags? I'm a student for Christ's sake. She then remembered about Mobile Kangaroo and called them. They could fix my phone, and all for a low price of $92 after a 15% off coupon after tax. My roommate and I rushed to the place and was greeted by Ted, who is AWESOME. They were about to close, but he fixed my screen for me anyway! He fixed that thing in no lie... about 45 minutes! It was amazing. He also threw in a free screen protector since mine was ruined after the tragic escapade. I'm giving 4 stars just for the service! Called about 1/2 an hour before they closed and asked if they could still accommodate fixing my busted iPhone screen and they said yes. Actually took me way longer to get there from SOMA so I was there 15 minutes before closing - the guy still graciously agreed to fix my phone and stayed half an hour past closing. A few things: 1. Definite hole in the wall - not a Verizon store. Don't expect much out of the storefront. 2. Location was ok, up on Geary so it wasn't in the TL exactly...although close enough. 3. Go do something for 30-45min while they fix your phone, it takes a bit (totally understandable). Phone screen was new, no issues so far!
